Chapter 3 Chapter 3
The days went by quickly and the ceremony was slowly approaching and I also noticed Lorcan's behavior had changed. I tried to find out what was going on but he didn't want to talk. I was very worried. At first, I felt his alpha duties must be taking a toll on him but when I asked Chase there didn't seem to be any problem. What worried me the most was that he stopped coming to our room at night. I knew this because I stayed up waiting for him to come to the room and I ended up sleeping and when I woke up, his side of the bed didn't seem like he slept on it at all.
"Where did he spend the night?" That was the question on my mind every morning I woke up.
Something didn't feel right to me and I was going to find out what. He wasn't even giving me a chance to talk about the ceremony to make preparations. It looked like I was the only one worried about the ceremony. I put my face in my hand, thinking deeply. My body ached everywhere and I was so confused. I needed to speak with someone about this. Someone I could trust.
Marie's name came to my mind but I shook my head. I didn't want to keep bothering her with my problems and she would remind me of all she said last time and how Lorcan didn't love me enough.
Was she telling the truth? Is it because he didn't love me enough maybe he doesn't want me to be by his side.
'No, no. That is not true. I know Lorcan loves us a lot' my wolf said.
'What do you advise we do' I asked her.
'Let's talk to him again'
'You know I've tried to speak to him but he doesn't want to say anything. If I keep persisting he'll get mad and I don't want that'
'You won't get answers if you sit here questioning yourself'
It seemed pointless speaking with my wolf because clearly she didn't have any solution. Before I could think, my leg carried me to Marie's place. I knocked on her door and she didn't answer the first time, I was about to knock again when the door opened.
"Ally. Come in" she said. As I stepped into her home, a familiar faint smell hit me but I paid no attention to it.
"Did you have a visitor?"
"Not at all"
"Did I wake you up?" I asked.
"It's fine. It's time for me to wake up anyway. So to what do I owe this early visit? Do you have problems with Lorcan?" She asked before I could say anything. I felt bad because it seemed like I always came to her whenever I had problems with Lorcan.
"Yes," I finally said.
"Will you blame yourself again?" I shook my head.
"This time, I don't know the cause of the problem. He's not speaking with me. He has withdrawn lately and I don't know what the problem is"
"Maybe he's thinking about a lot or there's plenty on his table right now" I blinked in surprise. I wanted to be sure it was Marie talking. This was the first time she said anything in favor of Lorcan.
"Why do you look surprised?" She asked.
"I am surprised. This is the first time you've said Ayo supports Lorcan. Anyways, I thought about what you said and I asked Chase and he said there was nothing wrong"
"Chase is the beta. He won't know everything that's going on with the alpha. If you must know, the alpha has been visiting a nearby pack for a deal that's what has been taking his time" I blinked again in surprise and I couldn't help but ask
"How did you know that information and I'm not aware" she gulped and cleared her throat. I raised a brow.
"I-I. I heard some people talk about it"
"So that means I'm the only person that doesn't know and everyone else does"
"N-no. I heard the warriors talk about it, so I don't think it's general knowledge. You know the warriors follow him around"
"Why didn't he say anything rather than make me worry. Do you know he hasn't come to our room for days"
"Are you sure? If he didn't come to the room. Where did he spend the night?"
"I don't know. Maybe in the office or his cabin. I'm confused Marie. Tell me what to do. The ceremony is at the corner and I don't even know if it would hold anymore. Lorcan doesn't seem interested in it" The tears left my eyes. Marie came over to comfort me by rubbing my back.
"Calm down Ally, you don't have to worry about anything. Everything would be taken care of by the servants. You just need to look your best"
"Are you sure? I was thinking about postponing the event since Lorcan has a lot on his mind"
"No, no. Don't postpone it, talk to Lorcan first. I'm sure he can't wait to have you all to himself" she said.
"You really think, I should talk to him?"
"Yes. You have to talk to him" I nodded and cleaned my eyes and hugged her.
"Thank you, Marie. I always feel better after talking to you"
"Of course. I'm the only friend you have in this pack so I have to make you feel better" I smiled at that.
"I have to be on my way now. I need to catch up with Lorcan before he leaves"
On my way to the pack house, done servants were gathered and they seemed to be in a deep conversation. I didn't mean to pry on their conversation but I couldn't help myself. I moved closer.
"I can't believe what you're saying. Are you sure it's really the alpha?" One of them asked.
"Yes. I'm sure, I can recognize his posture anywhere" the other girl said and they all let out a gasp of shock. What could she have seen?
They must have noticed my presence because they became quiet and looked at the ground.
"What were you talking about?" They looked at each other and remained silent.
"Didn't I ask a question or do you want me to get the alpha involved?" I threatened them and it seemed to work.
"No no Luna," they said in unison.
"So speak"
"Umm...I was telling them that I saw the alpha with a lady at night but I couldn't see her face properly" It felt like I had poured a bucket of ice.
"A...Are you sure of what you are saying?" I couldn't help but stammer.
"I'm not really sure," she said in fear.
"You're not sure and yet you are spreading rumors. I should have your head" I said angrily.
"I....It's just that I've seen the alpha with another woman" she stuttered
