Chapter 07

“Thank you for explaining that, Alpha. Now I understand.” I began to realize that Richard was chasing me because I was keeping all the secrets of the Cendana Pack. If that was the case, it made sense that they didn't want a former replacement for Luna like me to run away, because they were afraid I would kill them.

Of course, at this point, I didn't believe what Jayden said about the vessel of power for Alphas because I was well aware that a defective wolf like me would never obtain such noble power, and I was sure Jayden said that only because he didn't want me to feel hopeless as a defective wolf.

“But let me fight, at least I'll die with honor,” I continued because I began to smell the unique scent of the Cendana Pack, a scent I had learned to protect them when they needed it, and now I smelled it again only because they wanted to target and kill me.

Jayden shook his head repeatedly, now staring at me firmly.

“If you really want to die, Erica, I won’t stop you, but at least you have to die by my side!”

What? Did I hear that correctly? How could it be that for the first time, someone was truly by my side? Even the five years I spent serving Richard weren't enough for him to glance my way, while Jayden, a complete stranger, was willing to stand by me.

“Alpha Jayden, you're joking,” I said in disbelief, smiling bitterly.

“I don't believe it, but if you don't believe me, let me make you a member of the Ruby Pack. How about it?” Jayden's offer really surprised me.

I now realized that for the first time, someone truly wanted to protect me.

“Attack!” The shout from outside startled me.

I realized that now the Cendana Pack was really attacking the Ruby Pack just because of me.

My eyes were filled with anxiety. I wanted to run outside immediately, to protect all the innocent people.

“Wait, Erica, you’re still very weak.” Jayden held my hand. “Look into my eyes now, Erica,” he said again, his left hand holding my small face, and now, for the first time, I had no choice but to look into those blue eyes.

“If you want to save them, then let me do it. You must stay here, you must stay alive so you can protect yourself and everyone else as you wish. Do you understand?”

Jayden's soft tone of voice and his intense gaze completely mesmerized me, and I found myself nodding my head without even realizing it.

“Smart kid,” he said again when I nodded my head, and he stroked my head for the first time, leaving me unsure of how to react.

“Wait here, I'll get rid of them. Remember, don't ever leave. Don't disappoint me!” Jayden said again in a firm tone, then he left and I could smell the Cendana Pack, which made my breathing even more difficult as they got closer.

Jayden POV

Now I was leaving Erica alone in my room, and of course, I knew that Erica didn't realize whose room she was currently occupying.

I looked like a fairly stern person, but unfortunately, the innocent girl didn't know what I wanted from her. Even after touching her hand and feeling that she trusted me a little, the blood inside me was boiling.

In fact, Leo, the wolf inside me, is very excited and keeps asking me to switch places because everything blue and gray wants Erica to touch his fur directly, and I can only hold myself back so that control remains in my hands because once Leo takes over my body, all my plans will be ruined.

How could I let the plan I had carefully laid out over the past five years fall apart just because Leo couldn't wait to meet our Mate? Yes, Erica was our Mate and the person I had been eagerly awaiting, but for now, let Erica remain unaware.

“Attack!” I shouted as loudly as I could so Erica could hear me from inside the room. Of course, I made the sound more dramatic on purpose.

Even the people I’ve been training for a long time are now playing their roles perfectly.

I started making as much noise as possible, and I was sure that inside her room, Erica would be very worried, especially since I was also spilling a lot of blood, and of course, that blood wasn't really from the battle, but from the Rogues who were now being tortured by my subordinates.

The Rogues I gathered, I deliberately let them attack my territory, and of course, I made their scent into the unique scent of the Cendana Pack so Erika would know that the people she always protects only want her dead.

I’m not a foolish Alpha who would let the stupid wolves of the Cendana Pack easily enter my territory, especially since those idiotic wolves would need a considerable amount of time to reach my location, and unfortunately, the naive Erica doesn’t realize any of that.

Don't blame me for playing such a boring game, but blame them all for throwing away such a beautiful diamond like Erica, and don't forget to blame Erica too, for being a naive girl who didn't realize that her body was very special.

In fact, her skinny body makes me very excited. Luckily, the full moon has disappeared, otherwise I can't guarantee how savagely Leo would take over my body and enjoy his union with Erica. I also want to thank Richard, the idiot Alpha who discarded Erica and never touched her, because in the end, I am the one enjoying all the power buried within that girl's body.

Without Erica realizing it, I had actually sealed her power back in. Due to the reject punishment and also bone mate, Erica's true power would definitely emerge to protect herself as a form of defense, but the girl was completely unaware of it.

I even gave Erica subtle clues that she was very valuable and that her body possessed extraordinary power, but she didn't believe me at all, and of course that was a very real advantage for me.

I smiled slightly, realizing that Erica had managed to escape from the room I had deliberately locked, and I could also hear the woman's breathless gasps as she tried to run towards me.

I also deliberately let a rogue hit me.

“Alpha Jayden, watch out!” Erica shouted, just as I expected, and I deliberately let my body fall because the stupid rogue attacked my chest.
