Chapter 4

Nyra’s POV

“Just trust me, okay?” Rowan could easily sense my fright and that made me even more frightened. He looked like nothing could ever be hidden from him.

Everything was happening too fast for me to keep up with. I had barely known the actual personality of my mate and I was already moving in with him. Then there was also the problem of his people accepting me. But that looked less like a problem as he seemed to be powerful enough to override everyone's opinion and have things his way.

“Okay…?” He instantly ended the long ride my train of thoughts had taken me on and that made me come back to the present.

I nodded weakly, smiling slightly as I slowly looked at him again. It was almost like I was trying to check if he was still as handsome as he had been in the woods while in the backseat of his car with me.

“If roses are red and violets are blue, then a smile would surely look better on you…” he made me smile even more when he smiled for the first time in a while. He had seemed a lot like a different person while confronting the rogues and Kayla's father than when he was efficiently delivering those word plays.

“How did you become so good with words?” I just couldn't hold back my curiosity even though it had been quite hard for me to ask any questions just yet. The sort of power and authority he had displayed, along with his aura had made me feel like I had been held at gunpoint.

“Well…let's just say some people are born with awesomeness and some others have to learn how to be awesome. But fortunately, I am awesomeness itself…” he left me laughing a bit, as I didn't see that coming. Though that could have easily sounded boastful, it sounded so good hearing him say it.

“How did you come up with,”

The car came to give me a rather abrupt stop which got me scared until he spoke up. “We are here…”

“Okay…” Just as I was about to get over how startled I had been from how quickly we had gotten to his place, the door opened. That made my heart skip.

“Just calm down…” Rowan said, smiling. “My men will take you to the maids and they will get you some new clothes which are deserving of a Luna…”

I really didn't know why every single thing he said made my heart skip a couple of beats. That right there really made me gasp for breath as I had been called a maid and a Luna on the same day.

“Alright…” I was really beginning to wonder how exactly I was supposed to transition from being quickly into a Luna. It was bound to take some work but then it will be better than the work of a maid.

I breathed in the fresh air of the new surroundings and it was quite pleasing. It was a lot better than the Moonfang Park which was saturated with I hate and every other negative emotion I could think of.

The huge white colored building caught my eyes more than anything else. It spoke so much of the class of the people in the pack, and I was anxious to know what exactly the interior looked like.

Everything about the new environment was thrilling. And from the interlocking on the floor, I walked on all the way to the building left me really speechless. Alpha Ian really wasn't the real deal like I used to think he was.

As we got even closer to the main entrance, which was a huge pair of doors which had really classy markings and designs on them, I couldn't help but notice the woman who was standing there.

She looked like she was just as old as Hilda was. Her silvery hair along with her rather obsolete choice of fashion was making it look like she was a bit more aged.

The long, royal gown gave her the look of some fictional character which wasn't so friendly with commoners like me. I could only hope it was my stereotypical thinking that was kicking in at that point.

The fact that I was coming even closer to her made me feel even more uncomfortable. She had an aura similar to Rowan but she wasn't as friendly. The way she looked at me like she was seriously eyeing a prey she would take down at any time.

I dragged my feet a bit as I didn't know if it was such a good idea to say a greeting or any gesture at all to show respect.

“Good…” I was about greeting when she turned away, like she had been waiting for that very moment to do just that. I couldn't stop wishing the ground would open up and swallow me whole. But it was really good marble beneath me and that would be very unlikely.

“Right this way…” the guard reminded me he was waiting as he ushered me into the building.

I wasn't too moved by the interior of the building like I had been expecting to be. All because of the lady I had encountered. She had really made my blood run cold, and I was strongly suspecting I was in for another episode a lot like the one I suffered back home.

They led me all the way through the building and I was soon in a room which was a lot larger than what I would share with four maids.

Before I could ask the questions on my mind, the guards stepped out and at the same time two maids stepped in, with smiling faces.

“We are here to make you over, on the alpha's orders…” one of them said cheerfully, like she was so joyed about her work. “The alpha says we should,”

The door flung open before she could open and it was Rowan. But he wasn't looking so friendly like he had been a few moments ago. He was looking a lot like one who was about confronting an enemy.

“Uhm… Rowan…” I didn't know what to say, as I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be saying anything. “What's going on with…”

“First, do not call me Rowan…” he snapped. “Second, you have to leave…like right now…”

And then, with a voice colder than the marble beneath my feet and eyes that flickered like a predator closing in, he stepped closer, the tension in the room suffocating me as he whispered words that made my heart stop, words that promised everything I feared was about to begin.
