Chapter 4 Jason

I looked at Tiffany's face and the shock in her face was extremely priceless.

I knew Tiffany hated Maya for whatever reason she did and using her as an escape route was the best move I have made in days.

Well, except for the one where I punched Reagan, even though Tiffany was hooking up with him, beating him felt rewarding for all the stupid things he had said about the Ice Jumpers.

"So I break up with you and the best thing for you to do is pretend to be hooking up with this ugly bitch..... she's not even half of what I am," Tiffany said, and I could hear the jealousy and anger in her voice.

"Who said I was pretending? I have wanted to break up with you for a long time?" I said, lying confidently?

I turned to Maya, who was already boiling with rage.

"And let me tell you, Maya is much better than you in many ways that I can't name in one day," I said, smiling as I pressed Maya closer to me.

"I have had a crush on Maya for a long time and I just couldn't tell her," I said, hoping to rage bait Tiffany more.

"And seeing that you were no longer interested in me, and you had decided to sell yourself short to my rival, I thought to myself this was the perfect time to make it public," I said, smiling as I held Maya tight.

Tiffany turned to leave in anger as Reagan shot me a dirty look before turning to follow her.

"Enjoy my leftovers," I said as I waved them letting of Maya.

"Are you nuts?" she asked, placing her hands on her head.

"Why?" I asked nonchalantly as I sat back down, crossing my legs comfortably on the chair, happy that I was able to embarrass Tiffany before she could embarrass me.

"You just told your girlfriend—"

"Ex-girlfriend," I replied, correcting her.

"I don't care whatever the fuck she is, you just told her you and I were in a relationship," she said, pointing to the door.

"Relax, it's no big deal. I just wanted her to know that she's replaceable," I said, uncrossing my legs and standing up.

" You are not right in the head, and you better pray she or nobody doesn't try to make this public," she said, storming.

"Babe, babe," I said, laughing as I watched her storm off.

"You know that's not cool, right?" Chad asked, sitting close to me.

"You just put Maya in the spotlight," he said, crossing his arm on his chest.

"Relax, nobody is going to know, it just happened here between us," I said, trying to calm him down.

We stayed for another two hours before deciding to call it a day and go back home.

I threw a knowing glance at Maya before opening the door and leaving the Arcade. The drive home with Chad was quiet and Chad kept shooting a dirty look now and then to remind me that I had done something stupid.

To me, it wasn't stupid, but Chad didn't think, so I had to keep trying to calm him down and tell him nobody apart from us knew what was going on.

I got home and immediately crashed head first into my bed, immediately falling asleep.

The next morning, I woke up to my phone ringing. I picked it up. Day, it was Chad.

I cleaned my eyes and picked up the call.

"Hey man, I am going on Instagram right now," he said, his voice sounding urgent.

"What's happening on Instagram, Man, it's fucking 7AM in the morning?" I said reluctantly.

"Just go now," he said. The line went dead. I yawned and went straight to Instagram and the first video I saw was Tiffany crying.

"Hello guys," she said, wiping her eyes.

"I know many of you would be wondering why I'm crying. I have been inactive for a while, and it's because something terrible happened," she said. With fresh tears coming down her face as she wiped it off.

"So, as you all know, Jason and I have been in a relationship since high school and just yesterday I found out he had been cheating on me with some girl working in Hayley's arcade," she said, sniffling.

"I'll show you the video where he made that confession," she said.

Then a video from yesterday when I professed my fake love for Maya popped up.

I immediately stood up to wash my eyes, I picked my phone back up and tried to call Chad.

"What's going on?" I said immediately when he picked up the call.

"I warned you about this yesterday, didn't I, but just like you always do, you brushed it off as nothing?" he said, sounding serious.

"You have to find a way to fix this," he said before the line went dead.

I went back to my Instagram, I clicked the comments under the video.

"Jason is not only a beast but a man whore"

"That bitch is just pretending. I mean look at their faces."

"I feel like this is staged. I mean, how do we know this is not just a stunt to gain publicity before the next game?"

"That bitch is so ugly, I couldn't even watch the video to the end."

"We are so sorry about this, Tiff, your fans are going to make sure that girl sees nothing but hell."

I slammed my phone face down on the bed, running my hands in my hair, trying to think of a way to fix whatever is happening right now.

My phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts. It was coach. I took a deep breath before picking up the call.

"Meet me at the rink now," he said. Immediately, the line went dead. I got up and threw on any clothes my hands could reach and stormed out of the house.

I went to the rink saying a prayer before going in. I opened the door.

My dad was standing with his hands behind his back.

Coach's eyes were red with anger as I walked in to meet them.

"What's going on? Jason?" the coach asked with controlled anger.

"What's going on between you and Tiffany?" My dad asked, his baritone vibrating through the Rink.

"I don't know, yesterday Tiffany came to meet me at the arcade to tell me she was done with the relationship. She had Reagan by her side and then—"

"Then you thought it was the best idea for you to announce that you were dating that girl," my dad said, cutting me off.

"What more do you want, Jason? I have given you everything, a life, a roof over your head, money, everything?" he said, pointing a finger at me.

"And all you do is to go around and make a mess. Do you know how much I had to pay to stop Mr. Miller from filing a lawsuit, or how much I gave the board to keep you on this team?" he continued. His voice was heavy. It echoed around the rink.

"I wasn't thinking I just-"

"Tell me one time you think before making a decision," he said, coming close to me.

"I have done my best to cover you. Every time you make a mess, I try my best to shield you from the public eye, paparazzi or media humiliation, and you've proven to me that I am just wasting my time," he said, poking his finger at my chest.

"Dad-"

"You are on your own this time, fix it yourself and, until you do, I don't want to see you," he said, hitting his shoulders on mine before walking away.

"Coach-"

"I'm sorry, Jason, but you are suspended until the end of finals. You are not to show your face here until then," the coach said before walking away, leaving me to stand alone with my thoughts.
