Chapter 125
Gavin’s POV
Everybody at the press conference was in awe of her. Including Gavin who couldn’t seem to stop staring at her.
She spoke with such confidence and grace that he hardly knew who she was. Actually, it reminded him of the old Erin back in high school. She had the same confident demeanor she did back then too.
The same Erin that rejected him and destroyed both him and his wolf.
He worried that history was going to repeat itself.
But the way she told the world of her love for him, it made his heartbeat quickly in his chest and he couldn’t help the stupid grin that appeared on his lips.
She was absolutely stunning to him; she was stunning to everybody no doubt.
After a pause of silence, the crowd erupted into loud cheers and applause. They stood to their feet to continue clapping.
Even Gavin clapped for his future Luna.
She chuckled and stared around at all the pleased faces, bowing her head slightly in their direction before peering back up at him.
“How did I do?” She whispered her question to her.
“Incredible,” he answered, draping an arm around her waist, and pulling her close to him. She chuckled again as he nuzzled his face into the nape of her neck, tickling her gently and causing goosebumps to form on her skin.
“Gavin!” She gasped, trying to keep her tone down. “Not here!”
His eyes darkened; it took everything he had not to bend her over and fuck her right then and there. But she was right; now was not the time.
It would have to wait until later.
After press conferences, usually Gavin would organize a banquet. He would invite a few of the top ranking Alpha’s and those who are important around the werewolf kingdom. Important shareholders, press, rich and famous wolves, etc.
The banquet was held in the dining hall for events in the middle of the City near the town hall. He had the best chefs from around the werewolf world working the event and cooking only the best foods.
He had a bartender fixing everyone a drink and the best live music he could buy.
“This food is delicious,” Erin said, taking a mouthful of one of the dishes at the food table.
Gavin couldn’t help but smile down at his future Luna; his heart was beating quickly as he looked at her.
“Only the best,” he said in return.
“Alpha Gavin!” Another Alpha said as he approached. Gavin knew this man to be Alpha Jordan; he wasn’t as rich as Gavin, but he was incredibly resourceful and knew how to save a penny. “That was quite a conference.”
“I’m glad you could make it,” Gavin said in return, giving Jordan a firm handshake. “I see your Luna made it as well. You two always did look good together.”
Jordan glanced behind him at his Luna who was laughing with some of the other Lunas that were there. Jordan’s luna, Christie, was quite beautiful in her own way. She was of a foreign wolf country and had a heavy Hispanic accent. She had dark and curly hair that draped over her shoulders and down her back, expanding to just above her waistline.
She had an hourglass figure that she showed off by wearing incredibly tight clothing. She glanced over at her shoulder and peered at Jordan through her big brown eyes, batting her long lashes at him and blowing him a kiss.
His smile widened as he winked at her.
They had been mates for a long time and Gavin was always envious of their relationship.
“Our mate is way better,” Roman interrupted his inner thoughts.
Gavin couldn’t have agreed more.
“Are you prepared for the Alpha Convention in a few weeks?” Jordan asked, eyeing him carefully. “I hear the competition is tough this year.”
“I’ve never been more ready. You heard the applause at that conference. I’m already gaining more popularity,” Gavin said with a sly smile. “I just hope you are ready for some fierce competition.”
“We’ll see about that,” Jordan said with a laugh.
Gavin turned to look at Erin, he couldn’t get enough of looking at her, but to his shock and dismay, she was gone.
He frowned as he glanced around the venue to find his mate, but to no prevail.
“Excuse me for a moment,” Gavin said as he turned away and went toward the crowd.
He didn’t get far before a hand slapped him on the back, halting him in his tracks.
“Gavin! You sly dog. I had no idea you two were back together,” Tyler said, shaking his head with dismay written on his face, but a pleased smile surfaced on his lips. “It’s about fucking time.”
“Have you seen Erin around? She was here a minute ago, but now she’s gone.”
“Yeah, I saw her over there,” he said, pointing in a random direction where he saw a bunch of men gathering around. “I’m not quite sure what’s got their attention though.”
Gavin’s frown deepened; he thinks he knew exactly what got their attention.
He approached the crowd of men and just as he thought, Erin was standing in the center of them. She was telling them stories of her time knowing Gavin in high school.
“How did Alpha Gavin, as a scrawny nobody young boy, get such a beautiful she-wolf like yourself,” one of the men Hollard at her.
She looked uncomfortable by the remark.
“If I wasn’t already married, I’d have my way with you right now,” said another wolf, whistling.
Erin chuckled; it was obvious to Gavin that she was trying not to upset them for his benefit. But fury was rising through him. Roman wanted to bust through and release himself, ripping out all of their throats.
“You are quite good-looking,” another man said, touching Erin’s arm.
She pulled her arm away from him and gave him a polite smile.
“That’s quite kind of you all to say,” she said, keeping that smile plastered to her lips. “You have all my respect. But I really should be finding Gavin now.”
She went to step away, but another, much larger, man stood in her path, eyeing her carefully with a hunger in his eyes.
“How about you let a real man satisfy you,” he said in a low and seductive tone.
Gavin felt like he was at his boiling point. He had enough of listening to these assholes flirting with his mate.
He was done standing by and watching them make fools of themselves. He went to take a step toward them, but her firm voice stopped him.
“I assure you; Gavin is more man than I can handle and he’s more man than any of you combined. There’s nothing you can say that will persuade me otherwise. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
She stepped away from them, leaving them speechless.
That’s when they all noticed Gavin standing there; they stared at him dumbfounded and shocked. They scrambled for any excuse they could, rambling at different rates. But Gavin paid them no attention.
His wolf was calm after hearing Erin’s words and Erin stared up at him with a coy smile on her face.
“I’m sorry if I misspoke, Alpha,” she said softly, for only him to hear.
He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her through the crowd, without saying a single word.
“Alpha, where are you taking me?” She gasped, struggling to keep up with him.
“The bathroom,” he said in a low murmur, glancing over his shoulder and meeting her eyes with his darkened gaze. “I need to have you… now.”
