Introduction
Zoe Lark has one rule. Stay invisible. Do not attract attention. Do not give Sienna Holt a reason to make her life worse than it already is.
She breaks that rule in one sentence.
Cornered at a party she never wanted to attend, Zoe blurts out that she has a boyfriend. Not just any boyfriend. A vampire boyfriend. Tall. Dark-haired. The kind of face that stops traffic. Eyes like winter. Always dressed like he owns every room he has not walked into yet.
She makes him up on the spot.
By midnight, he is standing at her door.
Caden Voss is not a story. He is not a rumor. He is exactly what she described and a hundred times more dangerous. And for reasons he will not fully explain, he agrees to play the role she invented.
What starts as a deal becomes something neither of them planned for. Caden does not do anything halfway. When boys get too close, he steps in. When the whole campus thinks Zoe Lark finally has someone in her corner, he makes them believe every single word.
The problem is, so does he.
Because Caden is not just acting like a boyfriend. He is marking her as his in a way that goes much deeper than pretending. And when the real dangers of his world come looking for Zoe, the line between performance and truth disappears completely.
She lied to survive one night. He showed up to end three centuries of waiting. Now they are both in serious trouble.
Chapter 1
Elena's POV
The warehouse smells like rust and death.
Elena keeps to the shadows, moving past piles of old metal and broken glass. Her shoulder throbs. Not the normal kind of pain. The kind that burns from the inside out like something is eating her alive.
The bite is infected.
Three weeks ago, a vampire caught her off guard in an alley. She killed it but not before its fangs sank deep. The wound should have killed her by now. The Shadow Guard taught her that vampire bites are always fatal. But Elena's still breathing, which means something is very wrong with her body or very wrong with what she was taught.
Neither option is good.
She spots the medical supply shelf in the back corner. Her hands shake as she reaches for the antibiotics. Just grab them and go. In and out. She's gotten good at this over the past three months. Breaking into places. Stealing what she needs. Disappearing before anyone realizes she was ever there.
That's how you survive when everyone wants you dead.
A sound stops her cold.
Footsteps. Not human footsteps. These are too quiet, too careful. The kind of movement that comes from something that's practiced hunting for a very long time.
Elena's hand goes to the knife at her hip. The knife her father gave her the day before they executed him. She's thought about throwing it away a hundred times. Keeping it feels like carrying around her own pain. But it's the only thing she has left from her real life, so she keeps it close.
She turns slowly.
The vampire steps out of the darkness like he's been waiting for her.
He's tall. Pale in a way that looks wrong, like his skin has never seen sunlight. His eyes are completely black, no white showing at all, and when he moves, it's too smooth, too fluid, like the laws of physics don't quite apply to him the same way they do to humans.
He's also smiling.
Elena doesn't think. She just reacts.
She launches herself at him with the knife raised, aiming for his chest. This is what she was trained to do since she was five years old. Fight vampires. Kill vampires. Never hesitate because hesitation means death.
The vampire could stop her easily. She can tell that immediately. But he doesn't. Instead, he lets her knife cut across his arm, lets it sink into his shoulder. Dark blood, almost black, spills down his pale skin.
He's letting her hurt him.
That enrages her more than if he'd fought back.
Elena presses her advantage, moving fast and brutal. She's good at this. Years of training have made her fast and mean. She aims for vital points, places she knows will kill a vampire. The heart. The throat. Behind the eyes.
Each time, she scores a hit. Each time, blood spills.
And each time, the vampire moves just enough to make sure she doesn't deliver a killing blow.
It's like fighting a ghost that's pretending to be mortal.
Finally, she goes too far forward with a thrust aimed at his heart. The vampire grabs her wrist with one hand and uses the momentum to spin her around. He pins her against the cold warehouse wall hard enough to knock the breath from her lungs.
His fangs are inches from her neck.
Elena can feel them now, sharp and deadly and so close she could lean forward and die right here. This is it. This is how it ends. Three months of running and stealing and surviving and it ends in a dark warehouse with a vampire's fangs at her throat.
She closes her eyes.
Elena thinks about her parents. About her older brother Thomas. About the night the Shadow Guard came for them. She thinks about how she found their bodies and how no amount of training prepared her for that kind of loss.
She thinks about how none of it mattered anyway because the organization that raised her decided to murder the people she loved and frame her for it.
Elena waits for the fangs to pierce her skin.
Instead, the vampire steps back.
He actually steps back and releases her. Elena stumbles forward, shocked, and spins around to face him. Her knife is still in her hand. Her breath is coming in hard gasps.
The vampire is standing there with blood running down his arm, not even trying to attack. Just watching her with those endless black eyes.
When he speaks, his voice is nothing like what Elena expected. It's not a growl or a hiss or something inhuman. It's calm and measured and almost kind. Almost.
"Elena Hart," he says, and hearing her name in his mouth is like ice water down her spine. "I know who you are."
Elena tightens her grip on the knife. "How do you know my name?"
"The Shadow Guard is coming for you. They're getting closer. If you want to live past next week, you need to listen to me."
Elena's stomach drops. The Shadow Guard. The organization she's been running from. The organization she thought she'd escaped at least temporarily.
"You're lying," she says, but her voice wavers.
"I'm not. They've picked up your trail. You've left too many marks. Broken into too many places. They're triangulating your position and they're moving fast. You have maybe two days before they find you."
Elena should kill him. She should drive her knife into his heart right now while he's standing there talking. But something in the way he's looking at her makes her hesitate.
"Why would you tell me this?" she asks. "Why would a vampire help a hunter?"
The vampire's expression doesn't change but something flickers in his eyes. Something that looks almost like pain.
"Because the man who killed your family is the same man who took something from me. And the only way to stop him is to keep you alive long enough to help me prove what he's done."
Elena's world tilts slightly. "My family isn't dead. I saw them die but the Shadow Guard said I killed them. They said I was turned by a vampire and murdered everyone I love and that's why I'm hunted."
"That's a lie," the vampire says. "A very useful lie that lets them hunt you guilt free. But it's still a lie."
Elena feels something crack open inside her chest. For three months, she's believed that she somehow killed her family. She's believed that there was something wrong with her, something weak that let a vampire turn her into a murderer. She's carried that guilt like a chain around her heart.
And now this creature is telling her it was never true.
"Come to the old lighthouse on Crow's Point at midnight," the vampire continues. "Come alone. If you want to know the truth, if you want to know who really killed your family and why, come to the lighthouse."
Elena's mouth is dry. Every part of her training screams that this is a trap. That this is exactly how vampires hunt. They talk to you. They make you feel like they understand. They get inside your head and then they drain you dry.
"If I come," Elena says slowly, "and this is a trap, I'll kill you."
The vampire actually smiles at that. It's the most unsettling thing that's happened tonight and there's been a lot of unsettling.
"Fair enough," he says.
Then he moves backward into the shadows the same way he came, disappearing like he was never there at all. Elena stands alone in the warehouse, still holding her knife, still bleeding from the infected wound on her shoulder.
She looks at the medical supplies still scattered on the shelf. She grabs the antibiotics and some bandages. As she shoves them into her bag, her hands are shaking.
The vampire knows her name.
The vampire knows about her family.
The vampire is right about the Shadow Guard finding her. She's felt them getting closer. The net tightening. She's been borrowing time on borrowed luck and soon that luck is going to run out.
Elena looks at the spot where the vampire disappeared. Then she looks at her knife. Then she thinks about the lighthouse.
Midnight.
All alone.
With a creature that could kill her in a hundred different ways.
Elena shoulders her bag and starts moving toward the exit. She has five hours to decide if she's going to walk willingly into what is probably a trap. Five hours to decide if her chances are better with the Shadow Guard or with a vampire who knows her name and speaks with a voice that doesn't sound like a monster's.
As she walks through the dark warehouse toward the door, Elena realizes something that makes her chest tight.
She's already decided going to the lighthouse.
Because anything, even a trap, is better than being alone. And at least this vampire looked at her like she was a person instead of a weapon or a problem that needed solving.
That's all it takes sometimes. Just someone looking at you like you matter.
Elena steps out into the Lagos night, and for the first time in three months, she feels something other than fear.
She feels hope.
And that might be the most dangerous thing of all.

Vengeance of the Forsaken Luna
"Bella." Ethan's tone shifted, taking on that warning edge I knew too well. "Faye is vulnerable right now. She's terrified you'll resent her, that this will divide the pack. The last thing she wants is for this baby to come between us."
"Then you shouldn't have done it." I met his eyes squarely, letting him see the ice in mine. "Go back to your son."
"For fuck's sake." He dragged a hand through his hair. "How many times—it was artificial insemination. They used my sperm, yes, but Faye and I never—"
Bella let out a cold snort. Such brazen lies. Her mate had an affair with his brother's partner, and his entire family helped force her out with nothing, all to make way for the mistress to take her rightful position. Poor fool—he thought she was just an unwanted adopted daughter, easy to dismiss and control. He never knew the computer genius he'd been searching for was his own Luna.
Since he'd tainted himself, Bella was done. She rejected him and reclaimed what was hers, rising to the top with help from Victor, who'd been secretly in love with her for years.
When Ethan tried winning her back: "You don't want our child growing up fatherless."
Bella smiled mockingly. "The child's father isn't you."

The CEO's Unspoken Love
Before I could answer, he moved closer, suddenly looming over me, his face inches from mine. I felt my breath caught, my lips parting in surprise.
"Then this is the price for speaking ill of me to others," he murmured, nipping my lower lip before claiming my mouth in a real kiss. It began as punishment but quickly transformed into something else entirely as I responded, my initial rigidity melting into compliance, then active participation.
My breathing accelerated, small sounds escaping my throat as he explored my body. His touches were both punishment and pleasure, drawing shudders from me that I thought he felt reverberating through his own body.
My nightgown had ridden up, his hands discovering more of mine with each caress. We were both lost in sensation, rational thought receding with each passing second...
