Chapter 4

“Stolen?”

Aaron Lind was momentarily stunned, and couldn’t help but think of a joke.

Rich guys who take their girlfriends to street food stalls and cheap restaurants will make them think you’re down-to-earth and frugal.

A poor guy saved up several months’ worth of salary to buy a bag for his girlfriend at the official store. His girlfriend would secretly take the bag to the store to verify its authenticity.

This joke seems to have a similar effect to his current situation.

As for why such things happen, it’s quite simple: it’s because you have no money, isn’t that it?

“This is just reality.”

Aaron Lind shook his head, feeling somewhat emotional.

“What? Steal?”

Ina Ross was completely stunned. In the next moment, her eyes turned red, and tears streamed down her face.

Obviously, the jewelry is genuine. Given Allen Lind’s financial status, it’s impossible for him to afford it.

Thinking of this, Ina Ross was heartbroken and sobbed, “Even if you go to jail, I won’t divorce you. I’ll wait for you to come out.”

“Mengxi, things have come to this point. Why won’t you wake up and realize the truth?” Hearing these words, Edwina Brown was furious. She shouted loudly:

“Aaron Lind is a thief. If he were poor, it might be understandable. But his behavior shows that he has problems with both character and morality. He’s committed a crime and deserves to go to jail.”

“Such a man is doomed for life. Why do you still stay with him? The right thing to do is to get a divorce from him immediately. He’s not good enough for you.”

Edwina Brown grew more and more agitated, angry, and confused. When she looked at Aaron Lind, her gaze was filled with disdain and mockery.

“Yes, Accountant Chu, it’s not too late to get a divorce now.”

The others in the office also tried to persuade him.

“This Aaron Lind has done illegal things. Why do you still remain so devoted to him?”

“Aaron Lind!”

It’s pointless to talk to Ina Ross. Edwina Brown immediately glared at Aaron Lind with a cold expression, her voice icy. From the Nine Abodes:

“You are not allowed to play with Inna Ross’ feelings, because you are completely unfit for her.”

“Please, before you say anything, could you at least think for a moment? Could you look at the name on that receipt first, before speaking?”

Aaron Lind glanced at Edwina Brown out of the corner of his eye.

“Am I a thief? Be careful, I’ll sue you for slander.”

“Hm?”

As she spoke, Edwina Brown opened the jewelry box again and took out the receipt.

The necklace, bracelets, and various other jewelry together cost five hundred thousand. And the name of the person who purchased them is Allen Lind.

“So what?”

Edwina Brown didn’t care at all and simply tossed the receipt aside:

“In modern society, with technology being so advanced, it’s a piece of cake to forge receipts or something like that. I just didn’t expect that after stealing those items, you’d still think of forging documents as well. You really are scheming and calculating.”

“Aaron Lind, I’m giving you one last chance. Go and complete the divorce procedures with Meng Xi right now, then go ahead and spend time in jail.”

Edwina Brown continued, “Don’t wait for me to call and tear away your last shred of modesty before you feel satisfied.”

“Whatever you want. If you want to fight, go ahead. I’m asking you: do you really like my wife? Ever since I came in, all you’ve been doing is trying to get us to divorce.”

Aaron Lind shrugged his shoulders, with a slight smile on his lips.

“You!”

Edwina Brown was so angry that she gritted her teeth, with waves of fury surging before her.

“Very well. Since you refuse to drink when I offer a toast, don’t blame me for not giving you face.”

When Edwina Brown took a liking to this blue diamond ring, she deliberately asked for the counter clerk’s phone number, so that she could easily get in touch if she decided to buy it later.

If Edwina Brown isn’t mistaken, the waitress at that counter should be named Han Yueyue.

“Hello, this is Tiffany. Hello, Ms. Brown. How may I help you?”

Han Yueyue’s polite and gentle voice filled the entire office, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort to everyone there.

Ina Ross’s palms were already sweating with cold sweat, while everyone watched Aaron Lind with amusement, waiting to see how he would make a fool of himself next.

Han Yueyue kept the phone numbers and names of every Tiffany member, which allowed her to respond immediately when the calls came through.

Getting straight to the point, Edwina Brown spoke without preamble.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Brown. That diamond ring was just purchased by a gentleman.”

“Bought it?” Edwina Brown’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you sure it was bought, and not stolen?”

“Ms. Brown, you’re joking. Tiffany has some of the most stringent security measures in place. There are multiple cameras throughout the store. Not only would any theft be recorded, but even if someone were to touch the jewelry, it would be captured on video. There are also other diamond rings in the store that are of excellent quality. You might want to consider choosing one of those instead.”

Han Yueyue was quite speechless, but still politely recommended the items in the jewelry shop.

This is a Diamond Member – they can’t be treated negligently.

“Then can I know who bought that diamond ring?”

Someone bought that diamond ring, but then Allen Lind stole it from them. After all, how could that worthless loser, Allen Lind, possibly carry out a theft plan in the first place?

“Well, I’m not able to disclose that information,” said Han Yueyue. “The client is our premium member, and their privacy is protected. I’m really sorry, Sister Brown.”

“Alright.”

“Sister Brown, how do you know it’s Mr. Aaron Lind? Do you know Mr. Aaron Lind?” Han Yueyue immediately spoke up.

As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized what was happening: Han Yueyue was trying to trick her into making a mistake.

It’s also because Allen Lind’s Ultimate Black Card was simply too shocking that she still hasn’t come to her senses yet. That’s why she blurted out all kinds of information without thinking.

Just as she was filled with regret, Edwina Brown on the other end of the line froze in expression, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Throughout the entire office, only Han Yueyue’s soft murmurs remained.

It’s eerily quiet…
