Chapter 7 Going back to the beginning
“That's why you came to see me”?
He asked and she nodded like it was obvious.
“That's the major reason why I came back isn't it? Best to get right into it without wasting any time”.
She said and he nodded, trying very hard to hide his feelings.
Standing up, he walked back to his seat and brought out a little box.
“To be honest, I haven't gotten much on them yet”.
He said as he walked back to her.
Hazel nodded as she picked up the box he had brought.
“I'm not surprised”.
She said, causing him to look at her with a brow raised.
She looked at him and felt he must have misunderstood.
“Well, I'm not saying you haven't been trying…”
She said and he cleared his throat as he leaned back.
“Whoever it is, they are very patient and calculative. It's not a surprise we haven't been able to find them yet. They are smart”.
She said and finally opened the box.
“Which is why… I'm sure we'll see them now that we are back in the same place. I think they framed me in the past to separate us, even though I'm not sure why”.
She said and picked up the hard piece of paper that was in the box.
“What is this”?
She asked as she felt this was hardly a clue.
“It was found under my dad's body”.
He said, causing her to look at him before looking back at the paper. She looked at it for a while before she used her hand to trace the seal on it. As soon as her hand touched the seal, her head raised so fast and her eyes turned pure white again.
Kael was a bit surprised to see her like that as this was the first time he'd notice her having a vision.
“Hazel”?
He called out as he stood up and moved towards her but since he wasn't sure of what to do, he didn't touch her.
Shortly after, head fell, causing her hair to cover most part of her face.
Kael kept looking and her, wondering what must have happened.
She remained that way for a few minutes before letting the paper fall to the table and using her hand to push her hair back as she raised her head.
She didn't look at Kael and looked straight ahead instead but Kael couldn't stop looking at her, wondering what might have happened.
“What just happened”?
He asked and she cleared her throat.
“You just had to see that”.
She said sounding a little bit embarrassed.
But it seems something suddenly clicked and she looked at him with her eyes opened wide.
“What is it”?
He immediately asked.
“I need to go”.
She said and immediately stood up, rushing out.
“What's going on? Hazel”!
He called and she suddenly paused just when she got to the door.
She turned to him and spoke.
“From now on, no one should know about whatever it is you find except me”.
She said.
“What does that even mean”?
He was still asking when she dashed out, leaving him there alone. He didn't stay still for long though as he rushed after her too.
Following her, he realized she was going to the abandoned building where his parents had died.
Hazel was running so fast, it didn't take her so long to get to her destination but as soon as she got there, she immediately came to a halt.
She looked at the massively large building in front of her and remained still in shock.
Kael soon got to her and while he was still trying to catch his breath, she asked.
“What is this”?
She asked, looking at the top of the building.
“A branch for my company”.
He said and she turned to him with a face that looked like she was about to strangle him.
“You built on the same place your parents were killed”?
She asked and he cleared his throat.
“Well, it's been five years, and I couldn't stand to see someone else use the land”.
He said.
Hazel closed her eyes and tightened her lips, trying to restrain herself from doing or saying anything she might regret.
“Really manly of you Kael. I can't get anything anymore".
She said after a while and he smiled, causing her to tilt her head with her eyes slightly opened.
“Are you… smiling”?
She asked but he just looked at her and held her hand, taking her inside.
When they got in, the first floor felt higher that the floor level. He took her to the elevator and pressed a button going down.
Hazel looked at him a bit confused but soon, they arrived and she immediately recognized the ground she was standing on as though she was just there yesterday.
“This…”
She said and looked at him. Kael nodded and moved a bit further.
“You're right, it's where my parents were killed”.
He said and turned to her.
“No matter how I tried, I could never let this place go. It's the only clue I have to my parents death”.
He said and he saw her eyes lit up in excitement. She smiled so brightly, surprising him.
“Well done Kael, well done”.
She said as she moved even further in.
“Has it been cleaned”?
She asked but he shook his head.
“Their blood might still be there if you look closely”.
He said and she nodded.
“I need something, something is missing”.
She said and he moved closer.
“What do you need”?
He asked but she shook her head.
“I'm sure I'll know when I see it, but I don't know what it is yet. Whatever it is, it's going to complete my vision”.
She said as she kept looking around the floor which was pretty piled with dirt.
Kael wasn't sure of what she was looking for but he also joined, just looking around for whatever stood out.
“Just so you know, my men thoroughly looked through this place five years…”
He suddenly paused, drawing her attention.
“What is it? Did you find something”?
She asked and he turned to her with something in his ha
nd.
“I'm not sure if it's going to be of any use”.
He said and she moved even closer.
As soon as she saw what was in his hand, she smiled.
“Now I've got you”.
