Chapter 1

The company organized a team-building event at a werewolf resort camp in Silver Grove.

I had stayed up late last night talking with Ethan, and I didn’t wake up in time for the gathering.

By the time I got there, my colleagues were already setting up the grill on the lawn,

laughing as loudly as wolves howling.

“Did you see? Alpha Ethan’s wedding is set! Right here in Silver Grove! It’s so magical!”

“He just posted about it on Instagram! The electronic invitation is so extra! He even posted his wedding photos!”

“Here’s the layout of the venue—everything’s Moonlight-themed! Even the Luna’s seat is marked! It’s quite beautiful, I’m so jealous!”

I stopped in my tracks, a loud buzzing sound in my ears.

The “Ethan” they were talking about… Couldn’t it be the one I knew?

I took a few steps closer and quietly asked a colleague sitting on the grass, “Are you talking about the Alpha Ethan?”

“Yeah, didn’t you know? The invitation’s even trending.”

She handed me her phone.

I felt a tightness in my chest and steps stopped; my fingers were trembling on the phone case.

On the screen, he was wearing a suit, holding the Omega girl, Lily Simmons, smiling affectionately. She was the girl next door.

The Instagram post read: "Looking forward to spending the full moon night with you."

The image was of the wedding venue and the electronic invitation, with a caption that read: "I haven’t forgotten the promises we made as kids."

My breath stopped, and my heartbeat felt like it was being gripped by a beast. His scent came through the screen, but it didn’t belong to me.

Five years of love were reduced to a cold laugh in that instant.

It turned out that he didn’t forget; he just forgot to tell me.

We’d been together for five years, and worked in the same company.

He was the Alpha Director, and I was just a general data analyst.

To comply with company regulations on relationships, we’d kept it a secret.

Even eating together after work, we had to pretend we "ran into each other."

I always thought he cared about me. It was not until today that I realized he was hiding me.

The thought of him being close to another Omega made my body scream. My heartbeat, my breath, and the roaring blood in my ears were all telling me—I had been completely betrayed.

A colleague patted my shoulder, laughing, “Time to eat, don’t just stand there.”

The food lost its color in my eyes. I barely managed to smile and get through the meal.

My phone lay quietly beside me; the screen had long gone black.

I opened his chat, typed a lot, then deleted it all.

He hadn’t contacted me. I stared at the wedding photo for a long time. He did send the invitation, just not to me.

In the end, I pressed the lock screen button, my chest feeling like it was suffocating—Even if it was just for the last bit of respect, I had to face this betrayal.
