Chapter 1
Mattia de Luca
"Fabrizia already said that I remember Giulia's party," I say, irritated.
My secretary might as well be a wife, with her insistence on hovering over me about my daughter. If she weren't so competent, I would have fired her already.
I continue to review all the documents that need my attention. My company specializes in the production and distribution of fuels.
I own the corporation across the entire Pacific West Coast, making me one of the biggest CEOs in the fuel industry.
My life isn't just about Oil Corporation. Six years ago, my wife Antonella passed away after a battle with cancer, leaving me and Giulia on our own. I try to do my best, but looking at my daughter reminds me of how alone I am.
I ended up distancing myself when I sent her to a boarding school in Washington. She comes home for the holidays, and we try to connect.
Having a daughter who is almost twenty sometimes feels more challenging than it should. But my love for her is unconditional. I give her the best I can and am aware that I'm a terrible father for being so far away from her.
With her end-of-year party coming up, I'm sure our distance will only grow. Looking at the picture frame holding our last photo together on my last birthday makes me want to go see her soon.
I think I'll stop by a jewelry store to get her a graduation gift. The papers on my desk will have to wait.
I stand up, gather my belongings, and leave my office.
"Fabrizia, I'm going home. Cancel everything, and I'll be back on Monday," I say as I walk away.
I stopped at a jewelry store and bought a double necklace with a heart pendant for her. I found the piece as delicate as my daughter's.
I sent a message to the housekeeper to prepare a suitcase; I want to spend the weekend with my daughter.
I'm proud to know that in a few years, Giulia will be graduating in what she loves. She got into the best medical school I could offer my only daughter.
Driving to the college where she studies takes a few hours out of my day, but I know she'll be happy to see me here, especially as a surprise. I know she was losing hope that I would show up.
As soon as I arrived at the apartment, I had bought at the beginning of the month to celebrate another successful year and mainly wished for my only daughter to have a place of her own.
I look in the mirror and am pleased to see my black dress shirt with the top buttons undone, showing off my chest and some hair. I put on my necklace, and watch, and decide that I'm ready to go.
With the car at my disposal waiting for me, I head towards the campus where Giulia studies. Since I will only give her the apartment tomorrow, maybe I can bring someone to spend the night with me tonight.
From afar, I could already see the commotion at the entrance of the large hall where the students' end-of-year party was to be held. Giulia's dormitory was on the opposite side. I need to call her to say I'm here so we can easily meet.
Unfortunately, I discovered I didn't have my phone with me. Damn.
I parked the car in the area reserved for families, hoping to find my daughter easily. I get out of the car and see several students passing by.
"Hey, do you know where I can find the medical students?" I asked a boy who was already drunk.
"They should be near the library, in that building over there," he points in the direction.
I thanked him for the information and slowly walked, following the flow of students who seemed to be heading in the same direction. I watched as a group of girls walked in front of me, and one of them caught my attention.
She might be a relative of a student; she seemed older.
I continue to follow the girls slowly, and as they are approached by another man who takes one of them into the building we were passing in front of, the blonde laughs with her friend and gives me a cheeky smile.
I smile back, thinking it might be time to have a little fun before I meet Giulia if I manage to find her tonight. Maybe I should go back to the apartment to get my phone.
I approach the blonde girl and walk beside her.
"Good afternoon, miss!" I say as I come up to her.
"Good afternoon!" she replies without paying much attention.
"Are you related to a student?" I asked to start a conversation.
I watch her laugh at my question as she turns to face me, hands on hips, trying to assert herself.
"If you want to fuck, just say it…"
I narrow my eyes at the blonde in front of me who, even in high heels, isn't very tall.
When she moistens her lips in a silent invitation, I take the final step to taste those lips. I ran my hand through her nape and tightened my grip, eliciting a moan from her, muffled by the kiss I planted on her. I'm not interested in knowing who the woman now in my arms is; I just want to show her what it's like to sleep with an Italian.
We break our kiss to catch our breath, and her look of decision excites me; this might be her first one-night stand.
"Come…" She grabs the collar of my shirt and motions were to go.
We walk through a narrow path lined with low plants, moving in silence. I notice that the dress she is wearing accentuates her figure nicely, and a butterfly tattoo is visible on the plunging back of her dress.
We enter one of the buildings, and she puts her finger to her lips in a silencing gesture. I'm surprised to find that we are in the library, which is empty.
"Back there," she points to where she wants to take me.
I could take this beautiful woman to the apartment or even to the best hotel in the city and spend the night with her, then go back to looking for Giulia.
"Let's go to a hotel," I suggest, holding her hand.
"What's the matter, never had a fantasy?" I smile and look around.
I walk to the last rows of books, since she wants it here, I'll satisfy her wish. As we reach the back of the hall, I pin her against the rows of books and claim her soft lips painted in a deep crimson, making her even more beautiful.
I suck on her lips, tasting the alcohol she must have had before coming here. I keep her trapped between my body and the bookshelves, sliding my hand along her body to find the zipper of her dress and slowly unzipping it.
She tilts her head, allowing me to kiss her, and the perfume she is wearing drives me even wilder.
"Let me take you somewhere else…" I ask again.
"No!" She laughs in the end.
"Then turn around…" I take out my wallet from the back pocket and retrieve the condom I had there.
I cover myself, eager to find out how delicious she might be, watching as she lifts her dress and lets the straps fall off her shoulder, keeping the fabric clinging to her body.
She was without lingerie as if she knew we would have this little encounter, or maybe she just didn't want to mark the fabric of her beautiful dress.
I hold on to her hips, guiding my erection into her opening. I noticed when she placed one of her feet on the first shelf, opening herself even more for me. I push inside and feel her tight walls, almost as if she's untouched.
I thrust harder, hearing her breathy moan of pleasure, letting out a groan louder than I should, thrusting into her with anger for being here in the depths of a library. I wanted to be in bed with her in my arms.
I grip her waist, and seeing the marks of my fingers on her white skin leaves me with a strange feeling I don't recognize.
"Don't stop…" She pleads.
I quicken my pace as her body shows signs of approaching orgasm. I run my hand along her neck and squeeze slightly as I pull her towards my lips. Somehow, I feel how she tightens around me, making our friction easier.
“I need to come, mia cara,” her body seems tense.
Our moans end up being a bit louder than they should, and I slide my hand down her body until I reach the pussy that was gripping me as if strangling me. I circle her clit with my finger, massaging until she reaches orgasm. I love seeing her relax into my chest and arch her generous ass even more to sink into that delicious flesh.
I thrust two more times and left a bite on her shoulder, reveling in the frenzy I felt as I let my cum fill the condom.
I rested my forehead on her back, trying to control my breathing so that I could leave there and go searching for Giulia.
"I know it was great, but I have to go," she says as she straightens up and fixes her dress.
I can't understand the rush I see as she fixes her dress and secures the blonde strands that had come out of her braid. When she takes two steps away, I look at the condom stained with blood.
Then I was hit by the reality of what was happening at that moment.
I was a damn idiot who took a woman's virginity in the worst way possible. I notice how she's paler than paper and starts to move away from me, frightened.
"Hey, wait…" I shout as I quickly dress.
I remove the condom and dispose of it in the nearest trash can as I try to find the woman who didn't even tell me her name. I have no idea if she's a student or a relative of someone who attends George Washington.
When I finally leave the library, I can't find her. Not at the entrance, nor do I recognize her among the people heading towards the auditorium.
"Stupido!" I get irritated and curse myself in my language.
The only option is to go look for my daughter and try to find this girl later. I need to make amends; this is not how a woman should lose her virginity.
I walk angrily towards where the party is happening. There's a receptionist, and I introduce myself to find out where I should be. By some stroke of luck, I end up finding Giulia on the other side of the auditorium, waiting for something.
I sit where I was indicated and keep my eyes on my daughter, hoping she feels my gaze and looks for me.
Some classes hold graduation ceremonies, while my daughter's class will become residents next semester. From what I hear, the speaker saying, her class has been accepted into an excellent residency program.
I started to feel proud, knowing that my Antonella would be as proud as I am of our little girl. The graduation party for the other students wasn't too long, and when I finally managed to get Giulia's attention, her eyes lit up like a neon sign. I smile, seeing her happiness.
She excuses herself from several of her classmates and walks towards me with open arms. I plant a kiss on her forehead and look at her proudly.
"I couldn't be prouder of you, my piccola," I say, filled with pride.
"I thought you were only coming tomorrow!" Her eyes were teary.
"And miss all of this? Never…"
I say, pulling her to a quieter spot. I know they'll be having a party with a Brazilian DJ who's all the rage, leaving everyone here quite eager for the festivities.
"Don't you want to stay?" She holds on to my arm as we walk back to where she was just now.
The group going with her to the residency program isn't very large, just four students.
"We're just missing Alessa; she said she was going to get her contact lenses," Giulia explains with a smile.
I don't intend to stay here for long, especially because I don't like noise and being in the midst of so many people. I think age is catching up with me, and I much prefer a glass of wine with some cheese and slow music, savoring a night's achievement.
I would have liked to do that with the girl from the library, but since she vanished, I'll have a heavy conscience.
"Dear, I'm leaving now, but I hope to see you for lunch tomorrow," I say, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
Her sad look almost convinces me, but this little girl can't fool me anymore. I may be an absent father, but our relationship isn't lacking in love.
"It's a shame you can't stay longer; I wanted to introduce you to Alessa," I say, rolling my eyes at my daughter.
As if I would remember another girl the next day. Before I could say goodbye, I feel a presence by my side.
"Introduce me to whom, I hope it's some hot guy?" I freeze in place as I recognize the sweet voice beside me.
"Well, I don't know if I'm a 'hot guy,' but I think I'm the one Giulia wants to introduce you to!" I say to the girl, petrified in front of me.

I gasped into him, his hand sliding up to cup my jaw, holding me as if afraid I might vanish.
"You drive me insane," he breathed against my mouth, his lips trailing to my throat. "I can't lose you, Ella. Not you."
My head fell back, a soft sound escaping me as his fingers memorized my waist. My anger melted beneath his desperation.
"James..." I whispered, more plea than protest.
His hand caught mine, fingers threading together tightly. "I'll bring him back. I swear it. Just... don't turn away from me. Please."
The word please—low, ragged, almost broken—undid me more than anything else could have.
