Chapter 65

I saw the heated anger flare behind Lorenzo’s eyes. Oh, shit.

My blood ran cold at the realization that he was very likely picking up Cruz’s distinguishable scent which must have clung to me after he and I parted ways at the cafe. It was overly musky and a bit too much on the senses.

Of course, my meeting with Cruz was never meant to have occurred in the first place. But a small voice in the back of my mind told me that I was going to have a hell of a time trying to explain that to Lorenzo.

The man looked like he was on the verge of a total frenzy. I tried to keep my calm, knowing that he was very quickly losing his. Slowly raising my hand up, I kept our gazes locked.

“Lorenzo,” I said evenly. “Listen to me—”

“Why?!” he barked out viciously. “Why the fuck do you smell like Sterling?”

A shiver of fear raced down my spine. I felt my wolf quiver within me. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen Lorenzo lose his resolve to his second nature. But it was a whole other, unsettling experience when it was ‘me’ that it was being directed at.

“C-Cruz showed up in the middle of my meeting Adeline,” I breathed.

“Why was he there?”

I shook my head. “I don’t know. Really, I don’t. He just showed up.”

An uneasy growl rumbled from the back of his throat. His eyes continued to glow a frightening shade of red while being swallowed by two black pools.

My breathing staggered. “L-Lorenzo...Please, calm down.”

His mouth pulled back into an irritated sneer. His voice dropped several octaves. “I don’t like that my mate is covered in someone else’s scent.”

He swiftly closed the space between us and lifted me off my feet while tossing me over his shoulder as though I weighed nothing. A sharp gasp escaped me.

“Lorenzo! What the hell are you doing?!”

He snarled and trudged into the bedroom. “I’m going to get that awful smell off of you,” he told me. “And then, I’m going to remind you who you belong to.”

I could feel the raging temper that was just beneath the surface of his skin as he moved. Lorenzo didn’t stop until we were in the bathroom. He went straight for the oversized shower stall and quickly turned on the water. He dropped me back to my feet and proceeded to stick me under the running shower head till I was completely drenched.

“Ahh! What the hell!” I shouted.

His breathing grew heavier as he stared down at my water-logged body. His eyes locked specifically on my chest where my soaked clothing clung tightly to every one of my curves. Not a second passed before he closed the gap between us once more, the time his lips came crashing down onto mine.

He brutishly shoved me back until I was well-pinned against the tiles behind me. He bent his knee between my thighs and went on to kiss a hot, wet trail down my neck and across my collar. Lorenzo tore at the thin fabric of my clothes till I was completely bare.

My face was flushed beyond control. But, good God, I didn’t care.

His rough and animalistic behavior set something off inside of me that refused to be silenced. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and tried to pull him closer. I needed to have him closer.

He snaked one of his hands down my front to dip between the slick folds between my thighs, gently rubbing over my swollen clit. My back arched off the wall.

“Lorenzo,” I whimpered. “Please.”

He licked a long stripe up the curve of my neck till our gazes locked once more. “What do you need, love? Tell me what you need.”

The space between my legs pulsed with unbridled arousal. My own voice was becoming jumbled up from the moans that kept trying to escape. “You,” I cried out. “I need you...Inside me.”

Much to my dismay, he pulled back but only to do away with his own clothing. An eye-opening awareness was brought to my attention in the few seconds I had to myself. I liked this side of Lorenzo. I found the dominant, possessive, and jealous side of him to be one the sexiest things I’d ever experienced.

The moment he returned to my side, Lorenzo flipped me around so now I was facing the wall in front of me. He kept both his hands firmly on my hips. “You will not move your hands from the wall. Understand?”

I weakly nodded my head. “Yes.”

“Good girl,” he growled.

My body trembled and shook as his hands began roaming up and down my sides. His one hand cupped my breath while the other returned to the sensitive pulse at my core.

“Yes, I knew it was Cruz who was near you,” he stated sternly. “I know that he wants you. How could he not? Fucking look at you. You’re a goddamn masterpiece.”

“Mmm, don’t care,” I hissed. “I don’t care about him.”

He quickened the pace of his hand, pressing the heel of his palm directly into my clit. My nerves coiled and spiraled almost over the edge.

Lorenzo pressed the head of his length against my entrance. In one swift thrust, he was buried inside of my slick channel to the very hilt. He set a harsh, demanding pace that was quick to steal the air from my lungs.

“Why didn’t you come home the moment he approached you?” he asked firmly. “Why did you linger and let his scent sink into you?”

“I...I wanted to see if he would give anything away...About the case...”

“You did what?!” Lorenzo stopped all movement, causing a distressed moan to fly past my lips. “You were goading him? Do you have any idea how dangerous of a situation you could have put yourself in?” he asked incredulously.

“I don’t think he would’ve hurt me.”

Another harsh snarl ripped from his chest. Lorenzo continued to snap his hips, hitting that overly sensitive space inside of me each time. “That’s not the point. Cruz is a dangerous person. Everyone knows that he’s the real man who works behind the scenes in Blue Moon. And, plus, I told you to take a goodman break with this case!”

“Why are you so adamant about this? Nothing bad happened,” I gritted through clenched teeth.

“It doesn’t matter if nothing happened. As your alpha, I have every right to worry about you, Eleanor. I love you and I’ll be damned if I let anything happen to you!”
