Chapter 105
Gavin’s POV
“Don’t go anywhere near my sister,” Gavin texted back, fury was now boiling through his body.
She was now threatening his younger sister and he wasn’t going to stand for that.
“Then, I suggest you do exactly what I say. Meet me in our usual spot.”
Gavin clutched his phone in his hand angrily; his knuckles grew white. Then, he shoved the phone into his pocket and stood to his feet. The thought of leaving Erin alone was unsettling. He didn’t want to chance to have anything terrible happening while he was gone.
But if he didn’t go, then it would be his sister’s life on the line.
He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead before leaving the room. One of the nurses was walking by and spotted him.
“Are you leaving?” She asked with a frown.
“There’s some business I need to take care of. If anything happens, call me,” he ordered as he walked through the front doors.
He needed to get to his sister as quickly as possible.
“Keep the safehouse open,” Gavin finally mindlinked his beta back. “I’m coming back to convince Jill to go.”
…
It didn’t take long for Gavin to return to his packhouse. As said, Jill was in her room, packing her belongings and getting ready to leave for another world tour. Gavin stepped in front of her like he was her father, folding his arms across his chest.
“What are you doing?” He found himself asking her.
She frowned at him, narrowing her eyes.
“I’m packing,” she said, raising her brows. “I’m leaving in a couple of days.”
“You need to go to a safe house, Jill,” Gavin said in a low tone. “It’s not safe out here for you. You need to get to safety.”
“Gavin, we already talked about this. I don’t want to go to a safe house. There’s so much I want to do. I’m not going to be locked away until the end of time.”
“It’s only until I know it’s safe,” Gavin told her firmly.
“Safe from what? You still won’t tell me who we are hiding from. What do they want with Mom and dad?” Jill asked, keeping her eyes locked on his.
“The less you know, the better.”
“That’s not good enough for me,” Jill said, turning her back towards him as she continued to pack. “I’m sorry, Gavin. But I’m not going to a safe house. Not until you tell me what’s going on.”
“There’s somebody after our family,” Gavin found himself saying.
She paused and glanced up at him.
“Who?”
“I don’t know,” Gavin answered.
“You don’t know?” She asked in return, raising her brows. “How do you not know?”
“Because she wears a mask and goes by a stage name,” he answered. “She says her name is April, but there’s no actual record of her. However, she has people all over this planet and they all work for her and do her bidding.”
“So, what does she want with us?”
“I don’t know…” Gavin said honestly. “But she’s been making me do things with her in order to keep mom and dad safe. She’s had her eyes on them for a while, so I sent them away to a safe house. She just figured out where they were, so I had to move them. But now you are back in town, which means she has her eyes set on you. Don’t you see now that I’m doing this for your own safety?”
“Maybe try to figure out what she actually wants,” Jill said, folding her arms across her chest. “She’s obviously after something specific. So, give her what she wants in exchange for your and our freedom.”
“I don’t think it’s that simple,” Gavin said, shaking his head. “She’s powerful. I can feel it when I’m around her. She causes a lot of fear and people will do whatever it is she wants. This makes her incredibly dangerous. Her scent is untraceable, her aura is like no other, and it’s impossible to seek her out to negotiate anything with her. There’s nothing I can give her that she doesn’t already have. Whatever it is she wants, I fear I might not be able to give her. But for right now, she’s testing the waters to see how far I’ll go to keep those I love safe. So, I need your help to keep you all safe, Jill.”
Jill was quiet for a moment as she stared around her brother’s face with a questionable frown.
“I’ve never known you to be afraid of anything,” Jill said, furrowing her brows together. “Especially not a simple she-wolf.”
“She isn’t a simple she-wolf. She’s deadly and has the power to make people do her bidding. I can’t put a stop to her until I figure out what weakens her powers. Until then, I need you to be safe.”
Jill sighed, placing one of her pieces of clothing on her bed.
“Will I have to be at this safe house for long?” She asked, peering up at him.
He relaxed and shook his head.
“Just until I can figure out how to put an end to her,” he assured her. “Hopefully, that won’t take much longer.”
“Maybe you should start by figuring out who the hell this woman is,” Jill suggested. “Then, you might be able to find real information on her including how to stop her.”
If there was one thing that Gavin already knew was that April was a wolf with special abilities, which meant she was part of the Killer organization considering she was using these powers for bad.
She definitely wasn’t part of the Moonshadow, and she couldn’t be part of the Slayer organization because she’s not a vampire; despite her scent being off.
So, if she was part of the Killer organization, that meant they were after him.
…
Erin’s POV
I winced in pain as I started to wake from my deep sleep. I couldn’t remember much of anything that happened. But the faint lighting of the room I was in was bringing me back to life and hurting my head at the same time.
I felt a tugging at my throat, and I couldn’t help but cough; the overload of air that was being pumped into my lungs was too much for me to handle and I began swiping at it to relieve some of the pressure.
I started to gag; as much air was filling my lungs, I also found it incredibly difficult to breathe.
I also couldn’t speak.
“It’s okay! Hold on!” I heard a woman say as she neared my bedside.
I felt the tubes in my throat wiggling, causing me to gag even more. I thought for a moment that I was about to throw up at any moment. She quickly pulled the tubes out of my mouth, and I felt a sense of relief.
I gasped for air and touched my aching throat, rubbing it to relieve some of the pressure.
A warm cloth got placed over my mouth to wipe some of the saliva off my lips and chin.
“Are you okay?” The woman asked with clear worry in her tone. “Just take some deep breaths.”
I took a steady deep breath and held it for a short while before releasing it. I felt my body relaxing and the aching in my throat started to go away. However, the aching in my head remained and I winced again at the uncomfortable sensation.
I kept my eyes closed, too afraid to see what was happening around me.
“You sustained some serious injuries, but you are in the hospital, and you are safe,” the woman, I’m assuming was the nurse or maybe even a doctor, had said. “You weren’t alone though. Your future husband-to-be, Alpha Gavin Pierce, has spent most of this time with you. He’s been very caring and sweet. I didn’t know he had that side to him. But he had to run off this morning to take care of some business. But he should be back soon.”
At that point, I forced my eyes open to her words.
What did she just say?
My future what?
Who?
