Chapter 2 Prowling Alphas - Death By Breathing

Now, the facts are that with Alphas being the aggressive beings that they are they tend to always be “on the prowl” for lack of a better phrase, to find an eligible female of breeding age and secure her as his bonded.

Now as I said about the bond between Dean and Rachelle, they bonded because they fell in love. That is actually highly irregular in our society now, which is just fucking sad to be honest.

The normal bonding bullshit is either a bond where two immune or altered people find each other and fall in love or discover it is in some way advantageous for them to bond. There’s no longer really any organized religion, only a bunch of cults you have to be a fucking moron to get involved with, so there’s no big marriage ceremonies anymore. Now it’s just procuring bonding paperwork.

As our world or at least my part of it, is separated into regions rather than how we were taught it used to be with states and stuff, Each of those regions are run by the biggest, baddest Alpha. He has a whole office and staff and all that shit, but all laws and decisions have to go through his office. So, if you wish to bond, you request formal bonding paperwork, once it’s approved you are now legally bonded. As you get more members they are just then added to your bond on the papers. I’ve never heard of a petition being denied, so this is just more paperwork, which I understand was a thing even before.

The next type of bonding is actually divided into two groups. The first is a relatively normal Alpha pairing bond. This just means an Alpha found a girl he likes and wishes to bond with her and try for lots of Alpha babies.

He would go to the girl’s family and formally request to bond her, and as families never say no to an Alpha, they give their blessing. The pair then petitions for the formal paperwork and they are bonded. Occasionally money will change hands, but that is kept very hush, hush.

Now, Alphas have one other thing that they require when bonding, the mating mark or bite as it is called. I think it’s just an excuse Alpha’s made up to seem more dominant or bad ass or some other bullshit. So, while fucking each other’s brains out to consumate the bond, the kinky Alpha will bite, which supposedly has an effect of bonding their DNA together in some way due to the Alpha gene. Sounds like bullshit, but oh well.

That is the happy shiny side of bonding. Now, should said female not wish to bond with said Alpha the only recourse she has is if her family has enough balls to stand up to the Alpha and say no, or if he is an actual honorable Alpha he will accept her refusal and move on.

The majority of the time the Alpha will pursue the bond anyway. Since no one can bring charges against and Alpha unless they are a stronger Alpha, They can basically do whatever the fuck they want, so her refusal means jack shit. If her father or fathers are stronger Alphas she is safe, if not, he can take her anyway. Bonds are for life, so once it’s done, it can’t be undone.

The other type of Alpha bond is rather the unicorn of bonding. It’s called a true mate bond, and I personally have never witnessed one.

Basically if an Alpha sees a female and is suddenly struck with love at first sight, way too reminiscent of those old romance novels in my opinion. Supposedly the female will have been hit by the love at first sight as well.

When this happens the bonding paperwork is procured and then the other aspect of a true mate bond comes into play. When said Alpha delivers the mating bite, rather than just imprinting their DNA it triggers a “mating heat” which just is all parties involved loosing their minds and fucking until none of them can walk. This usually takes about 3 days. At the end the female has a shiny new bite or bites and they are all mated and bonded forever. They always say those involved have no memory of the mating heat afterwards.

One last aspect of a true mate bond, which really makes it this amazing thing, is fertility. Supposedly true mates have super fertility and can produce more children, but again. I personally have never seen this phenomenon.

Now, with my parents being social climbing assholes, I know the clock is ticking until my father tries to sell me to some Alpha in a business deal.

So, Dean, Rachelle, and I have made a plan and provisions to get the hell out of here before that can happen.

During my education I realized that my intelligence was above average, as I didn’t forget things. I found out later it is called Hypothymia, which is just face talk for I don’t forget shit. I kept it hidden except from Dean and Rachelle.

It has allowed me to further my computer skills and use those to create security programs and plan to build a computer security company. Dean and Rachelle are my partners and will be coming with me to help.

I just secured my first paying client recently, and I received payment for their use of my security program in their company. So now we have the funds to secure passage from this sector, and then set up to get permission to cross regions.

You can’t travel between regions without approval from the Alpha’s office of the region you wish to enter. Knowing that just across my region would not keep me from my father’s grubby little hands, I crated a false identity quite a while ago and have been using it for computer work to hide my tracks.

So I will use that to submit a request to go across the boarder to live in a new region. There the three of us will build my company and live happily ever after. That’s the plans anyway.
