Chapter 6 A Visit To Grandpa's

Penelope

A sigh flew out of my lips as I withdrew my hand from the door and turned around to face him.

I found myself staring at him forgetting my annoyance that second. Tyrell was wearing a white t-shirt that clung to every part of his muscular body almost as if the shirt was too small for him. His hair fell on his shoulders and he looked so breathtakingly handsome that I almost forgot to breathe for a second until his voice filled the room.

"Could you stop staring at me like that? And why do you have the same colour of clothes as mine?"

I took a look at him from his head down to his legs and looked at myself, only then did I realise that we were both wearing black and white the only difference was that he was wearing black sweatpants while I had a black jean on. I was too busy drooling over him to even notice that. I scolded myself mentally, I really had to get a hold of myself whenever I was standing in front of this man else I was going to embarrass myself every damn time.

I made a scrunched-up face and folded my arms over my chest.

"Me staring at you? You wish. I'm pretty sure you copied my outfit."

I was feigning innocence about not staring at him even though he saw me. And I knew he hadn't copied my outfit, he got dressed first. This was purely coincidental, why was he trying to make it a big deal? Apart from having a badmouth, he was cursed with pettiness as well.

He snorted and his face darkened, his sea-blue eyes peering at me with its usual coldness but he said nothing.

Tired of the intensity of his stares, I decided to speak up remembering that my grandpa was waiting for me.

"I have somewhere to go if you would excuse me."

He arched a brow at me, "And where is that if I may ask?"

Really? I had to tell where I was going. Was he trying to play the authoritative husband here wanting to know about my movements?

"It is none of your business." I sassed and watched his eye flicker with anger and a dark smile touched his face.

"Keep your sassiness to yourself, I honestly don't care, I'm only asking because my grandfather would care."

I didn't care if he cared or not, I didn't give a damn about him but went silent giving it a thought, even though I hated to agree that he was right, he was right. His grandfather would ask after me and I just didn't want to get anyone worried

"I am going over to my Grandpa's place and I won't be back until evening," I stated hoping he wasn't going to say anything else to spite me.

"Good for you. I will call Luke and have him get the car to take you." He mumbled taking his phone from his pants pocket.

"No."

"I didn't ask," His response got me gawking at him with anger. His expression was stiff as he acted completely oblivious to my eyes on him, he just continued to press his phone while I stood there looking like a fool.

"I'm going to take a cab. I do not need..." I started to say but the door creaked open and before I could move away so the door wouldn't hit me since I was standing right behind it, the door hit the back of my head.

A groan left my lips as massaged the back of my head with my fingertips while I moved away from the door.

I glared at Tyrell when his chuckle crammed my ears.

"That must have hurt," He commented and I didn't bother to resist the urge to roll my eyes at him.

"No, it didn't. It was painless." My voice was heavy with sarcasm.

He lifted an amused brow and burst into laughter making me scowl at him.

He stopped laughing and I heard him say, "Be more careful next time Luke."

I shifted my eyes to Luke who had entered the room and was standing a few steps from me.

"I'm sorry, ma'am." He gave me an apologetic look.

I shook my head, "It's fine. It's not your fault, you didn't know I was done."

"It's a good thing you are smart enough to know it's entirely your fault." Tyrell jeered.

It wasn't entirely my fault, it was his as well. If he hadn't stopped me when I was about to walk out of the door then I would not have stayed behind the door in the first place but I didn't utter a retort, I decided to let it slide.

"See. You know I'm right." He smiled proudly and my face contorted in a frown.

He mistook my silence as agreeing to him but it still wasn't enough to get me to reply to him. I had somewhere to go and if I ended up replying to every single thing Tyrell said then we could go on bickering till the sun set.

I muttered a 'thank you' to Luke as I alighted the car. I drew in a breath and smiled as I looked around the surroundings of my grandpa's house. Beautiful bright-coloured flowers were blooming on both sides of the house. My grandpa loved flowers, different varieties of them, and I could say I got my love for flowers from him. I looked up at the sky and gazed downward immediately as the sun was peeking from the horizon and it blinded my eye. It was hot and sunny despite the fact that it was still morning, good thing I was wearing sunscreen.

I smiled to myself and ambled to the door. I bit my lower lips as the thought of my grandpa being aware of my marriage swam into my head. Letting out a breath, I reached for the doorbell and rang it. It didn't take long before the door was pulled open and I was embraced by Oliver.

"Pennie," He called as he pulled away.

I flashed a smile at him.

"One would think that we haven't seen each other in years." I chuckled.

"It feels like that even though I saw you yesterday." He nodded.

I was feeling the same way, I missed him too.

"Oli, did you tell Grandpa?" I asked in a whisper just in case Grandpa was close by.

Oliver opened his mouth to say something but before he could we heard Grandpa's voice from inside

"I know you love talking to your sister Oli but could you please let her come in first."

Oliver chortled and I smiled, if only Grandpa knew that I was the one reluctant to go in.

"Yes, Grandpa," Oliver answered and gazed at me.  When he saw that I was hesitant to take a step, he took my hand and pulled me with him.

I forgot all about my thoughts the moment I saw my grandpa seated on the couch. His eyes sparkled like stars and his lips curved into a smile when he saw me. Was it me or he looked even better than the last time I saw him? This man had great genes, he could pass off as my Dad's brother anytime. He didn't look his age at all.

"Good morning, Grandpa." I greeted.

He got up on his feet but before he could walk to me, I rushed to him and hugged him.

"Pennie sweetie. She missed me so much but she wouldn't agree to move in here with me. I'm glad someone agreed to."

I pulled away from the hug and my eyes darted to Oliver, he had a wide smile on his face but when he noticed that my eyes were on him, he kept a straight face.

He was that someone. He moved in with Grandpa? Before I could ask I saw Aunt Lilly walk into the room. Something was definitely up seeing that she was here as well.

"You are here already." She smiled spreading her arms wide for a hug.

I scooted to her and she pulled me in a warm hug.

"You've grown so lean," she frowned taking a very good look at me after breaking the hug.

"I was just about to say that," Grandpa concurred and I smiled.

They always said that whenever they saw me so it wasn't anything new.

"And you look hungry." Aunt Lilly pursed her lips.

She was right about that, I wasn't just hungry, I was beyond famished. Was it that obvious?

She clasped her hands together and chuckled, "Well breakfast is ready, I made muffins and juice."

My heart leapt with joy and my mouth watered as we all moved to the dining ready to have Aunt Lilly's savoury muffins and freshly squeezed fruit juice.

The dining was silent as we ate, even without looking I could tell their eyes were on me, but I was so busy eating that it didn't matter to me as much as the muffins did at that moment.

It did take me a lot of eating etiquette to resist stuffing my face with two muffins at a time. I loved having her muffins, and she loved making them for me since she knew how much I enjoyed them.

I looked up to see everyone staring at me seeing how fast I had emptied my plate and glass. I peeked at their plates and glasses, they still had something in them. I moved my gaze to Aunt Lilly, concern etched her face and then Oliver and Grandpa had worry creeping unto their faces.

"Did you skip dinner last night?" She asked with soft eyes.

"Have you had anything to eat today?" Grandpa's question came next.

"I think the question should be when last did she have anything to eat." Oliver chipped in.

I forced a burst of laughter having another glimpse of their facial expressions. They gave me a puzzled look and I stopped laughing and cleared my throat ready to voice out a lie.

"To answer all of your questions. You all know how much I love Aunt Lilly's muffins."

Grandpa and Aunt Lilly bought my lie, I could tell because they smiled. But Oliver gave me that I know you just lied look and I avoided his gaze.

"Here have some more, if they aren't enough I'll make more." Aunt Lilly said keeping the tray that contained the remaining muffins in front of me.

"This is too much...." I paused looking up at her before I continued.

"I was just kidding," I chuckled.

She smiled and shook her head then she took the jug containing the juice and poured some into my empty glass.

"I know... but you almost got me there though."

I giggled picking up my plate and started to put some muffins in it.

"I can't hold it in anymore, Pennie. What's this I heard about you being married?" My grandpa verbalised which made me drop the plate and tilt my head to meet his gaze.
