The heavy metal door shut behind me with a loud clang. The sound echoed down the long, gray hallway. It was a cold sound, like a giant key locking a box. I did not flinch. A guard in a blue uniform pointed to a plastic chair behind a thick glass wall.

"Sit there," the guard said....
