Chapter 2
Ella looked at the two children, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
She had given birth to them three years ago, but she didn't know who the father was.
Four years ago, when she was 20, someone drugged her at Joshua's birthday party. In the darkness, she had sex with a stranger.
When she got home, she heard Joshua asking Grandpa Aiden Thomas to break off their engagement.
At that moment, Ella knew she and Joshua could never be together.
So she chose to go abroad.
She didn't expect that just two months after going abroad, she'd find out she was pregnant with twins.
Ella didn't want to keep the children.
But the doctor said if she had an abortion, she'd never have a chance to be a mother again.
She had a condition that made it hard for her to get pregnant.
Ella thought she and Joshua would never have any romantic connection again in this lifetime.
And she'd never marry anyone else either.
So she gave birth to the children abroad.
When the children were two years old, Joshua contacted her personally.
He said Aiden was dying.
But as soon as she returned to Emerald City, Joshua dragged her to the marriage registration office to get married.
Ella didn't want to, but then she learned that Aiden was dying.
Before he died, he just wanted to see her marry Joshua.
To fulfill Aiden's wish, Ella had to agree.
Who would have thought that after they got married, Aiden's health got better day by day, and the divorce kept getting delayed.
Ella didn't dare let anyone know she had given birth to children.
Without Joshua finding out, she calmly lived as his wife for a year.
Looking at her two children now, Ella realized she had to divorce him and leave.
Otherwise, she couldn't imagine what would happen if Joshua found out about the two children.
Aurora and Dorian saw Ella coming and were overjoyed, running toward her on their little legs.
"Mommy, Mommy..."
Their voices were soft and sweet, melting her heart.
No matter what thoughts she had about them, Ella still crouched down and welcomed them into her arms.
Aurora and Dorian threw themselves into Ella's arms, each kissing her on the cheek, asking in soft voices:
"Why did Mommy come home so late today?"
Aurora was the older sister, well-behaved and adorable, like a delicate porcelain doll.
Especially her big round eyes with double eyelids, lively and cute, very lovable.
"Mommy must be so tired, let me pat your back."
That was Dorian speaking, the younger brother.
Though Dorian was thinner, he was also good-looking, with a glowing little face.
Dorian was more mature and smart than Aurora, good at reading people's expressions.
He also knew better how to make Ella happy.
Even when Ella was crouching, Aurora and Dorian weren't as tall as her, but they still lovingly went behind her to pat her back.
How could such thoughtful and caring children not soften her heart?
Ella took the children to sit on the sofa, reading and learning words with them.
The nanny said with a smile:
"Ms. Garcia is so blessed to have two such well-behaved, adorable, and thoughtful children."
Especially since they were only three years old.
Everyone says children this age are the hardest to take care of.
But Aurora and Dorian were different, especially obedient.
When adults weren't around, they'd read and learn words on their own.
They'd even prepare gifts for Ella with their own hands.
Anyway, having taken care of so many children, these two were the best-looking and most well-behaved she'd ever seen.
Ella just smiled.
Actually, the existence of these two children was conflicting in her heart.
Sometimes she hated their appearance, hated their father.
She also hated herself for giving birth to them back then.
But when she was really separated from them, Ella worried about them constantly, afraid they weren't eating well or staying warm.
So she still brought them back to Emerald City from abroad without Joshua knowing.
She just hoped that before she divorced Joshua, he wouldn't discover their existence.
After spending an hour with the children.
Ella looked at the time - it was getting late.
She had to go back to the home she shared with Joshua and divorce him as soon as possible.
Back at Tranquil Villa.
It was already very late.
As soon as Ella entered the villa, Karen quickly brought her slippers, saying in a low voice:
"Mrs. Thomas, why are you just getting back? Mr. Thomas has been waiting for you for a long time."
Ella could hardly believe it. "Joshua's home?"
"Yes, he's waiting for you to have dinner in the dining room."
Karen told her Joshua was very unhappy and asked her to hurry over and cheer him up.
Ella changed her shoes and took off her coat as she walked past the entrance.
Sure enough, in the luxurious and spacious dining room, Joshua was wearing a blue vest and black shirt, sitting gracefully and nobly in the dining room working.
Ella couldn't deny he was really charming.
His natural nobility and the steadiness he carried made him look like a successful person from high society.
Especially since Joshua had a handsome face that looked chiseled, with defined bone structure and a tight, smooth jawline.
Sitting there like that, his long, slender fingers with distinct knuckles dancing rapidly on the keyboard.
The way he focused on work was mesmerizing.
Ella realized that although her feelings for Joshua had started to fade after she went abroad.
Now, after being his proper wife for a year, she had fallen helplessly in love with him again.
If it weren't for Scarlett, if it weren't for those two children she had outside, she really wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
Joshua noticed Ella's presence, closed his computer, and pretended to be stern.
"What kind of job do you have that keeps you out from morning till night?"
He wasn't even as busy as Ella.
After a whole year, Joshua still didn't know what Ella did every day when she went out.
Ella gathered her courage and walked over, keeping a straight face as she answered:
"I waited for you at the courthouse all day. Why didn't you show up?"
Since Joshua and Scarlett had kissed in front of everyone, and she didn't want to live with him on edge anymore.
So she had to get this divorce.
"I thought you were just playing around."
Joshua was rarely patient, gesturing to the seat across from him and ordering:
"How long are you going to stay mad? Sit down and eat."
Ella stood still, her attitude firm. "Joshua, I'm not playing around with you. I want a divorce."
Joshua's expression finally darkened.
His eyes also turned cold, his presence intimidating.
"Ella, don't make me angry. There's a limit to throwing tantrums."
Joshua still couldn't understand how just celebrating Scarlett's birthday could make her this angry.
If he really had something going on with Scarlett, would it be Ella's turn to be his wife?
Joshua felt that since Ella was young, he could tolerate her being clingy and throwing tantrums.
So he wouldn't hold it against her.
But Ella was determined, throwing out these words:
"My mind is made up. I'm going to pack my things right now. Even if you won't divorce me, I won't live with you anymore."
