Chapter 52

After Lorenzo and I returned home from our productive meeting at the palace, not including that strange run-in we had with the prince, I felt completely inspired to continue on with my work.

I headed straight to the study and pulled out the laptop Lorenzo allowed me to use for the time being whereas he’d gone off to his office to work on a few calls.

The Lycan Luna made multiple logical points during our discussion. She seemed quite taken with the idea of having the soldiers ‘retrace’ the steps of the investigation. So, I decided that the best thing for me to do for the time being was to reopen my father’s old blog and revisit the case.

But I didn’t stop there.

A feeling in my gut told me that I needed to dig a bit deeper than I initially intended. Why had I only gone back to the last case my father had been trying to work on when there were countless others behind it?

Many of those cases had gone unsolved and certainly unresolved based on most of the pictures my father had saved in his digital folders.

‘How long has this awful business been going on?’ I asked myself dubiously.

Deep down, I truly didn’t want to know the answer to that question. Knowing that I couldn’t very well focus on every single report my father saved, I put a majority of my focus on the four most recent cases he’d last collected.

All four of the disappearances held major similarities that had to be more than just mere coincidence. For instance, those four young girls were all abducted around the same time, just a few weeks apart from each other. They were all ten years old and were last seen walking home from school.

After cross-referencing all four cases, I realized that all of the girls attended the same elementary school. A disturbing chill raced down my spine at the thought of some sick creep personally staking out a school just so they could specifically target young girls.

Other than those obvious facts, for the time being, there weren’t any other clear indications as to why these girls were particularly targeted, aside from the notion that they were all pretty. None of them looked alike.

“It seems that our kidnapper has a sick taste for variety,” I muttered venomously under my breath.

I pressed a hand to the side of my aching head, my thoughts circled around Lorenzo and the story he’d shared with me about his poor mother. She’s not only been abducted when she was just a child, she’d also been sold into a gruesome, hidden sex trade industry.

I wasn’t completely naive. I knew there was a very good chance that those girls had fallen to that same fate. However, there was absolutely nothing in this blog that would indicate such an accusation.

“You need to take a break,” a deep voice called from the doorway. Lorenzo offered me a comforting smile that I didn’t realize how badly I needed.

I let out a long sigh and fell back into my chair.

“I can’t get over how many children have gone missing over the past ten years,” I told him weakly. “It’s disgusting.”

Lorenzo wandered over to the desk and ran a few fingers through my hair, brushing it back from my face. I leaned further into his touch.

“I know,” he said. “But I know that if anyone is going to get to the bottom of these kidnappings, it’s you.”

I felt my cheeks flush from hearing his admiration. “Thank you.” My gaze glanced back at the laptop in disgruntled irritants. “I just feel like I’m missing a huge key factor to all of these cases. It’s frustrating beyond belief.”

“Like I said before, you’re due to take a break,” he pressed. “You’ve had a very busy day, meeting the Lycan Luna and then burying yourself in case files for the last four hours.”

Oh, God. Had it really been four hours since I first sat down here? Granted I managed to collect a good amount of data since I started, but it was hard to believe that most of the day was over.

Nonetheless, my mind felt utterly fried and by the strange look on Lorenzo’s face, I could tell that he knew it too. Suddenly, I felt the air around us start to thicken.

Lorenzo’s eyes grew hooded while his smile grew with deviance. “You know...We didn’t exactly get the stay-in we both needed this morning,” he hummed.

He lazily dragged the tips of his fingers down the curve of my neck.

“No, we didn’t.”

A playful growl vibrated from within his chest. “Go sit over on the couch,” he instructed.

I gave him a questionable look before doing exactly as he said. Moving across the room, I planted myself down in the soft plush cushions.

My eyes widened in shock when Lorenzo proceeded to lower himself down to his knees. He placed his hands over both of my knees and slowly spread my legs, causing my sundress to ride up my thighs.

“Lorenzo!” I hissed out. “What are you—We are in the study for Christ’s sake!”

My scolding him only seemed to drive the man on further. He quirked a brow and allowed his hands to slip beneath the material. The air stalled inside of my lungs when I felt him brush against the flimsy lace of my underwear.

“No one’s going to barge in on us,” he assured me. “And I told you that you needed to take a break. I will not have you overworking yourself. Now, be a good girl and let me help you relax.”

He hooked his fingers under the lacy material and gently pulled my underwear down my legs. My face broke out into a horrible blush, making Lorenzo lightly chuckle.

He leaned forward and kissed the inner side of my thigh, leading a hot trail all the way to my slick center. Every nerve in my body pulsed to life when he swiped his thumb over the swollen bud of my clit.

“Look how wet you are for me,” he praised. Without warning, Lorenzo completely covered my mound with his mouth and lapped heavily at my aching bundle of nerves. My whole body shook, I arched my back off the couch and choked back a loud moan.

He was relentless in his task. He licked, sucked, and nipped at my sensitive folds while continuing to press the tip of his tongue back into my clit.

My mind had gone blank for the time being. All the pressure that had been clouding my head had inexplicably dropped to more core.

I snaked my hands through his soft, silky hair and tugged him closer. I rocked my hips against his face and begged him to never stop. “Ah! Lorenzo! Ah—”

*KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!”

The two of us went completely still as stone.

“Luna Eleanor!” a voice called from outside the door. “Luna, a message has arrived for you! You must read it immediately!”
