Chapter 1 Is Your Body Failing?
After three years of marriage, Candice Elikin was exposed as a fake heiress.
Her husband's mother forced her to divorce, wanting to return the marriage contract to the real heiress.
Candice anxiously asked her husband, Brandon Obelon.
He replied coldly, "It doesn't matter who I marry."
Heartbroken, she signed the divorce agreement.
A week later, more than a dozen helicopters landed in front of Candice, and three sons from the wealthiest families stepped out.
They exclaimed excitedly, "You're our sister! After twenty years, we've finally found you!"
"Two months away on business, and we only make love once? Is something wrong with you?"
Early morning, after an intensely passionate encounter, Candice felt like she'd briefly died and come back to life.
Drenched in sweat, her body completely drained of energy, breathing unevenly, she still clung to Brandon's lean waist and asked.
Brandon was about to get out of bed to shower.
Hearing her words, he paused, gripped her chin, his voice deep and husky, "What? Not satisfied?"
"Of course not. You've spoiled my appetite! But if you're really having issues, you should schedule a doctor's appointment soon. Don't neglect your health..."
Before Candice could finish, he silenced her with an angry kiss.
Brandon had never known restraint, and now provoked, his possession came swift and fierce.
"Candice, today I'll show you just how capable I am!"
Candice matched his passion eagerly!
She knew the man before her preferred enthusiastic women.
Although he didn't love her, in these intimate moments, he gave her the illusion that he deeply cared!
But Candice didn't mind.
After two years of marriage to Brandon, she was willing to spend more time warming his heart.
She dreamed of having children with him!
With this thought, Candice tightened her grip on his broad shoulders.
When everything finally ended, it was already four in the afternoon.
Brandon had physically demonstrated to Candice that there was nothing wrong with him—in fact, quite the opposite!
After showering, he dressed as usual in a shirt and slacks.
His tall frame made simple clothes perfectly outline his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs. His features were strikingly handsome, as if the creator had shown special favoritism in crafting them.
His deep-set eyes with their slightly upturned corners looked both mysterious and passionate, while his entire demeanor exuded unparalleled dignity.
As he was methodically fastening his shirt buttons, a sudden, urgent phone ring broke the silence.
Brandon freed one hand to answer.
Whatever the person on the other end said left him visibly surprised.
A few seconds later, he hung up and fixed his penetrating gaze directly on Candice.
Candice was nearly passed out from exhaustion, but forced herself to stay conscious enough to ask, "What is it? Who called?"
Brandon replied in a flat tone, "My mother. She says you're the Elikin family's fake heiress? That you have no blood relation to Xander? And the real heiress has been found?"
Candice's heart suddenly tightened, instantly clearing her mind.
A month ago, her father, Vesper Elikin, had gone to the hospital for a check-up due to health concerns, which led to the discovery that their blood types didn't match.
The Elikin family immediately launched a nationwide search and, half a month ago, reunited with their true biological daughter, Vesper Elikin!
On the night of the reunion, the Elikin family hosted a grand welcome party where Vesper accidentally fell into the swimming pool and immediately accused Candice of pushing her.
The Elikin family was furious. Countless people condemned Candice, calling her an "attempted murderer."
As the fake heiress, she was naturally expelled from the family!
Brandon, having been away on business for two months, knew nothing about this.
Candice had planned to find the right moment to tell him, but never expected Brandon's mother, Brielle Dixon, would beat her to it.
Candice nodded, unconsciously clutching the bedsheet tighter. "Yes, that's true. What did your mother say?"
Brandon's tone remained extremely calm, as if discussing something completely trivial, "She believes that since this marriage was arranged between the Obelon and Elikin families, and now that the real heiress has returned, the marriage contract should be returned to its rightful owner."
The implication was clear—she should surrender her marriage to Vesper!
Candice's expression darkened.
Being a fake heiress was something no one had anticipated!
She and Brandon had been married for two years—an unchangeable fact.
Was this something you could just "return"?
However, more than Brielle's attitude, Candice cared about Brandon's stance.
"What about you? What do you think?"
Candice tightened her fingers, looking hopefully at Brandon.
She believed that after two years of marriage, she had been the perfect full-time wife.
She had personally taken care of all his daily needs!
Her attentiveness to him had been meticulous and complete.
She thought that even if Brandon didn't love her yet, he must at least like her somewhat.
But his next response was like a bucket of ice water poured over her head, leaving her frozen to the core.
"I haven't given it much thought. It's just a marriage contract—whoever it's with doesn't matter to me. I have a flight tonight to a neighboring city for a few days. I need to go now."
With that, he didn't wait for Candice's reaction before picking up his suit jacket and leaving.
The moment the door quietly closed, Candice felt suffocated.
At the same time, her heart felt like it had been stabbed, making it impossible to breathe.
Her mind kept replaying Brandon's final words.
Anyone would do for him?
Of course.
To Brandon, marriage was nothing more than an optional accessory.
Everything had just been her own delusion!
Only in this moment did Candice truly see how cold-hearted Brandon was.
His heart was something she could never win, not even if she spent her entire life trying!
An hour after Brandon left, Brielle arrived with divorce papers in hand.
She flung the documents at Candice, berating her, "Two years of marriage and you couldn't even produce a child, and now we find out you're a fake heiress! I always said you didn't have the look of someone born to wealth, and I was right! With your unclear background and attempted murder, such a venomous heart—how could you ever be worthy of Brandon? Sign these papers quickly and get out of the Obelon family!"
Candice, already emotionally drained, was rendered speechless by the divorce papers thrown in her face.
After a moment, she found her voice again and asked, "Is this Brandon's wish or yours?"
Brielle answered self-righteously, "It's my wish and his wish! How could someone like you marry into our Obelon family? Once you're divorced, next month Brandon will marry Vesper—she's the true daughter-in-law the Obelon family deserves!"
Candice felt a stabbing pain in her heart.
Was Brandon that eager?
He hadn't even boarded his flight yet, but had already sent divorce papers.
Fighting back tears, she opened the document.
When she saw that the agreement stated she would "leave with nothing," it felt even more painful.
These days, even housekeepers get paid.
After being Brandon's wife in the Obelon family for two years, she would end up without a penny!
Candice found it laughable.
Brielle, fearing Candice might make demands, sneered, "What else are you unhappy about? If not for the mistaken identity, could you have enjoyed two years as the wife of a wealthy heir, free from any worries about food or clothing? Let me tell you, be grateful for what you have and don't dream of getting anything more! Sign quickly, or I'll have someone force you."
Candice felt something lodged in her throat, but ultimately didn't insist on anything further. She raised her hand and signed the divorce papers.
She thought Brielle would finally be satisfied.
But the woman wasn't finished. She continued to press aggressively, "By the way, return the wedding ring Brandon gave you immediately! That's an expensive blue diamond, custom-made by a famous master craftsman, worth millions of dollars. You're not worthy of it! And the matching necklace set—you need to return all of it!"
Candice responded coldly, "They're in the safe. I never wore them."
Except for her wedding day, she had never even touched them.
