Chapter 120

Erin’s POV

“Beta Seth? What are you doing?” I asked, trying to shove him away from me, but his knee went into my stomach, pinning me to the wall even more.

“I asked you a question,” he growled in return. “What are you really doing here? What are your intentions with Alpha Gavin?”

“Get off of me,” I hissed and this time I shoved him with a little too much force to the point where he stumbled backward in surprise. “Don’t ever touch me like that again.”

I went to walk away, but he grabbed onto my arm, spinning me around to face him.

“If you are here to harm Alpha Gavin in any way—”

“I’m not trying to harm him, I’m trying to save him,” I said firmly, pulling my arm away from his grip.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

“Save him? What do you mean?”

“I know about the blackmailer,” I said through my teeth.

I watched the life drain from Seth’s face as he stared at me.

“How did you hear about her?” He finally asked after a beat of silence.

“So, I was right? He’s being blackmailed…”

Seth gasped at my words and scrambled to cover my mouth with his hands, but I slapped him away.

“I said don’t touch me,” I said, dodging him.

“You can’t say a word to him about this. He will kill me if he found out I said anything.”

“Who is she?” I demanded to know.

“I don’t know,” he answered, shaking his head with dismay written all over his face. “Gavin doesn’t know.”

“How does he not know? Is she the one he’s been meeting up with?”

“How did you know about that?” Seth asked, eyeing me carefully. “Tell me the truth. Who are you?”

I was tempted to just tell him the truth, but I couldn’t compromise the mission.

“I’m the she-wolf who’s going to help him. Now, are you going to help me do that?”

He stared at me for a long while, processing what I had just said.

“She wears a mask,” he finally said, sighing in defeat.

“What?” I asked, raising my brows. “What do you mean she wears a mask?”

“When they meet up; she never reveals her face. She wears a mask, so he doesn’t know who she is. But she’s an incredibly powerful woman and—”

“She can’t be more powerful than Gavin,” I interrupted.

“She has far more connections around the world. Not just the werewolf world… all the worlds. She’s an incredibly powerful ally and she has eyes and ears everywhere. Everybody works for her…”

“What species is she?”

“He doesn’t know that either,” he said with a shrug. “She has the power to disguise her scent. She’s untraceable.”

“Is she the one threatening his family? The reason why they are in a safe house?”

He folded his arms across his chest.

“You’ve done your homework.”

“I’m doing a lot more than you think, Seth,” I responded. “I need to find out who this woman is so I can put a stop to her.”

“You don’t think he’s tried?” Seth asked, shaking his head. “Gavin is the most powerful and strongest Alpha there is. If he can’t put a stop to her, then nobody can. That’s why he’s been searching for the Moonshadow organization.”

Suddenly everything started fitting together like a puzzle. He’s been looking for the members of the organization because he wanted to seek their help.

Luckily for him, he doesn’t know that his mate is one of the top members.

“You don’t seem surprised by that,” Seth pointed out. “Is there a reason for that?”

“It makes sense,” I said casually. “The Moonshadow is said to be incredibly strong and skilled. If anyone can defeat this monster of a woman, it’s them. I’m not surprised he’s trying to seek them out.”

“Are you going to tell me who you really are?” Seth asked again, stepping closer to me.

“I’m Erin…” I told him with a grin. “But you already knew that. I need to go now. I’ll see you later, Beta Seth.”

Without another word, I shoved past him and out of the closet.

My heart was beating quickly, and I thought I was going to start having a panic attack. I had never heard of a woman that powerful before and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried.

Whoever she was, she could possibly be more dangerous than all the Slayers and Killers in the world.

I walked toward the guest room, but not before glancing at Gavin’s bedroom door first. He was in there, sulking no doubt. I had hurt him, and I felt terrible for that.

But it was for his own good.

If I had remained in his room, distracted by his hotness, then I would have never found this useful information.

I needed to update Henry and Theo and figure out a game plan for finding out who this woman was.

Gavin’s POV

Beta Seth appeared in Gavin’s office the next morning and Gavin knew right away that something was wrong.

“What is it, Beta?” Gavin asked, looking up from his papers to meet the eyes of his beta.

“There’s something about that girl, Erin,” Seth said, shaking his head. “I think she’s up to something and I don’t think she can be trusted.”

“If that is all, I’m incredibly busy,” Gavin muttered, staring at his computer.

“Alpha… that’s all you have to say?” Seth asked, stepping closer toward him. “She’s been asking around the palace about you. Personal things. Something isn’t right. As your Beta—”

“As my beta, you need to know your place. I’m the Alpha of this pack and I won’t have you undermining my authority. Erin is a guest in my packhouse, and I won’t have you harassing her.”

“She’s harassing your staff!”

“I doubt she was harassing them,” Gavin said, folding his arms across his chest. “You’ve never liked her, and you’d come up with any excuse to get rid of her.”

“That isn’t true,” Seth said, offended by the accusation. “We bonded during her last stay here…”

“I will talk to Erin myself and find out for sure what exactly she’s up to. In the meantime, I need you to back off and just do your job as my Beta.”

“My job is to protect you—”

“Your job is to do as I say,” Gavin said firmly. He stood to his feet, unable to further this conversation or stay in this office any longer. “If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to the local market to pick up some things.”

“You’re going to the local market?” Seth asked, raising his brows. “Why don’t you have someone—”

“I’d rather go myself,” Gavin said, brushing past his beta.

Gavin went into the town and to the local market. The market in his town had the freshest fruits and veggies. He was craving mangoes; and plus, he knew the girl that worked there quite well, and he could use a little attention from a nice piece of wolf.

“Alpha Gavin?” Cassandra said with her large brown eyes. “It’s always unexpected when you come here yourself. We just got some fresh mangoes in. Help yourself.”

She wore a very tight uniform that revealed most of her bodacious curves and her busty breasts. Her hair was long and fell in blond locks around her shoulders. She was quite beautiful; though, certainly not as beautiful as Erin.

However, Erin didn’t want him like that.

She only wanted a distraction.

“Thank you, Cassie,” he said to her, giving her a wink that caused her cheeks to grow red.

“How have you been, Alpha? I haven’t seen you since—” her voice trailed off when she remembered their last encounter with one another.

That was certainly a nice time.

“Busy,” he answered. “I’m certainly in a lot better mood now, though.”

She chuckled at his remark as she touched his arm; he found himself flexing for her benefit. Though, he wished it was Erin that was there instead of Cassandra.

He picked out a few perfectly ripe mangoes and handed them to her to check out at the register. She placed them in a bag and handed them back to him.

“It’s on the house,” she said, biting her glossy bottom lip.

“Then keep this as a tip,” he said, sliding some money across the counter.

She smiled even wider and pocketed the change.

“I heard your sister was in town and then she left. I’m sorry I missed her. Send her my best though, will you?” She asked.

He nodded to her as he turned away, but then an idea surfaced in his mind.

He turned back to her, a glimmer of a smile on his lips.

“Cassie… what are you doing tonight?”

This was the perfect chance for him to make Erin jealous.
