Chapter 03

My heart stopped for a moment.

I felt like my hearing might be problematic. It couldn't be that my child was better than me, could it? How could I be wrong?

I bit my lip, trying to stare at my tears, but the crowd began to grow louder.

“Young Master Eric is right, Miss Erica always thinks only of herself.”

“That woman is always causing trouble! Even though Luna Hazel has been kind enough to care for her.”

“We've seen it, haven't we, who deserves to be our Luna?”

Everyone's comments hit my chest harder than any enemy's claws.

As if that pain wasn't enough, suddenly the roars of the Rogues rang out loudly.

Black shadows leaped from behind the bushes and attacked wildly, their claws and fangs glistening in the dark night.

I realized that Hazel had lured them all out. She had deliberately left a scent trail. She seemed to have planned everything neatly.

I ran out of my hiding place to withstand the first attack. My body was immediately thrown, slammed to the ground, claws tearing my shoulder.

Warm blood began to flow profusely from there.

“Aaaaaa!” I screamed as loud as I could, trying to fight them with my remaining strength.

Unfortunately, no one came to my rescue.

My eyes frantically searched for Richard.

Unfortunately, he didn't move. He was busy hugging Hazel, protecting her behind his body, while I was being attacked by four Rogues at once.

“Richard,” I called out to him, hoping he would turn to me just once.

However, again and again, I was met with disappointment.

Even now, Eric was yelling, staring at me with resentment. “Just leave her alone! She's just pretending to be a hero, and you all have to protect Mother!”

My father was increasingly found within, hearing all those hurtful words.

I remember that all this time, I was always the one standing on the front lines, I was the one who always guarded the border night after night for them, but now they are all just letting me die.

Rogue's claws slashed my back, my blood splattered on his hands again. My body was completely weak, but I turned my head in surrender.

For me, it didn't matter if I died here, at least all my sacrifices would not be in vain.

I looked at Richard one last time and I realized that, to him, my life and death would have no effect on him.

Perhaps, to him, I was already dead even before my body fell to the ground.

Silence, quiet, that's what I heard when I opened my eyes again.

Leaves that were still damp stuck to my body, my body felt very stiff, even my clothes were covered in dried blood. The pain throughout my body made it almost impossible for me to get up again.

But the pain I felt was nothing compared to the emptiness I felt.

I looked around, hoping that at least someone was near me, but what I hoped for never happened.

No one was there, not even a trace of a wolf remained.

I realized that everyone was gone. They left me unconscious alone in the forest, as if I had never existed in their lives.

My tears fell without me being able to hold them back. So this was the end I got. I was just a Replacement Luna, whom they considered a burden.

In the end, I was alone, forever.

With the last of my strength, I tried to walk home. Every step I took made my body dizzy, my steps faltered, but at that moment I had only one determination, which was to return to the place I called home.

At least, I thought I still had the right to stand there, didn't I?

However, all the hopes I had built up instantly vanished. As soon as I arrived at the Pack's main courtyard, my breath caught in my throat.

All the werewolves were gathered there, cheers of happiness filling the air.

On stage, Hazel stood elegantly in a beautiful red dress. She stood beside Richard, my husband, my Alpha.

My eyes widened in disbelief as I saw Hazel being crowned Luna.

After all, I was still alive, and I was still Richard's wife. At this moment, I should still be the rightful Luna!

“Long live Luna Hazel!”

“Long live the mighty Alpha Richard!”

The shouts pierced my ears.

However, the most devastating moment was when Richard turned to Hazel, my husband bowed his head and kissed Hazel's lips in front of all the people.

How could this be? That kiss?

I couldn't say anything, that kiss was a symbol of union. A symbol of acceptance and also a symbol that I had truly been replaced.

My body began to shake violently.

At the same time, I felt the punishment of Bone Mate hit me. The pain I felt was indescribable, spreading from my chest to my marrow, even my heart felt crushed by thousands of swords piercing it at the same time.

I fell, unable to bear the pain. My hands began to grip the ground near me.

“Arrrggghhhh!” I screamed in frustration.

Everyone turned to look at me, but no one sympathized with me.

I only received looks of disgust and contempt from all of them.

“Look at that disgusting woman, she doesn't accept her fate.”

“She doesn't know her place.”

“Alpha rejected her, why did she come back?”

Ignoring all the insults, I looked at Richard.

He glanced at me, then quickly turned away, as if I were just a meaningless shadow.

At that moment, I finally realized. No one wanted me in this world, even my own husband considered me dead.

I thought the pain I received from the torturous Bone Mate was unbeatable. However, I was wrong.

Richard was now standing tall on the stage, holding Hazel's hand tightly. He turned his cold gaze towards me, who was still on the ground.

“Starting today, I, Alpha Richard, reject Erica as my mate!” he said firmly and thunderously.
