Chapter 7 Rebellion

Lara

I sighed as I pulled the first aid box closer. Curse Elijah for almost crushing my foot with it. I examined the sprain and thankfully it wasn’t that bad. I knew attempting to run was a bad idea but the opportunity was just there. I don’t see how that douchebag figured I wasn’t there anymore. I opened the box and saw the barest minimum inside. Probably because werewolves healed quickly. Since I’m not one, I muttered a simple spell I was taught at the elf village and I watched my ankle shift back in place. It only hurt a little so I wrapped it with a bandage.

I contemplated going back downstairs but remembered the eyes on us when Elijah carried me up. My face burned in embarrassment again. I needed to get out of here as soon as possible.

“Lara?”

“Papa?” I exclaimed instantly and looked around to see where he was. “Where are you?”

“Go to the nearest mirror.”

I jumped off the bed and limped to the dresser mirror. My eyes welled up in tears as I saw Papa’s face. He looked like he had aged more in the night. He let out a sigh of relief as soon as he saw me.

“Papa..”

“Are you alright?” He asked and I nodded quickly. “The whole kingdom is upside down now. The Prince’s sudden appearance shook everyone.”

“I can imagine.”

“And the wedding was ruined too,” Papa muttered this part and my heart clenched. The wedding. The one event everyone prepared for. One of Papa’s primary duties was to give out my hand in marriage to the next Alpha and Elijah ruined it.

My blood boiled as I thought of his smug face. A spoiled brat. He obviously didn’t know the gravity of what he did. All he probably wanted was revenge or attention.

“Can anything be done?” I asked hopefully and Papa sighed.

“It would’ve been a different story if you hadn’t gotten married at all. But the bond happened with someone else on a special night.”

I just want to wrap my hand around that bastard’s neck and squeeze the life out of him.

“It’s almost as if you’re obsessed at this point.”

I heard his voice in my head and I balled my fist in anger. Thank the moon goddess he can hear how much I wanted to murder him.

“When are they coming to get me?” I finally asked. I couldn’t wait to get out of here. But my happiness became short-lived when I saw the look on Papa’s face. You have to be kidding me.

“Papa, they’re coming for me right?”

“Lara, for now they’re trying to tighten the security around the borders. I would’ve come to get you but I don’t know where. That’s why I opted for this means.” He explained and my heart sank. “Is Elijah harming you?” He asked. I shook off the disappointment I felt and smiled at him.

“It’s actually the opposite. I have a huge room to myself, a closet and I’m eating better here.” I explained which was true. But I would rather be home not here.

“Are you sure you’re fine?” He asked sternly and I nodded even though I had tears in my eyes.

“I just miss home Papa,” I mumbled. “But I’m actually fine here.”

“I’ll come get you soon.” He assured me and I nodded. I heard voices from his end and he quickly ended the call.

I was so engrossed in myself that I didn’t realize that my father would also be facing the backlash for the marriage that failed. After all, he was the Seer and his daughter couldn't marry the next Alpha.

Maybe she’s cursed.

Words from last night came back to me and I wondered if they were also questioning his authority. Now, I needed to go home and protect my father.

Someone knocked on the door and opened it slightly. It was Ron. He gave me a big grin holding up a plate.

“Matilda said I should give you some fruits.”

“Ron, I need to get out of here,” I said desperately and his smile fell.

“Elijah will kill me.”

I rolled my eyes and limped my way towards the door. I shoved him out of the way and limped down the stairs. Ron tried holding me back but I pushed him.

“Leave me alone!”

The living room and kitchen were empty, which was better for me. Ron looked so reluctant to go after me. He probably didn’t consider me worthy of being chased. I opened the front door only to see Elijah standing there.

“Get the fuck out of my way!” I spat and he rolled his eyes. His eyes darted to my ankle and back to my face.

“You’re not going anywhere.” He stated.

“And who is going to stop me?” I squeezed past him and limped out. He let me leave. I passed a crowded training ground and everyone stopped to watch me. I knew Elijah was following me when the soldiers began to part for me to pass.

“Stop following me.” I snapped without turning. I limped more before tripping on my feet making pain flood my ankle. I heard a growl behind me and I froze. The soldiers equally froze out of fear and respect.

Before I knew it, Elijah was crouched in front of me. He grabbed my ankle. He undid the bandage and true enough, a nasty purple bruise was forming and it was swollen. He quickly threw me over his shoulder.

“Elijah! Let me down!” I yelled. I didn’t care who was watching. I need to go home to Papa. I need to go back to my life.

I kicked him multiple times but he gripped my legs and headed inside the house and straight to my acclaimed room. He dropped me on the floor unceremoniously and I picked myself back up and limped to the door but he pushed me back and I fought against him.

“Stop!” My body froze against my wish but I shook myself back.

“Why are you keeping me here? I’m not useful to you! You ruined my life already.” I screamed in his face. His face was neutral.

“In case you forgot, you’re my wife.” He blankly said.

I let out a deep breath.

“You want to go home that bad?” He finally said and I nodded. “Let’s go.”
