Chapter 6
Raina had no idea what she wanted to do just yet. Margaret, who she just found out was her soon to be mother in-law, seemed like a nice person so far. But then , she couldn't just leave everything like that and start living with the Kingstons that she had known for barely three hours. She wrung her hands, thankful that Aaron didn't walk into the room anymore. He seemed to have some sort of energy that compelled her to do just anything he did. He was able to make her go with the flow. An effect that she was already hating.
She walked slowly, out of the room, and into the hallway. Raina finally had the time to go through all the pottery, and expensive paintings that were in arranged places. She was trying to find her way to the main door, and it all seemed to difficult to do. This wasn't the kind of luxury that she was used to. And here it was, being offered to her on a platter. But she didn't want to take it up for some reason.
The only thing she could think of, was going to see her best friend, Ariel.
"Do you need something?" The butler asked her out of nowhere, and she nodded.
"The exit," she managed to say, and he led her to the door in the most graceful manner. She didn't know how he managed to keep his cool when he worked for someone like Aaron. Raina could t help but be thankful that there was no one in the living room as she headed out. The door slammed shut behind her. The breeze blew threw her hair as she managed to get a cab to her friend's home immediately. She practically had nothing to her name at that point.
She had barely rang the doorbell when the door opened, with Ariel holding on to the door.
"I wanted to..." she started, when Ariel pulled her into the house, shutting door behind her.
"What were you thinking?" Ariel asked immediately, and Raina frowned.
"Did Kai do something else?" She asked, and Ariel shook her head.
"I heard about everything that went down with Kai. And of all people, Jamie?" She asked, and Raina could only sigh, blinking back the tears. That was all she had been doing the whole time. Trying to stop herself from crying.
"I should have expected it. I guess I just didn't see the signs quickly."
Ariel quickly brought her in for a hug. "You shouldn't be blaming yourself. I mean, you are welcome to stay here until whenever. I'm ready to help you build your own empire if you want. We both know that Jamie would never be able to handle it as well as you. Besides, you are now pregnant with his child."
"It's not his," Raina blurted before she could hold it back. She looked up at Ariel, expecting the worst of screams. But there was nothing. Just a blank expression.
"How did it happen?" Ariel asked, and Raina started pacing the room.
"There was a sperm mix up, and I somehow ended up with Aaron Kingston's sperm inside me. I'm carrying his baby."
"Aaron Kingston?" Ariel asked, with shock written all over her face. "The billionaire business man?"
Raina nodded slowly. "And I'm just coming from his house. He wants me to be his girlfriend in the main time. I have no idea what he wants to gain out of it all, but that's what he wants."
Ariel sat down, with her mouth open. "I hope you have agreed," she said, and Raina frowned.
"I can't just agree. He's still practically a stranger."
"Well, you would only get to know him when you give him a chance. Girl, you should have agreed to it all already."
Raina, unable to think straight at that point in time was already being swayed by Ariel's words. Maybe she did need someone to keep her company while she was in a state like that.
"Besides, he would be more than able to help you build your empire back up."
Raina shook her head. "I'm not just about to use him for his money."
Her phone rang immediately, and she quickly reached into her pocket. It was an unknown number. She quickly answered, pressing the phone to her ear.
"Where did you go?" She heard Aaron's rich voice on the other end. A voice that she was having a hard time forgetting. The voice of the father of her child.
"I need time to think," she said, and heard him exhale on the other end.
"There isn't much time, Raina." Raina felt herself gasp as her name left his mouth. She couldn't help but wonder how he got her number in the first place. "You don't have more than two days to decide."
Just as she opened her mouth to reply, another call came in. It was a call from her brother, Ryan. She quickly answered the call.
"Hello?" She said.
"Is this Raina Ashborne?" A feminine voice asked, and Raina frowned.
"Yes, it is. Where is Ryan? Why are you with his phone?"
"Ryan is here at the hospital. He was just admitted."
The phone fell out of her hands on to her lap. Ariel quickly picked the phone, listening to everything that was happening, and quickly noted down the name of the hospital.
As soon as they got there, Raina hurried to the reception. "I'm looking for Ryan Weston," she said, and the reception quickly directed her to his room.
Ryan was the only person that she had left. Ariel was right beside her like the supportive friend that she always had.
"He's still undergoing treatment, ma'am," a nurse told her, and she tried peeking into the room, where doctors seemed to gather around her brother's body.
"What happened?" He was involved in an accident. He was brought in by some passersby."
"When will I be able to see him?" She asked and the nurse glanced back at the room.
"Probably within twelve hours. But for now, you should start making payment."
Raina nodded, following the nurse. She had started to fill in the papers, and gave her credit card. As soon as the nurse swiped it, she frowned.
"It's not going through, ma'am," she said, and Raina herself frowned. There was quite a sufficient amount of money there.
"Try it again," she said, and the nurse nodded.
"Still insufficient balance."
Raina's phone beeped, and she hurried to check her texts. It was a text from the last person she wanted to think about at that point in time.
Kai.
"Oh I forgot to tell you that you can no longer use the card as well." The text message said, and Raina felt her world crumble right in front of her.
