Chapter 90

Lorenzo carefully took the rings out of the case and handed them over to Eleanor for the moment. Turning his attention back toward the small, velvet box, he gently shook it again and swiftly concluded that there had to be something inside.

Both Eleanor and Lorenzo shared a look of confusion. What the hell could be making such a noise?

He held up the box to the light fixture, hanging above them and gingerly inspected it with a sharp gaze. Lorenzo barely spotted a small silk tab that was tucked at the bottom of the box.

“I think I found something,” he said.

He carefully worked the tab free and pulled it out to reveal that the ring had possessed a false bottom. Inside the hidden compartment, was a small USB flash drive.

Eleanor watched as his eyes grew wide with disbelief. “What is it? What did you find?” she asked.

“Eleanor...It’s a flash drive.”

Her brows furrowed together. She gave a confused look. “A flash drive? Why would my father hide a flash drive in the ring box?”

Lorenzo glanced around them, becoming fairly self-aware of their current surroundings. “We should go back to the house and inspect this further,” he insisted.

He quickly reconstructs the box and swiftly places the rings back into the box before slipping it into his inner suit pocket. Eleanor slipped her hand into his and the two made their way calmly out. They thanked Micheal for his time and assistance and headed out to the car.

“What do you think is on it?” Eleanor asked him.

Lorenzo lightly shook his head. “I’m not sure. But whatever it is, your father deemed it important enough to keep hidden away for all these years.”

As the two headed back to the house, Eleanor sat back in her seat and allowed herself to wonder about the flash drive. Her nerves filled with bubbling anticipation at the various thoughts of what could possibly be on the drive.

Lorenzo was right, it had to be something important. But what?

‘Maybe the flash drive is filled with a bunch of photos of him and mom,’ she thought wondrously.

Eleanor knew it was wrong to hope for such an unlikely thing. She hardly had a decent amount of photos of her parents when her dad was still alive—she was desperate to get her hands on anymore that she possibly could. But to think anything too positive like this would only be considered tortuous.

Still, it was nice to hope. Otherwise, she truly couldn’t fathom what her father would have placed on the flash drive...

In the meantime, her mind wandered back to their earlier meeting with the Lycan Luna. The whole endeavor had gone a lot better than she emancipated, considering their last encounter was utterly hair-raising. She relished the feeling of once again being backed by a higher authority, but she still wasn’t sure where this extra bout of evidence was going to come from.

As soon as the car pulled up to the house, they rushed inside and headed straight for the office.

[Eleanor’s POV]

I watched Lorenzo carefully take apart the ring box for the second time. He took out the flash drive and pulled it directly into his laptop. He and I huddled in close to glance down at the screen, waiting.

Suddenly, a dark blue, familiar logo popped up. It was the infamous emblem of the Blue Moon Pack. A few seconds later, several other small windows began popping up on the screen. A terrifying thought came rushing through my mind—my God, what if the flash drive was defective?

However, once the final link finished loading, Lorenzo was free to move the cursor around and check out any one of the various windows.

“Let’s try this one,” he muttered.

He started to loosely scroll through one of them only to discover that there was nothing but hundreds of dozens of names. There were names of girls along with their individual ages, dates of collection, and something worse.

Attached to every female name was a list of male associates. Some of the names were instantly recognizable. Many of them are Royal, political, law officials, and high profile people whose careers would be ruined if this list were to ever fall into the wrong hands.

I felt my body begin to shake. My nerves were coiling and jittering to no end.

“Lorenzo...What the fuck is this?” I gasped. “Oh my God! Lorenzo...This has to be what Cruz has been searching for the whole time.”

Lorenzo appeared as disturbed as I felt. He paled at least several shades lighter and rubbed a rough hand down his face.

“This is ‘the list’. It’s a record sheet of all the girls that had been taken and sold into Blue Moon’s illegal, hidden slave-trade operation.”

I struggled to swallow the lump in my throat as my eyes bore into the screen. The further he continued to scroll through the seemingly endless list, the more my stomach lurched in disgust. My God, I felt like I was looking at a demon’s playbook.

“Wait!” I said. “Scroll back up a little.”

There was a name that immediately caught my attention...Agatha Wilde.

“Lorenzo, look,” I whispered. Small tears were beginning to gather in the corners of my eyes.

“It’s Agatha’s file...We were right,” he said stiffly. “It wasn’t just a random kidnapping case. She’s been abducted and sold into this fucked up business Sterling has been operating for God only knows how long.”

Beneath Agatha’s file, there was another name that caught our attention. Lucy Grant.

My hand came to cover Lorenzo’s “Let me,” I said.

I needed to be the one who clicked on her file to see the names that were attached to her case. ‘Click.’

My stomach hurt and I clamped my hand over my mouth. Lorenzo wrapped a supportive arm around my shoulder and looked me over with a fair level of concern.

Amongst the numerous revolting names of men that were listed, the Royal Prince was clearly one of them. A seething feeling of unadulterated rage seeped into my blood.

“That sick fucking bastard!” I hissed. The tears slowly rolled down my cheeks. “So this is how Cruz has been controlling everyone around him. This list is his only form of leverage that he holds over these people.”

Lorenzo rubbed my arms and held me close as the nausea struggled to subside.

“But now we’re the ones who have it,” he stated.

Something vicious started to emerge from within me. An unyielding sense of anger and vengeance coursed through me. Lorenzo was right. Now that we were the ones in possession of the list, we were also in control of Cruz and the unfortunate future of Blue Moon.
