Chapter 5 Reminiscing
Most times, choices are made out of comfort. Some are made for right purposes but the dangerous of them all, are those quick choices clawed at, for selfish reasons. These are the kind of ones that got tangled up between Mylo and his newly found companion as fate may have it.
Mylo's phone buzzed as he stood at the entrance of the club, adjusting his squeezed uniform. He smirked at the call as it displays a phone number from an unknown caller.
“And who do I know?” He jested as he reluctantly swiped to accept the call.
“Hello, who is this?” His stern voice echoed through the phone's mouthpiece.
“Hmm…quite a catch…you should save that voice for a later life not this present one, Mylo,” the voice over the call replied.
“Delphine? Is that you? How on earth did you get my number ? I never gave it….”
“Save yourself the stress. I can get anything I want plus the staffs where you work are just as cheap as I expected.Just a few currency notes flashed before their eyes and I already have almost every number of Mylos in the entire city,” she responded, with a ruthless tone.
“I see…that was how you did it..”
“Yeah..but that shouldn't be the order of this conversation. I need you here now. We have something to discuss,” she answered, her voice sounding extremely serious and official.
Mylo paused. They had seen countless times at the club and even more when there isn't no customers to attend. What could she possibly want him for?
“If it was a random conversation, she could have possibly showed up here in her luxury collection of clothes and bodyguards,” Mylo thought on his head.
However his curiosity hinted on so much more. Perhaps, the exact one he had in mind, a progress step for his hidden agenda.
“Erm…where am I coming to?”
“I just sent you an address. Its at the Sterling Hotel; my private suite. Just come straight to the office room. If anyone questions you on the way, show them the card I gave you the other night,” she laid out plainly over the call.
The other night was one of fate, he and Delphine tangled up in the same sheets…….
Mylo smiled halfway, the minute she said those words. Another private moment with Delphine, he was eager to see where that would lead to, this time around.
He hurriedly dust off his uniform and try to straighten it with his bare hands but unfortunately they were just too rumpled to be corrected easily.
“I don't have a choice. I got to appear this way hopefully I don't get chased out or something…” he mumbled.
“Can we help you, young man?” One of the hefty body guards at the entrance of the Hotel stopped Jaxon.
His roughness wouldn't give him a free pass in. There was a standing order to kick every riffraff and lowlife looking individual insight. The Sterling Hotel was a premium five star hotel, top rated and exclusive to influential amd wealthy peoples. Likes of Mylo in his currently dressed uniform would appear as nothing but a roadside beggar in search of a pocket to pick.
“I’m here to see Delphine Sterling. She invited me here,” Jaxon answered.
“Did he just mention the name of the CEO's daughter? Why would she invite someone like you here? Boy, get your ass moving. This place is not for paupers like you,” other bodyguard spat on his face.
That same minute, Jaxon’s phone rang up and he picked, struggling to get the saliva off his face with his hands.
“Hello?” He answered.
“Where the heck are you, Mylo?” Delphine raised her voice.
“I’m outside but your people wouldn't allow me in..”
“What? Hand over the phone to one of them…” she lashed out.
A short conversation and all the guards kept echoing was Yes, Ma.’ with a salute even when she wasn't in front of them.
“Hey, young man,…Upstairs, the last office room by the right, suite 75B.”
“I’m not sure Miss Sterling knows this is the man coming to see her cause I think the idiot lost his way or something,” one of the bodyguards uttered in a low tone…
Jaxon paid no attention to them and just went in immediately.
Walk of shame after being disgraced at the entrance. He kept his head down as there was so many men and women in suits staring at him like he was an unwanted fellow.
Jaxon got to the door and he noticed the door was painted differently from the others…”Must be really private,” he muttered as he hut the door gently for a knock.
“Come in…” a voice answered.
And right inside, sat Delpine in her brown fitted gown, whose length was slightly above her knees.
Her cleavage was wide and her boobs were glaring for the eye to behold. She was appearing so fine and elegant.
“Mylo….were you chased by a dog or what? I know you are poor but do you have to look this wretched every single time?” She blurted.
Jaxon acted unbothered, but her words hit him like a bolt of electricity coursing violently through his veins.
“Anyways, have your seat. I have an offer for you,” she started.
He squinted his eyes, eager to hear the next words that would proceed from her glossy lips.
She hissed then clicked her tongue like she just had a funny thought in her head, “I can't get married to Dorian Crane. Over my dead ass would I give myself to him so I am offering you a deal to be my husband…”
Jaxon raised his eyebrows, acting like he was astonished by the offer. On the insides, he smiled that his plan is finally coming to fruition. “Its a big contract if you are wise enough to accept it…..I just need you to play the act well, to rub on my father's face…”
“I wanna really put it all over him that I am married to someone else…some sort of a rebellion if you understand…I know you must be wondering what you get in return right?”
Jaxon nodded like a fool in a sagacious lecture. “To start with, you won't be appearing this wretched anymore..I would clear your debts so you don't have to be appearing miserable everywhere you go..and erm…”
“I just might fund your art if you act well and submit to me…” she added.
A wild thought.
Just a light snap of the fingers, and Jaxon burst awake from the deep sleep that had crept over him, momentarily forgetting it was already daybreak and he was already in the custody of Delphine.
“Hey!!!” A strange voice rented the air.
