"Jasmine and Nicole really do look quite similar," Richard Hayes remarked, causing both sisters-in-law to turn their heads simultaneously.

They were of the same height and had similar body shapes and facial features. Even their eyes, with a slightly mischievous glimmer when they looked at someone, possessed the same round shape and upturned ends.

If there were any differences, it was that Nicole Carter appeared more natural, with a softer body, fairer and more delicate complexion, and a fuller figure resembling a cloud. Perhaps due to her younger age, her eyes held a hint of innocence and purity, effortlessly captivating others' attention.

Jasmine Ortiz instinctively glanced at Robert Hayes, who lounged lazily on a bar stool next to the kitchen island. His long, lean body leaned against the counter, his slender fingers twirling a highball glass containing a deep red liquid, seemingly unaware.

Upon hearing Richard's words, he lifted his eyelids and looked at Nicole standing beside him. The lights from passing cruise ships outside cast intricate patterns of brightness and darkness on his face, adding an alluring ambiguity to his deep and profound eyes.

Jasmine's heart sank, and her face followed suit, frowning as she turned around, shooting Richard a disdainful look. She promptly tossed most of the vegetables she had just chopped into the nearby sink.

Nicole, with her back facing the group, was startled by Jasmine's furious action. Realizing that something wasn't right, she quickly smiled and said, "Hayes is just talking nonsense. How can I compare to Jasmine? If anything, it's that I resemble her."

Jasmine, born into a wealthy family, although not as well-off as the Hayes family, had grown up in luxury and naturally developed a bit of a temper. She couldn't tolerate comparisons.

Though Nicole was younger, she always advocated for peace and harmony within the family and was willing to appease Jasmine.

"Oh, yes..." Richard also realized that his previous words were inappropriate and hastily amended, "Jasmine, you are much more beautiful than Nicole. Our Nicole still acts like a child, always hugging her milk bottle and never stopping, compared to you, she falls far behind."

"Who are you calling a child?!" Nicole turned around, holding a cabbage in her hands, pretending to be angry at Richard. Her playful act caused everyone to burst into laughter.

Richard approached, hugging her and kissing her cheek, then handed her an already opened box of milk, saying with a smile, "Silly girl, here's your milk. You still have a long way to catch up to our Jasmine, don't you?"

It was midnight, and the Hayes' mansion was engulfed in darkness. Jasmine lay in bed, unable to sleep. The conversation earlier at dinner still echoed in her mind. Richard's mention of Nicole's resemblance to her had stirred up an indescribable feeling within her.

She turned over and looked at Robert, who was sound asleep next to her. She thought back to her childhood when she fell in love at first sight with this man. He became the constant figure in her dreams and fantasies as she grew up. She couldn't help but admire his intelligence, his charm, and his gentle and caring nature.

However, fate had played a cruel joke on her. Robert became her brother-in-law when he married her older sister, Nicole. Her heart ached every time she witnessed their happiness.

Tonight, that ache intensified. The revelation of Nicole's uncanny resemblance to her reignited the forbidden desire she had tried so hard to suppress.

Jasmine decided to confront Nicole. She couldn't bear to live in the shadows of her own emotions any longer. She needed to confess her true feelings, to know if Nicole felt the same way.
