Chapter 10

Gwen's POV

I slowly pulled my hands from Elliot's hand, with my gaze fixated on the handsome elderly man standing with the man who paid Madam Green. Elliot turned around and faced the elderly man.

"Roberto, tell Ethan to see me in my office at once," I heard the elderly man say, and the man who had paid Madam Green left immediately.

"Father, I am just welcoming this beauty into our humble home. A courtesy that Ethan clearly lacks. If it wasn't for me, our guest would be in an ambulance heading to the hospital as we speak," Elliot said, and I snapped out of the moment.

I became aware of my current state, and I hugged myself in an attempt to cover myself up.

"Elliot, I don't want to see you anywhere around her. She is your brother's guest and you should respect that," I heard the man say.

"Fine, shoot the saviour, as always," Elliot said, and walked away.

I was now left standing on the staircase in a dress that completely exposed me.

"You must be the girl Madam Green proposed," the elderly man said.

Proposed? I thought. What does he mean? I thought as the elderly man approached the staircase. Did they bring me here for him? I thought.

I hugged myself, feeling very embarrassed in the clothes I was wearing. He stopped a distance away and snapped his finger. A lady in uniform came to the scene. I was not sure which direction she came from as I had my head lowered.

"Take her to the guest room downstairs," the man said.

"Yes, Mr Grey," the lady said, and walked up to me.

"This way, miss," she said, pointing me in a direction.

I hugged myself and completed descending the staircase. The lady held me by my arms and began pulling me in the direction she had pointed out to me. She walked me down a corridor and finally stopped at an open door.

"This is your room," she said, and I looked inside the room.

It was like the bedroom upstairs, except the bed had a curtain. I stood there, reluctant to enter, but the lady pushed me inside and closed the door. I stood up and tried to open the door, but it was locked.

"Please, let me out," I yelled, banging on the door. "Please," I begged, but it was like no one could hear me, or if they did, they simply ignored me.

After a couple of minutes banging on the door with no response, I left the door and started scanning the room.

"There might be a way to get out of here," I thought.

My eyes scanned the entire room, which was filled with nothing but luxury, and it fell on the balcony door. I walked towards it and opened it. I walked onto the balcony and quickly got to the railing. I looked down and it felt like a long way down. For someone who is scared of heights, I move away from the railing quickly. For a second there, I thought I would fall. I went down on all four, my hands and knees, and crawled back into the room, my heart beating faster in my chest.

I sat down in front of the balcony door, hugging my knees, wondering how I got myself into this mess. I wish I could turn back the hand of time, I would have minded my own business when I heard Amanda's cries. I sighed after the thought crossed my mind, because Amanda is a great person and the only friend I have now.

I was not sure how long I sat there, lost in my thoughts, but I lifted my head, and Ethan was in the room, walking towards me. I stood up to my feet.

"Do you know why you are here?" he asked, his gaze very terrifying.

His voice was deep and also unwelcoming. He sounded like we quarrelled, or he was angry with me about something I do not know.

"Ye, yes," I stammered, out of fear.

"I see," Ethan replied. "And you want to go through with it?" he asked, and I shook my head.

"Please, I have never done this before. I can't do it. I am scared," I pleaded, and tears filled my eyes, threatening to fall. "Please don't tell Madam Green. I will work to pay off the debt. I can do any kind of work, but please don't sleep with me. I beg you," I pleaded, and his gaze softened as my tears rolled down my cheeks.

He took a step forward and stretched his hand towards me. I stared at his hand and slowly bent towards the opposite side as his hand drew closer. His hand cupped the side of my face, and he rubbed my tears with his thumb. It was both comforting and scary.

"This is what is going to happen," Ethan said, withdrawing his hand. "You will come with me to my room and spend the night," he said, and I began to tremble. "I promise not to touch you," he said. "In the morning, you will pay my mercy by becoming my wife," he said to my shock.

"You want me to marry you?" I asked, surprised.

"Yes. It's either I sleep with you or you marry me," he said, sounding like it was an easy decision to make. "Your choice. It's all the mercy you will get from me," he added.

"Okay," I replied, knowing I had no way of escape.

"What is your decision? Are you sleeping with me or marrying me?" he asked.

"I will marry you," I replied.

"Okay," he said, and offered me his hand.

I stared at his face and shifted my gaze to his hand. I raised my trembling hand to accept his. It took me a while, but I finally rested my hand in his. His hand was huge, and my hand felt like a six-year-old holding her daddy's hand. He clapped his fingers around my hand.

"Let's go then," he said, and pulled me towards the door.

I willingly walked with him. At the door, I grabbed my high-heeled shoes and we stepped out of the room. He returned to the staircase and climbed it. We soon ended up in his room. He closed the door behind us and let go of my hand. I watched him walk towards a door. He opened and entered. After a few minutes, he came out wearing a white robe and walked through another door. I stood there rooted to my spot, fidgeting with my hands.

After what seemed like forever, he came out, his hair looked very dark and sparkling.

"Go take a shower. You reek of club, and I hate the smell on you," he said to me.

"I don't have anything to take a shower," I politely said to him.

"There are clean towels, shampoo, and everything you need. Take a shower and grab yourself a robe," he said, and I nodded.

I walked past him, heading to the door he had come out of. I opened the door and walked into the bathroom. I held the handle of the glass door and slid it open. Behind it was a bathtub. I closed it quickly and opened the next one. It was a shower room. I entered and stared at the tap heads. I turned them and was hit with cold water. I let out a scream and quickly turned it off. I tried something else, eventually I figured it out and took a shower, making use of the shower gel and shampoo. I grabbed myself a towel, wiped myself dry, and slipped into a robe.

Why does he want to marry me? I thought while drying my hair with a towel. I found a place to put the towel and returned to the bedroom.

I found Ethan already in bed, and there was a man's shirt lying at the foot of the bed.

"Put that on for the night. I will get you something in the morning," Ethan said to me, and I shifted my gaze to the shirt.

I picked it up and held it to my chest while looking for a place I could stand and change. Finding no place, I headed towards the bathroom.

"Where are you going?" Ethan asked me.

"To the bathroom. I am going to put on the shirt," I replied politely, and he gestured for me to go.

I went to the bathroom and returned to the room, wearing the shirt. It was short-sleeved, but it looked big on me. I was also not wearing anything under the shirt.

"Come lie down. It's late," he said, and my eyes widened.

"I will sleep......," I said and looked around, but he didn't have a three or two-in-one couch.

They will comfy single chairs.

"I will sleep on the floor," I said, pointing my finger to the floor.

"You sleep on the floor, and I will fvck you," he said, and my heart skipped multiple beats.

I walked to the bed without another word and climbed into bed. I lay down and turned my back to him, and kept my body close to the edge of the bed.

"Good night," I heard him say.

"Good night," I replied, and I heard ruffled noise.

The lights went off, and I became tense. Every inch of me felt like any minute he would reach for me. I lay there in the dark, scared of the unknown.

I opened my eyes, and the room was bright. It was morning. I looked behind me, and Ethan was not in bed. I quickly examined my body.

Did he sleep with me? I thought, not sure, I will know if he did.

I had no idea when I slept off. I heard a door unlocking sound and shifted my gaze to the door. Ethan walked in dressed in a fine suit.

"Get ready. It's your turn to fulfil your side of the bargain," he said and placed a bag on the table.

I got ready, dressed up in the nice dress he got me, and we soon found ourselves in the courthouse. In a couple of minutes, we were married. From the courthouse, he dropped me off at the club.

"I will come for you in the evening," he said, and the car left.
