Chapter 6. News of Pregnancy

Leo’s POV

The moment he dropped he sat downon the couch, his phone began to ring. The caller ID flashed her name — Suzanne.

He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose before answering. “Hey, babe.”

“Hi? Baby? Really, Leo?” Her voice was sharp, trembling with irritation. “You left the office before I even got there. Can you just stop doing that? You couldn’t even inform me you were leaving?”

Leo frowned, confused. “I didn’t think it was a big deal, Suzanne.

Moreover why did you come to the office you did not inform me.Do you know the situation you have gotten us into.

“Not a big deal?” she cut him off. “You are so useless sometimes! So insensitive! If you were sensible enough, I wouldn’t even be in this situation right now!”Whatever problem you have cannot be compared to mine.

He froze. “What situation?”

“Don’t you dare raise your voice at me,” she snapped. “I’m not your ex-wife, Leo. I won’t take that nonsense from you.”

His heart started to race. “suzanne, what are you talking about?”

There was a pause — a heavy silence that stretched between them, filled with the sound of her unsteady breathing. Then she said it.

“I’m pregnant.”

The words hit him like a thunderclap. His grip on the phone loosened. “What— what did you just say?”

“I said I’m pregnant,” she repeated, her voice quieter now but still cold. “And don’t you dare ask me how. You know perfectly well how.”

“Suzanne! wait—”

But before he could say another word, she hissed and ended the call.

Leo stood there, frozen, staring at his reflection in the dark television screen. His pulse was pounding in his ears. Pregnant. The word kept echoing in his mind, louder and louder, until he couldn’t take it anymore.

“Let me just… turn on the TV before I lose my mind,” he muttered, fumbling for the remote.

He sank onto the couch, pressing the power button. The screen flickered to life, flooding the room with color and sound. But the noise did little to fill the silence inside him.

He leaned back, exhaling shakily, his hand running through his hair. “Pregnant…” he whispered again, disbelief etched on his face. “What the hell have I done?”

The news anchor’s voice droned in the background, but Leo wasn’t listening.

I decided to surprise Leo. With a playful smile, I called him and said, “I’m in your office.”

There was a pause on the line—too long to be casual. Finally, he said, “Okay… you can come up.”

But by the time I reached his floor and approached the secretary, he was already gone.

“I’m here to see my boyfriend,” I said confidently. “He’s expecting me.”

The secretary gave a short laugh, not even trying to hide it. “Unfortunately, he just rushed out. So how could he be expecting you?”

I blinked. What?

“How dare you laugh at me,” I snapped and walked straight past her, pushing into his office. Empty.

The silence in the room was deafening. I stood there, humiliated and furious. How could he treat me like this?

I called him again, my hands shaking. He picked up, his voice tight and irritated.

I shouted how could you leave me alone like this? Then I continued as he shouted I am not your

ex wife that you should talk to like that.

“Moreover, why did you come to the office?”

I didn’t even think—I just blurted it out. “I’m pregnant.”

I hadn’t planned to say it. Not like that. Not without knowing what he wanted to tell me. And I could tell—whatever news he had for our relationship, it wasn’t good.

As I cut the call, I sat in the cold silence of his office, staring at the space, trying to breathe.

How do I even get pregnant… just to convince that brat Leo to marry me?
