Chapter 2 #2

DUNCAN

"How come the rogues were able to trespass through my territory?" The roar ripped from my chest . I slammed my fist onto the desk, "It’s been years since such an occurrence has happened. Are you not doing your job properly?”

Michael, my beta, stood across from me. He didn't flinch, but the slight tightening around his jaw betrayed his tension. "I have no idea how that happened, Alpha," he admitted, keeping his voice steady despite the fury rolling off me. "It’s unusual to see them here. It’s been a long time since we’ve had rogues trespassing on our territory, but whatever their reason for coming, we’ve managed to catch some of them and throw them in the cells."

I turned my attention to the computer screen on my desk, my fingers flying across the keyboard as I pulled up the security logs.

"Send more men to guard the borders immediately," I instructed, not looking up from the screen. "If anyone else dares to trespass on our land, they should behead whoever it is. I don't care if they are young or old."

Michael swallowed hard, his throat moving as he processed the ruthlessness of the command. He gave a firm single nod. "Understood, Alpha."

A  knock sounded at the door.

I gave Michael a brief signal, nodding toward the entrance. "Tell whoever it is to come in."

As the door handles turned, I settled deep into my chair. Two of my trusted scouts, Eran and Leo, whom I had dispatched days ago to scout neighboring territories for potential breeders, stepped into the office.

They immediately bowed their heads.

Eran was the first to speak up, clearing his throat slightly. "Alpha, we’ve brought some females back to the territory. And we’re very sure you’d be satisfied. We made sure to pick from the best.”

I rolled and locked my eyes with his, a smirk threatening to touch my lips. "I’m surprised any sane female was willingly to accept to breeding with me.” I murmured, my voice dry. The world knew the reputation of my bloodline, cruel and unforgiving.

Leo responded quickly, shifting his weight. "There’s a rumor that has spread around for years about your handsome appearance, Alpha. It draws them in I guess."

I raised an eyebrow, entirely unamused by the stupid flattery. I hate being flattered.

Eran stepped forward, eager to support his partner. "Aside from rumors, it’s indeed a fact. Many were eager for the chance, that’s why they agreed on the spot."

"Where are the females now?" I cut through, wanting to get the business over with. My patience was already running low.

"They’re waiting just outside your office, Alpha," Leo said.

I shifted in my chair, adjusting my cuffs. "Bring them in."

Eran bowed low, turning to the door and gesturing for the group to enter. One by one, a line of young women stepped into the spacious room. Every single one of them kept their heads down.

From my sitting position, I assessed them one by one.

They were beautiful, certainly, but they felt entirely ordinary. Pale imitations of what I needed. A sigh escaped my lips.

Seeing my silence and the growing disappointment in my posture, Eran spoke up again, his voice hesitant.

"Alpha...we made sure to pick the best suitable females like i mentioned earlier and we actually came across one female during our search. She has very white hair and is extremely beautiful, small. But... she wasn't willingly cooperating."

I didn't pay his words any mind, dismissing the comment with a faint wave of my hand. Unwilling females were common, and I had no desire to force a broken woman into my bed just for the sake of her face. I have no patience. Never had.

But Leo couldn't seem to let it rest. He took a half step forward, his brow furrowed as he looked at Eran. "Not only was she unwilling..."

Eran nudged Leo with his elbow, shooting him a warning glare that practically screamed for him to shut his mouth. "Don't say anything more you moron," Eran muttered under his breath.

Leo bristled, ignoring the warning as he kept his eyes on me. "We can’t keep anything from the Alpha," he insisted, his voice rising. He looked directly at me. "Alpha, you should know what she did."

That friction between my men caught my attention. I narrowed my eyes, leaning forward slightly as a sudden curiosity pricked at my mind. "Speak."

Leo took a breath, though he looked suddenly nervous under my direct stare. "The female…omega, she had been a little rude, Alpha. When we mentioned our purpose, she looked us in the eye and said she wouldn't breed for a bedamned alpha." He paused, then said, “But it could’ve been a mistake, or perhaps we didn’t hear it correctly.” A nervous chuckle escaped him

My face remained entirely blank. I didn't show any emotion, but both Eran and Leo instantly stiffened. They had served me long enough to know exactly what that absolute stillness meant. A little pack omega using such venom against my name was a dangerous move.

In the silence that followed, one of the females standing in the line used the distraction to sneak a look at me. Her eyes lifted, scanning my face, but I caught her gaze instantly, my dark eyes snapping to hers.

The woman let out a gasp, her face flushing with sudden heat as she quickly lowered her gaze back to the floor, her entire body trembling.

I looked away from her, my mind completely discarding the women standing in front of me. A girl with white hair and a tongue sharp enough to curse a king.

I locked eyes with Eran and Leo.

"Return these females back to where they came from," I ordered.

“Alpha?” Eran asked, frowning. “Are you sure? These are some of the finest female candidates we’ve gathered. Perhaps you’d like to rethink your—”

"And bring that particular white haired female to me. I don't care if she comes willingly or unwillingly. Just bring her ME."
