Chapter 13 Rivalry or Jealousy?
The Sterling estate was a beauty of its own. Asides the vast amount of wealth it breathes, it was one of the most guarded buildings in the city. Each building were secured by tens of them and you must be a nutcase to think you can break through every barrier that has been set up.
It was indeed a masterpiece structure and that structure was full of the most disciplined men acting as guards and led by a young man in his late 20s, Liam Oren. A strict but guilty driven fellow who has always been haunted by his ugly pasts..
Fortunately for his journey, he found himself working as a Captain of Sterling estate bodyguards and a secret lover to Delphine Sterling.
Paid like a standard worker and living large as a young Boss of his own men. He was as highly favored and compensated more so through the help of Delphine.
Liam arrived at the estate in what seemed to be a private cab. His eyes was so focused on his phone as he was reading through the Update News of the Day.
His facial expression wasn't welcoming like he had read something that made him sad.
“Lord let all of this just be some prank because I am not going to take it lightly,” he said to himself as he walked towards the mansion in his finely ironed black uniform suit.
“Looking sharp as always, Liam..” the gate man saluted with a smile but Liam never returned it.
“What is going on here? Has there been a change of system that I don't know about?” Liam said in a loud tone as his eyes darted, noticing the changes in placement.
“It was Mrs. Delphine's orders, sir. She wanted some men to follow her and her husband to a function so we had to do a little switch..” the bodyguard by the name, Levi, answered in a sharp tone.
“She and her husband?” He repeated like he was disgusted by the very word itself.
“Yes, Boss…do you need us to do anything?” Levi asked.
“Not at all....go back to your posts. If she made the switch, it's fine. She is the bigger Boss, “ he clicked his tongue and walked away…
His eyes became red all of a sudden and his face was frowned…
He couldn't hold it in. He clenched his fists as those words replay on his head. “So Delphine now thinks she has a husband or what?”
“What a big mess!! Oh what a motherfucking joke!!!” He banged his hand on the wall out of annoyance.
He was a broken man. Haunted. Driven by guilt from the very thing he has hidden from the public and even Delphine, for many years.
Guilt of being witness to a cold blooded murder and refusing to reveal the truth. This had tormented him for years but fate had a plan of suppression for him.
Delphine.
He had fallen in love with her and professed his feelings for her….
“How could she do this to me?”
“So all this while, she never loved me? I was just used for the time being, I guess…”
His mind became compounded with a lot of uneasy thoughts and it almost felt he was going to burst.
That same minute, Delphine's car drove in and Liam was quick to rush to her, “Welcome Miss Sterling,” he greeted, deliberately to see her reaction.
She smiled halfway, “Its Mrs. Sterling. You can see I am now married,” she spoke ruthlessly.
“Take this inside for me,” she turned to Jaxon who was busy wondering why Liam was giving a really bitter look.
As soon as he walked in, Liam walked closer to her…”Watch it, we are outside,” Delphine warned.
“Wow…..its the way you speak to me now. What is the meaning of all this? What is going on? Moments ago, you and I was enjoying our secret live life then all of a sudden, you bring a stranger into the house, got married to him..”
“....and even call him your husband????”
“That’s because He is. You know what you are doing is stupid right? Talking about this right in front of the other guards. I didn't think you would be this dense,” she replied rudely.
“Whatever it is you see, just take it that way…” she blurted.
“What happened to us? Our times together? The moment we shared, the secret conversations when no one was watching?” He said in a low tone.
She didn't even bother to give him an audience further. Instead, she hissed and walked away.
Blood boiling. It was as though his temper had risen above degrees and turning over.
Liam couldn't believe it.
That very minute, he shut his eyes and went off.
“Who exactly does he think he is?”
“A nobody from absolutely nowhere just came in and stole the love of my life and he even goes around with her like some handbag?!!”
He stood at the entrance of the house, ready for action. One of the bodyguards had just informed him that evening that the both of them were stepping out again and he ordered the guard to step down while he took his position as their driver for the night.
“Uhm…I don't remember you being the driver,” Jaxon uttered as he stepped out.
“I believe that wouldn't be a problem, Sir. I'm filling in for the other bodyguard. He is pressed,” Liam answered reluctantly.
He kept looking at Jaxon like there was more to him than the eyes can see.
“You are driving?” Delphine asked the minute she sets her eyes on Liam at the front seat.
“Hmmm…”
They arrived at the function and they both got inside. Liam stood behind their table at the venue. His face straightened up with his posture like that of a trained army man. Fit to secure and protect his owners.
He kept a straight face and his sight was maintained forward.
After a short while, he saw Delphine placing her hands on Jaxon’s shoulder and both of them drawing in close as the camera shot in on them..
“My dear husband,” he heard her say to him from where he stood.
The fuck?
He got angry and mad.
The rage of jealousy took over.
Though, she would always take her hands off back every minute. He still couldn't stand and watch.
Clenched fists and he kept his side eyes on Jaxon all the while.
One would think he was about to go for a quick fist fight with the harsh gaze he fixed on the young innocent man.
“Excuse me, ma'am. I need to pick this call. Its offical..” he whispered to Delphine's ears and she waved him off with her hand like she didn't care.
“Pfff….” he scoffed the second he got outside.
“Hello. What took you so long?” Liam said over the phone.
“I’m here now. What would you have me do?” The voice over the call replied in a baritone voice.
“I need your services…i mean..the other one….and it involves one Mylo Archer…”
