Chapter 10 Public eyes
72 hours before Dorian's death,
The soft sound of contemporary music echoed through the premium JBL speakers sitting pretty in one of Dorian's Crane apartment upstate. Different brands of wine were placed on the table like a party was about to kick off. However, that was a lifestyle common to the young man. Always serving himself like a royalty and takes everything in grand style like he was just more than a man with a skeleton and a brain.
“Sir, the magazine you requested for,” the male maid approached him on his table as he bite on the big red apples in front of him.
“Thank you. I don't want any disturbance and anyone lurking around. I would be having a meeting soon so get yourself and every other person far from the private suite,” he ordered the male maid who paid thorough attention to Dorian's lips.
It was as though if he failed to, he might lose his job that very minute. “Okay Sir. I would make sure no one disturbs your privacy.”
He waved his hands at the maid and he walked away almost immediately.
In a rush, he flipped through the magazine, and the first thing that caught his eye was a picture of Delphine Sterling and her husband. They had been spotted at a gala, dressed in glamorous coordinated outfits.
“Such stupidity..”
“Who does she think she is…to rub this on my face, on our faces? Now she goes around,.flaunting this lowlife everywhere in the city?”
“Trying to show off or what the heck is this exactly?” He lashed out angrily, slamming the magazine on the table in front of him.
That minute, he called Viktor Sterling on the phone, “Hello Mr. Sterling, are you seeing this? It does look like you are sleeping on this matter and don't care about the love I have for your daughter?”
“You know very much how I intend to build the family up with my proposal and all I get is rejection and constant humiliation from your daughter??!” He blurted out angrily on the call.
“You need to take it easy and talk to me. I don't know why she chose to get married to that fellow. I told you that young man just appeared out of nowhere and now my daughter seems to be in love-trapped relationship with him?”
“This is not my fault, Dorian. Delphine just wanna bite me and I am doing what I can to…”
“Oh no no…don't even say that. You are doing absolutely nothing, Mr. Sterling. I am looking at the “Ruby Magazine” and all I can see is pictures of her and that man she calls her husband!” He voiced out angrily.
He disconnected the call immediately and clenched his fists.
“I’m going to do everything in my power to get that guy. I don't care if I have to depend a fortune to do that. I'm going to find out who he really is and expose him..”
“If only Delphine would just accept me and forget about this Archer guy or whatever he calls himself!!”
“Perhaps I should try my luck one time. Possibly tell her about this Mylo guy,” he thought aloud.
He rang up Delphine's phone not considering if she was ever going to pick his call or not.
Surprisingly, she did.
“Why are you calling me, Dorian?”
“Are you with my father? Did he motivate you to take this action cause I know he wouldn't give up?” She bursted without holding back.
“Common Delphine, your father didn't put me up to this. You should know me by now. I am intentional about you,” he spoke in a calmer tone.
“I just don't know if you are making the right decisions or perhaps you are doing them to hurt me….”
“What the heck are you insinuating?” She replied coldly.
“I’m only saying…Why get married to Mylo Archer, of every man in the entire city?”
“Do you even trust him? I doubt you even know who he is cause left to me, he is just a nobody trying to be a pest and you just don't see through his dramatic entrance and acts!!”
“Hmmm…” she sighed out heavily on the call.
“Are you done? Cause my husband just came in and I would like to go give him a really tight hug and kiss,” she responded in quite the humorous way and ended the call.
Dorian, on the other hand, didn't find the humor in her response and it got him agitated instead.
“Goddamn it!”
That same minute, the doorbell rang, snapping Dorian out of his mildness.
“Come in,” he said in a low tone as he sips the glass of wine in his hand.
It was as though the person he saw just cooled his nerves. He gave out a sigh. A sigh of relief.
A young, captivating and neatly dressed lady walked in. A majestic walk like that of a top rated model for a bliss and Bloom show. She wore a long arch coat and black heels with dark shades on, giving her an extremely concealing identity. Her cologne rented the air around the room and it marked her astonishing presence…
Her eyes darted around underneath the shades like she was trying to scan the whole place of cameras.
“Finally you are here, you must be Tiffany Magelli…” Dorian greeted with his hands stretched forth for a handshake.
“Its Tiffany Marchetti….accuracy breeds genuine connection, Mr. Crane,” she commented in a soft cool voice, stretching her palms slightly to make contact with Dorian's.
“Interesting…you are as detailed as they narrated. I'm sure you know what you are here for?”
She paused…..”I do and at the same time, I want to know more so I don't miss out on anything useful..”
She was the best of her kind. Tiffany, her name alone rings fear and anxiety in the hearts of her private fellas in the academy. An intelligence operative with a special ability of getting information where there seems to be none. She was deadly and shadowy. You never see her coming until she has gotten you by the balls.
“I have given you everything you need to know however there is one more thing about this Mylo dude that really baffles me..”
“His background check doesn't add up….there seem to be holes in between and I can't seem to fill them in with what I have. That is why I hired you, Tiffany.”
“I want everything you can dig on this guy and I need it asap..Time is not on my side.”
“Time is on nobody's side, Mr. Crane. You have nothing to worry about. I'd do a perfect job and deliver accordingly,” she said in an assuring tone.
