Chapter 8 More mystery

Kael was holding a wolfs claw, a very long one at that.

It didn't necessarily have to be a clue as almost everyone around was a werewolf including those who completed this building but something about the claw stood out.

When Kael saw it, what drew him in was the weird design on the claw.

Claws are usually white, sometimes dirty, depending on how well a wolf takes care of itself. But this one was weird, it had the same design of the seal they found five years ago.

Hazel collected it and immediately placed her finger on the seal, causing her to get another vision but this time around, her head didn't raise, they just turned white while she kept looking forward.

She soon snapped out of it and looked at the claw with a smile on her face.

She then looked at Kael and spoke.

“We found them”.

She said completely surprising him.

“What did you see”?

He asked and she began walking out.

“Come with me, I need to show you something”.

She said and soon, they were back at his place.

She ran to Lucian's room and noticed they were both still sleeping soundly.

She quietly too her notebook and a little pouch that held the pendant.

She went back to Kael's study and dropped the pendant on the table and handed the notebook over to him.

“When I got to that abandoned building five years ago, your mom was still alive”.

She said and he looked at her with shock in his eyes but he didn't say a word.

“She uttered a few words to me and handed me this pendant before she passed”.

She added and Kael removed the pendant from the pouch and looked at it.

“At first, I thought it was hers but after repeatedly having visions through it, I realized it belongs to their killer".

She said and Kael kept looking at her ever so seriously.

Their faces were blur, and I couldn't hear a single word they were saying but I kept witnessing their death over and over again and I began to take note of whatever I felt was important”.

She said and pointed at the notebook.

“But then, when I touched the seal, their faces were as clear as day and I saw people I have never seen in my vision before”.

She said, causing Kael to crease his brow.

“What are you talking about? What do you mean people”?

He asked and she finally dropped the final clue which was the claw.

“Your parents weren't killed by just one person Kael. I saw a total of five people but I couldn't see the face of the one who wore the pendant”.

She said.

Kael wasn't sure of what he was truly feeling. Was it anger, rage, pain, or foolishness?

He had so many emotions rolling up in his stomach and he wasn't sure of how to control them.

Hazel noticed he was very quiet with his head bent and his eyes closed.

“Kael? Do you want me to stop talking about it”?

She asked but he said nothing.

“Are you…”

“I'm sorry”.

She suddenly heard him blurt out.

“I hurt you so much, I pushed you away while you spent all those years trying to figure out what truly happened”.

He said as he raised his head to look at her.

Hazel remained silent.

He was always easy to read for her. He never tried to hide his emotions when he was with her even though he did that with other people.

“I'm not mad at you Kael".

She said after a while but he shook his head.

“I know you are, and you have every right to be. I won't stop trying to make amends until you forgive me”.

He said but she said nothing more.

Yes, maybe she was a bit mad. Mad at his words that tore her, mad at the fact that he didn't trust her enough to listen to her, mad that their love wasn't strong enough for him to stand by her, mad that it took over five years for him to come find her.

Yes, she was mad but not mad enough to hate him.

“It doesn't matter if I'm angry or not, what is most important is finding these people and making them beg for their lives”.

She said and he sighed before he nodded.

Of course he wasn't expecting her to forgive him so soon but seeing how she dismissed it didn't make him feel good at all.

It felt like she wasn't interested in fixing them at all.

“I'll have to get more visions to see what I'm missing. If it works as I expect, I should be able to hear them properly in no time”.

She said and he nodded.

She then stood up, packing everything and putting them in the box he had earlier put the paper.

“I'll use them for a bit and return them to you”.

She said and began walking out.

Kael just kept looking at her as she walked away.

“Do you still love me”?

He asked but she was already gone.

Exhaling heavily, he turned his head but his gaze landed on the window and he instantly noticed a shadow by the window.

He didn't want to alert whatever it was but he soon noticed the shadow retreating.

He rushed to his window and he saw someone fall to the floor, putting on a black robe, covering their head.

He immediately opened the window and jumped down as he began chasing after the being. But as soon as he chased it to the woods, it vanished.

He kept looking around but there was no trace of it.

“I'd like to see you try to catch me alpha Kael".

He suddenly heard someone speak but he couldn't see anyone there.

“You'd better find me before I kill the woman you love”.

The invisible person said.

“Come out”!

Kael roared but he heard the voice laugh loudly.

“Oh please, the alpha Kael I know is very smart. You don't really think I'll come out just because you ask me to, do you”?

He heard and a chuckle followed.

“Where's the fun in that”?

The voice said again and Kael tried to calm down.

“What do you want”?

He asked after a while.

“Huh? Me? Oh you're mistaken Kael. You're not fighting a single being, you're fighting an entire legion”.
