Chapter 4 Something filthy

THEA

I rounded the corner of the house, my lungs burning with cold night air, fully intending to confront him right then and there. But the moment my sneakers hit the wet grass of the patio, what I saw stopped me dead in my tracks.

Emmett was leaning casually against the dark brick wall under the shadow of the garage roof. His dark trousers were unbuttoned, dragged down just enough, and a girl was down on her knees right in front of him, her head moving rhythmically in between his thigh.

My breath hitched, a heavy knot twisting instantly in my stomach.

It wasn't just the fact that he was smoking a blunt, the sweet, pungent smell of weed drifting lazily through the chilled evening air. It wasn't even his sheer, terrifying audacity to do something so filthy right in my mother's backyard while his father and my mother were sitting just a few yards away in the dining room.

It was the silver hunting knife he was holding.

He was casually twirling the heavy, sharp blade between his long fingers, rolling the flat metal terrifyingly close to the side of the girl's exposed neck. One wrong slip, one tiny twitch, and that edge would slice straight through her throat.

A cold, sickening chill rushed down my spine. Horror, mixed with a dark, dangerous coil of tension, coiled tightly in the pit of my stomach. Emmett didn't even look like he was enjoying himself. His handsome face was completely blank, his expression dull and bored as he stared up at the dark sky. But the desperate, breathless moans coming from the girl told a completely different story.

Panic seized my mind. What if he’s threatening her? What if he forced her down on her knees with that blade, forcing her into this, or making her his next victim?

I took a tiny step forward, my mind racing with the insane urge to scream, to run over and somehow save her.

Right then, Emmett’s heavy, languid eyes slowly glided sideways, locking directly onto mine standing in the shadows.

They were so cold. So heavy. So completely unbothered.

A hard shudder ran down my back. My throat closed up, and I swallowed hard, my boots glued to the stone. This was the second time in twenty-four hours that those dark, calculating eyes had caught me spying on him from the shadows. Does he recognize me from the alley? Does he know I’m the girl who ran? Is he going to kill me next?

“Enjoying the show, Stepsis?”

Emmett’s low growl broke through the quiet night, the deep, rough drag of his voice carrying thick across the patio, shocking me to my absolute core.

The girl on her knees froze instantly, her shoulders hitching as she started to lift her head up toward me.

Without even glancing down at her, Emmett reached out with his free hand, his fingers twisting roughly into her hair, and shoved her face right back down into his lap.

“Who asked you to stop?” he barked, his voice sharp and unyielding.

“Sorry, Emm,” the girl whimpered softly against him, immediately picking up her pace, her mouth working faster, frantic to please him.

The dull apathy in Emmett’s face suddenly shifted, replaced by a dark, dangerous edge as her movements worked on him.

“That’s a good girl,” he muttered, a low rasp breaking out of his chest. “Fuck. You take me so well, Ruth.”

The entire time he spoke, he never once removed his eyes from my face.

A dark, sinful curl touched the corner of his lips. His heavy eyelids drooped, his hazel eyes growing darker, more hooded, and completely intense as his teeth caught his lower lip, biting down hard.

I was completely rooted to the spot. Every instinct I had screamed at me to turn around, to run back inside to safety, but my legs flat-out refused to move. My stomach kept locking into tight, burning knots, and every single tiny hair on my arms stood straight up on alert as I stood there, trapped in the raw, vulgar display unfolding in front of me.

My skin felt feverish despite the biting cold. A strange, shameful heat prickled under my clothes, my gaze glued to the sheer length of him, to the heavy flex of his thighs and the raw, unrefined power radiating off his posture. It was filthy, it was wrong, and it was horrifying, yet I was completely paralyzed, watching the smooth, dark ink of the tattoos stretching over his chest, creeping up his neck like a warning.

Right in front of my face, Emmett gripped the girl’s hair even tighter, his knuckles turning white as he shoved her head all the way down his private parts, letting out a deep, guttural groan.

“Fuck...”

He began snapping his hips forward, driving his dick harder and deeper into her throat, his movements rough, heavy, and completely relentless. Yet through every single breath, every flex of his jaw, Emmett didn't break eye contact with me for a fraction of a second.

And shamelessly, helplessly, I couldn't tear my eyes away from him either.

I watched, my breath caught in my throat, as Emmett groaned heavily into the cool air, his jaw tightening as a violent tremor ran through his broad shoulders. He threw his head back against the dark brick wall, his chest heaving, exposing the thick, black ink on his throat even clearer under the yellow patio light as he finally came.

The moment I saw that black crown and barbed rose tattoo illuminated on his skin, the dark, suffocating trance instantly shattered.

A wave of pure anger, thick disgust, and deep self-loathing washed over me, burning through my veins. What is wrong with me? I thought, my stomach turning violently. This man is a monster. He is a sick, cold-blooded killer who slaughtered Maya in an alleyway just last night.

The girl slowly pushed herself up on wobbly knees, wiping her lips with the back of her hand. She leaned in, trying to press a soft kiss onto Emmett’s mouth, but he didn't even look at her. He casually pressed a hand against her shoulder, shoving her backward like a piece of garbage, before casually reaching out to pat her cheek like she was nothing more than a trained pet.

“I’ll call you,” he said dismissively, his voice cold and indifferent as he pulled his trousers up and fastened his belt.

The girl didn't even look mad. She just grinned, nodding eagerly as she adjusted her messy hair and straightened her skirt. She shot him a quick wink, stepping lightly past the side gate with a bounce in her step, completely unbothered as she disappeared down the driveway.

Now, the patio was completely dead silent.

It was just me and Emmett.
