Chapter 4 4
Phoebe~~
I was dragged away by the man who had been standing beside him. Outside the building, he let go of me and walked just before me.
His dazzling eyes and curly hair made him look a bit responsible, but I knew he wasn't so different from his alpha.
“Can you just stop acting rash? You should be glad that he spared your life.” the man said to me and frowned.
Why the hell was he acting like their alpha king was doing me a favor?
“I have every right to be mad at the man who took the life of my family.” I retorted, my eyes burning with tears, regardless.
He scoffed and averted his gaze, “Maybe, with time, you will get to thank him for not taking your life.” he hissed and began moving forward.
I bit my lower lip, my palms clenched into fist.
Who do they even think they are? I just lost my three pack members and he's here playing a sermon before me? I scoffed and wiped my lips before continuing towards him.
I almost asked him where he was taking me to, but I had to shut my mouth when I saw the pistol hung at the back of his trousers. Are they all killers or what? Who trains his people to go around with weapons?
Lost in thought, I didnt realise when he stopped and bumped into him. “I'm sorry...” I said quickly, but he still turned around to see the girl who dared to do that. “I already apologised.” I added and breathed out, avoiding his gaze too.
“You in there, come out and take her.” he ordered while glaring at me.
The door creaked open and the same lady who had taken me to their throne room showed up. She signaled me to come in, and I did so immediately before the man tried killing me with his eyes.
As I stepped into the room, it hit me that it was the same room I woke up in.
‘Then does it mean I was dressed up here last night, but didn't recognise it?’ I asked in thought, lips pouted.
Someone brushed shoulders past me and I blinked, only to see two more ladies in addition to the first lady.
“Freshen her up. It's that time of the night again.” the first lady said to the others, but her eyes were on me.
I swallowed. That time of the night…
For goddess sake, why can't they just see that I wouldn't dare to spread my legs for a man out there? Must I kill before they understand the language?
Knox would better know that I could obey him, but won't do that with my body. If he needed a whore, he could get a lot from his people too.
‘That dickhead! He must think I'm one of those sluggish females in his pack.’ I cursed under my breath, twisting the fabric I wore.
Soon, the ladies took me into the bathroom where they bathed me completely and then handed me over to the first lady who began dressing me up. Right from the lotions, makeups, and dress, they smelled of money, and I wondered the pleasure of spending money to lavish on me just so I would get fucked my strangers.
‘He's a joke! I'll make him pay for everything he's been doing.’ I said in my mind, very calm unlike last night.
When she was done, she sent me out of the room only to meet the man, leaning on the wall and waiting for me.
I shook my head in agony. Why didn't I see this coming? He was patiently waiting for me here?
“Let's head to the club…” he bore a scorn and then began moving.
The dress they wore me this time was even worse than the one of last night, but who cared at that point?
While I walked behind him, I glanced around, searching for another route to leave him since he was a bit ahead. And luckily, I found one.
I stood, watching his back for a few seconds, then I turned instantly and took my left. I pulled out my footwear so I wouldn't make a sound, and while running, I glanced backwards several times to see if he was after me, but I didnt even see his shadow.
Happiness filled my heart and I prayed that this would work for me. If I succeed to escape this time, I would invade a neighboring pack and plead with the other alpha kings to come to my aid. That way, I will be able to save my people.
It was a very long route that didn't stop until I saw a staircase, and then an emergency exit placed at the top.
‘Please don't send a signal.’ I prayed in my mind while reaching out to it.
I unlocked the door as it didn't need a code and began running down another staircase. I feared that I didn't know if I was going to end well with where I was going, but something in me kept pushing me to continue.
Until I began hearing the sound of someone groaning in pain. I listened well and it happened to be a man, but when I looked around, I didn't find any other way except the one I was into.
‘What is happening? Did I end up in a dungeon?’ my breath caught in my throat at the thought of that. It would be so bad if it was true.
Still, I continued walking, hoping to stop hearing the painful groans soon. Instead, I heard the voices of male chatting, and it seemed they were coming towards my direction.
‘This place had been quiet until I reached here. Is this some prison or what?’ my face twisted while I tried to figure out what I would do. ‘With those stairs that I used, does it mean that this is underground?’
It would better not be. How will I get out then?
No! There was an emergency exit. An underground can't have that, or was it…
I didn't know when my footwear slipped through my fingers and dropped on the floor. It better not be a disguise.
“Who's there?” I heard one of those men ask from wherever they were, and hearing the sound of booths slamming on the floor, I knew they were getting closer.
I glanced at the sides, my heart thumping so hard in my chest.
The only thing I could see there were several doors, so I began rushing to open one of them, but they seemed to be locked. It was the fourth one that seemed unlocked, so I bumped in without even checking what was in the room, then I slowly shut the door behind and locked it with the key I saw there.
I breathed out in relief and slowly turned around to lean on the door. As my eyes opened, I saw someone sitting on a table, with a cigarette stick burning between his fingers.
At first, I thought I was seeing things, but not until I rubbed my eyes very well and stared intently in that direction…
My knees buckled together and I dropped to the floor. I lost my voice. In fact, my soul left my body.
What was I doing here? How did I end up here?
I kept staring back at him while he didn't stop smoking like his life depended on it. He dropped the remaining short stick on the floor and matched it with his shoes, then grabbed the bottle standing on the table and began downing it.
‘Knox?! Are you not seeing me? Is he insane? Who would drink alcohol that way?’ I was quivering, yet pondering so hard.
The room smelled of books and papers, and when I slowly looked around, I noticed it was a library.
‘His library? I should have just gone to the club instead of ending here.’ I felt the ground I knelt on was already crumbling. ‘What am I supposed to do now?’
I looked at him one more time, hoping to begin apologising already, but I didn't expect to meet a man covered in furs, his burning gaze fixed on me like he had seen a prey.
My heartbeat fastened that moment, and I counted myself as dead.
