Chapter 6 …The Bulge Of Stolen Goods Under Your Shirt!

Amber froze momentarily as the voice registered, lifting her eyes to see Greta blocking her path with Sabrina Leahy at her side.

Just like yesterday, Sabrina wore a designer dress, an expensive bag dangling proudly from her wrist, and her hair tied neatly into a bun.

“It’s really you. Sigh. You should know by now that your marriage to my brother is over, so don’t bother trying to beg me to get back in his good graces.” Greta snorted once she realized the person in front of her really was Amber.

At this, Amber’s eyes dimmed slightly before she squeezed them shut in embarrassment.

Back then, whenever Aaron came home moody and took out his frustrations on her, she’d been so worried about him that she’d run around asking Greta what she could possibly do to make him feel better.

Sometimes Greta made her do things that kept her up all night. Though they rarely worked, it never stopped her from wanting to try harder, to do more to make him feel better about himself.

Shaking the degrading memories to the back of her mind, she sighed and mumbled softly, “Of course.”

Greta was slightly taken aback by this response.

Yesterday, Amber had quietly packed her things and left the house while they were in the living room.

Naturally, anyone would be heartbroken with their marriage ending and for Amber, she knew it had to be devastating.

But to brush her off so casually like this when the talk was about Aaron…

Her brows slowly knitted into a frown.

Could it be that the end of her marriage had made her withdrawn?

As she pondered about this, Sabrina rolled her eyes at Amber silently.

How she detested people like her.

If Greta hadn’t told her the many degrading things Amber had done in the past to keep her relationship with Aaron, she never would’ve known the depth of this woman’s shamelessness.

But she knew. And a woman who would go to such lengths without caring how pathetic it was… was capable of anything.

So even though Amber looked unbothered and tried to make it seem like she wasn’t here hoping to see Aaron, she knew better.

Narrowing her eyes, she stepped toward Amber and hissed, “Just yesterday, you were still her sister-in-law. Giving her the cold shoulder just because you’re no longer married to her brother is too much, don’t you think?”

“Or are you just being rude because she caught you lurking around us, hoping you’d see Aaron?”

Hearing this, Greta sucked her teeth and gave Amber a second look.

She had changed out of yesterday’s clothes, but she still wore the same worn-out shoes, and her hair remained unkempt.

Was she not following them the entire night, she would’ve at least remembered to fix her hair.

Putting it all together, Greta felt certain that was the case.

So she laughed and gently waved Sabrina aside.

“Now that you mention it, she doesn’t look lively at all. But I’ll let her off this time, because I understand where she’s coming from.”

Hearing her, Sabrina smiled faintly, her voice soft even as she huffed. “Lurking around her ex-husband is just pathetic.”

Amber, who hadn’t bothered to exchange words with them until now, finally reacted.

Her brows twitched in surprise as she glanced toward Sabrina.

Ex-husband? Already?

She hadn’t thought it through last night when she agreed to marry Ezekiel, but when she recalled, she decided to leave it all in the hands of his lawyer.

However, she knew dissolving a marriage wasn’t easy and usually took weeks to finalize.

Seeing Amber’s eyes widen in surprise, Sabrina sneered inwardly.

Just as she suspected, this woman was still hopelessly in love with Aaron despite what happened last night.

But after four months of seeing each other in secret, Aaron was finally hers alone, and she wasn’t about to lose him again.

Thus, lowering her eyes, she continued softly, “As soon as you signed the marriage certificate, Aaron sent it to his lawyer. Turns out he’d been dissolving your marriage in secret all this time and was just waiting for the right moment to ask for your signature.”

Beside her, Greta nodded in agreement.

Since last night, she’d had a hunch her brother was up to something with this woman. So even though she couldn’t prove it, she knew she was right.

Thus, hearing Sabrina coyly mark her territory, she was elated and hurriedly snapped her fingers in Amber’s face.

“In other words, getting back together with him is impossible, so back off!”

Getting her answer, Amber merely shrugged, and stepped out of the way without a word.

She was in love, not a fool.

It may have taken her three years to walk away, but she knew better than to return to a cheater like Aaron Foster.

However, seeing Amber walk away unbothered by the news wasn’t as satisfying as Greta thought it would be.

For some reason she couldn’t quite put her finger on, it annoyed her to the bone.

So when she looked around and recalled she saw Amber standing beside a cart filled with clothes, she turned and maliciously called out loudly, “Amber, these clothes you picked out… was it to cover up the bulge of stolen goods under your shirt?”

It was still early in the morning, so the store wasn’t as busy. Hence, an accusation like that caught everyone’s attention.

Stunned by the sudden accusation, Amber spurned around to face her.

However, before she could even open her mouth, two staff members stormed over and pinned her hard against the wall.
