Chapter 7 Chapter # 7
‘And maybe… such a moment won’t arrive ever again.’ This thought made me shiver in dread, ‘No, no, no-’
"What are you thinking, Zariah?" He asked, noticing my dazed state.
"Father is returning tomorrow with Alessandra." I told him quietly, waiting for his reaction but he showed none, as if he didn't care- he didn't.
"Ah, great, we can finally return now."
"What do you mean?" I asked, perplexed by his words.
"I know you are attached to Alessandra, I wanted you to meet her before leaving because your Father doesn't care as he didn't even bother to attend our marriage."
He sneered, stating the heartbreaking fact I was trying to ignore.
Father had some work so he took Alessandra and left me right before the wedding.
"Because he knows-" I tried to defend my Father but he hissed,
"He knows what? That this marriage is only for eliminating Axel and you mean nothing?"
My breath hitched when his voice raised in fury. Giving me a grave stare to bear the fatality but noticing my distress he calmed down with a sigh.
"Doll, why don't you understand you are here for longer than you can perceive? Fuck him,” He breathed out, calming down after noticing my startle by his statement.
"Whatever it is, He is right," My voice came out like a vague whisper.
Lowering my eyes in dejection, facing me the bitter reality of losing him even when I have him.
“My fault, I said the truth.”
Holding a strange glisten I have never seen before in his eyes, almost a devotion he had never emerged.
"Whatever, I want you to meet your childhood friend before leaving and bid her goodbye properly." He said, tone once again received into sweetness, coated with a thick layer of fakeness one couldn't find.
Nathaniel was a mysterious man and it was not in my grasp to unveil his mysteries/
"Thank you." I mocked, yanking his hand back, turning my head away.
"I will go along with you." He said- demanded after a while we had eaten and started our drive again.
"Go where?"
"To pick your Father."
"You don't have to."
"And as long as you are mine, I don't want him anywhere near you." He hissed.
"Why?" I asked, not liking his hatred for my Father.
"Because, he is-" He paused, "He is the man I resent."
"And you are married to me, I am your priority now. You might be living with him all this time but at this moment, I exist. Not him. Do I make myself clear?" He growled.
Glaring indirectly at me to follow his words unless I wanted to compete with his dominance.
Startled by his possessiveness, not wanting to rile him up, I nodded worriedly, "I.. understand."
"Good."
He finally returned his usual smirk of pride of holding power over me.
Leaving me at his doorsteps and I have no other choice but to comply with his words.
"So, How was your day?" He asked, when we reached home.
"Fine. Yours?"
"Usual."
We got out and I didn't know why but he loved forging intimacy among us as he held my hand when we came inside.
"Um, Nathaniel."
"Yeah?"
"How was I supposed to work from New York City? I can't sit back. I am not cut out to be a housewife, I need work." I reasoned.
"Work or bloodlust? Can't you spend two days without killing someone?" He mocked, patting my shoulder playfully.
Folding my arms at my chest, I rolled my eyes, "I don't want to hear this from the Plague Doctor."
"Okay then. Why don't you guys switch places?”
“What do you mean?”
“You expand the business to New York and take control from them and leave all of this shit to your old man?" He suggested.
Shrugging his shoulders, taking off his shirt, revealing his glorious body, walking up to me, wallowing in my crimson shade adorning my cheeks.
"It's a great idea, don't you think?"
Putting his one hand across my face, imprisoning me in the cage of his eyes, and I couldn’t stop this deadly potion of attraction.
"Will you let me work?" I asked innocently.
"Of course I will. You will turn insane if you stay at home... having such a monotonous life. Normal is for humans, not puppets."
He chuckled darkly, poking my nose, ensuring I agreed without resistance before getting back and plopping on the couch.
"I see. Thank you," I forced a smile.
Walking away, going to the wardrobe, taking out my casual clothes to take a shower and ease up my muscles.
He was whistling while using his phone as I received a call from my best friend, Alessandra, probably to check up on things.
“Hey,”
I attended the call cautiously, glancing to check if he was listening or not.
“Hey, how is everything going?”
“Fine for now, he doesn’t suspect a thing,”
Soon a vile smirk spread across my lips, snickering, “He thinks I am weak as fuck,”
“Good. Earn his trust, make sure he believes in you over everything else,”
“I know,”
“And when the right time will come,”
Taking a momentary pause, my eyes darkened, enunciating my real intentions behind his frontage.
“I will end him,”
