Chapter 4 Drakonspire Villa

Drakonspire Villa

Kane stepped out of the car and adjusted his suit. He stared at the massive structure ahead. Drakonspire Villa stood on the northern edge of town, protected by high walls and iron gates that screamed power.

This place wasn’t just feared — it was legendary. Politicians, kingmakers, and underworld bosses gathered here to decide the fate of the country. Even the police walked lightly around its walls. Laws were only suggestions inside Drakonspire.

Rumors painted it darker. Some said the owner was a mafia lord so terrifying that his name alone made grown men sweat. People who got too close disappeared. Their bodies later turned up in the woods or floating in the river.

Kane scanned the perimeter. Armed security guards stood beyond the gates. Their tailored suits hid guns, knives, and everything else killers needed. They looked civilized, but their eyes said death.

As Kane approached the gates, a sleek black Lamborghini Aventador roared up and stopped beside him. The door opened, and a man in a cream-colored suit stepped out.

“Who do we have here?” the man asked, voice dripping with condescension.

Kane raised an eyebrow. “Do I know you?”

The man chuckled arrogantly. “Of course I know you, Kane Draven. Everyone in this town knows about your family’s mess.”

He extended his hand with exaggerated flair. “Reginald Thornton-Furst, President and CEO of Everwood Security Services. I’m quite surprised to see one of my lowly sanitation engineers standing outside Drakonspire Villa.”

Kane’s eyes narrowed. Reginald Thornton-Furst — Elizabeth’s brother. The same bastard who made him a janitor.

“I’d appreciate it if you minded your own business,” Kane replied evenly, ignoring the handshake.

Reginald’s face twisted. “Mind my business? Men like you don’t stroll into Drakonspire. They end up buried six feet under. Don’t you know that?”

Kane stayed calm. “I’m here for a reason.”

Reginald stepped closer, sneer deepening. “Disrespect runs in your blood, doesn’t it? Your brother Vinnie is the same — arrogant, entitled, always leeching off my sister. Your whole family is nothing but parasites. If not for Elizabeth, I would’ve crushed you all already.”

The words landed hard, but Kane didn’t flinch. “You talk big for someone hiding behind his sister’s money.”

Before Reginald could respond, the villa’s massive doors swung open. A tall man with a chiseled jaw and piercing eyes stepped out, radiating pure authority.

He glanced at Reginald. “What’s going on here?”

Reginald immediately straightened. “I’m here to see Mr. Watson, sir.”

Kane raised an eyebrow. “You know Mr. Watson?”

Reginald smiled arrogantly. “Of course I do. I only associate with the respectable and powerful. Mr. Watson is one of them.”

The tall man from the villa turned to Reginald. “What business do you have with Mr. Watson?”

“I’m here to discuss the redevelopment of the Ravenswood District,” Reginald said smoothly. “We’ve talked about it before. I believe we can reach a mutually beneficial agreement.”

The man then fixed his sharp eyes on Kane. “And you? Who the hell are you?”

“I’m looking for the Raven,” Kane replied.

The second the words left his mouth, the man’s expression turned deadly. All the guards drew their guns in one smooth motion and aimed them straight at Kane’s head.

“Ah, no, no, no!” Reginald shrieked, voice trembling. He scrambled behind Kane, using him as a human shield. “This is a mistake! Kane, what the hell have you done?!”

The tall man kept his gun trained on Kane’s forehead. “Who did you say you were looking for? Speak carefully.”

Kane stood completely still, eyes locked on the man. “I’m looking for Ethan Blackwood. Code 9412-Raven-7.”

The tall man’s expression shifted. He glared at Reginald, who was still shaking behind Kane, then locked eyes on Kane again. “And who the hell are you?”

Kane straightened. “Captain Kane Draven, Valkyrie Unit.”

“Tag?” the man asked, voice full of doubt.

“Nightshade-12,” Kane answered instantly, never breaking eye contact.

He reached slowly into his jacket and pulled out a sealed envelope. “Give this to Ethan Blackwood. He’ll understand.”

The man hesitated, then stepped forward and snatched the envelope. Kane’s voice turned cold. “I hate it when people point guns at me. It’s unwise.”

He took one deliberate step closer, staring the man down. “Lower your gun. It’s disrespectful.”

Dead silence fell. The guards kept their weapons trained on Kane, fingers hovering over the triggers. The tall man’s eyes bored into his. For a tense moment, nobody moved.

Then the man slowly lowered his pistol. He gave a sharp nod to the guards. They lowered their guns too, but their grips stayed tight, ready to raise them again.

“Stay here,” the man ordered. “I’ll be right back.”

The tall man turned on his heel and headed back into the villa with the envelope gripped tightly in his hand.

Reginald stepped closer to Kane, voice shaky. “I don’t know what the hell you’re trying to pull, Draven, but I suggest you leave right now before he comes back. I don’t want to watch you die.”

Kane turned to him slowly. “I hate chatterboxes who don’t know when to shut up. Stay out of my way.”

Reginald’s face twisted in rage. “What am I supposed to do? Your family is nothing but poor rats feeding off real people’s scraps. You’re all leeches!”

He stepped even closer. “And your brother Vinnie? The worst of the bunch. Worthless. Couldn’t even afford a decent house in this town. A total disgrace.”

Kane’s jaw tightened. “Careful.”

Reginald sneered. “You think you’re any different? You’re just as—”

Slap!

Kane’s hand cracked across Reginald’s face. Blood trickled from his nose as he stumbled back, eyes wide with shock.

“I warned you,” Kane growled.

Before Reginald could open his mouth again, Kane slapped him harder. The impact sent Reginald sprawling to the ground with a heavy thud. He lay there limp, head lolling to the side.

His driver rushed over in panic and knelt beside him. “Boss!”

“He’s fine,” Kane said coldly. “Get him out of here.”

The driver helped the dazed Reginald to his feet and half-dragged him toward the car.

Right then, the villa door opened again. A massive man stepped out — muscles bulging under his tailored suit, face like carved stone, eyes ice cold. He loomed over Kane like a mountain.

“Are you the one asking for my boss?” he growled.

“Yes,” Kane replied, unfazed.

The giant stared at him for a second, then nodded. “Search him. Everything.”

The guards moved fast. Rough hands patted him down, stripping away his jacket, phone, and watch. They took anything that could be a threat.

Before Kane could say a word, a blindfold slammed over his eyes. Strong arms gripped him and pushed him forward.

“Take him inside,” the giant ordered. Then he added, “And tell Reginald not to come back without a damn good reason.”
