Chapter 137

Erin’s POV

Gavin and his blackmailer were both gone.

I couldn’t believe that he actually left.

I not only felt disappointed, but I was also a little hurt by this. I shook the thought out of my head and jumped into action. The last thing I heard her saying to him was her trying to convince him to go with her to his hotel suite.

I’m assuming it was the same suite I went to when Gavin first came back into my life. The thought of him taking her there left an unsettled feeling in the pit of my stomach.

“The results will be in shortly,” the announcer’s voice boomed throughout the convention.

Everyone was turning their attention to the front stage to prepare for the announcement of the new rankings of the Alphas.

I wasn’t going to be able to stick around to see where Gavin’s new ranking was.

I had to get to that hotel.

Thankfully, the hotel wasn’t too far away from the convention, so it didn’t take me long to get there. The problem was, I needed a key in order to get into the room. I don’t think they would answer the door if I just knocked, and they certainly wouldn’t let me in once they saw it was me.

The front desk clerk was typing on her computer when I approached.

She glanced up at me and gave me a kind smile.

“Hello,” I said as I approached. “I need a favor. I seemed to have forgotten my room key and I was hoping you could get me a new one.”

“Of course,” she said, turning to her computer. “What’s the room number?”

“It’s room 210,” I answered with as much confidence as I could muster.

She typed on her computer and then frowned, glancing up at me with narrowed eyes.

“That’s Alpha Gavin’s room,” she said, raising her brows.

I nodded.

“I’m sure you’ve seen me on the news. I’m Erin Pierce. His new Luna.”

She gasped at my words and typed on her computer quickly.

“Oh, I’m so sorry Mrs. Pierce. Yes, of course, I’ve seen you on the news.”

She was soon printing out a new room key and sliding it across the counter toward me.

“Enjoy your stay, Luna,” she said, bowing her head slightly at me.

I gave her a polite smile before heading toward the elevators.

Gavin’s suite was on the second floor; my heart was pounding at the thought of what I was about to walk into. But I needed to know for sure what was happening and who this blackmailer was.

Once I was on the second floor, I made my way down the long hall until I reached room 210.

I didn’t hear any sound coming from the room, but that wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

I quickly put the key in the door and waited for the light to turn green before shoving my way into the room.

I paused when I saw Gavin half-naked in bed with a woman on top of him, kissing his neck. As soon as I walked in, he nearly shoved her off him and stood to his feet. I was glad that his pants were still on at least; that means I got here right on time.

“Erin?” He said, brushing his fingers through his hair. “What are you doing here?”

“I could be asking you the same thing,” I said, raising my brows at him and folding my arms across my chest.

It was painful to see him in this position; my heart ached painfully in my chest. But I didn’t make that known on my face. I knew this wasn’t his fault.

“You are missing the convention. They were about to announce the results when you left,” I told him, peering up at him and keeping my eyes locked on his.

“Can’t you see that we are busy?” The blackmailer hissed at me. “Why don’t you go back to the convention and mind your own business.”

“I’m not leaving,” I said, turning my attention to her. “I don’t believe we’ve met. I’m Erin.”

I held out my hand for her to take but it seemed she had already figured out my plan and just stared at my outstretched hand with a frown before rolling her eyes.

“I know who you are,” she said in return. “You’re Gavin’s ex.”

“Last time I checked, Gavin and I are still very much together.”

“Not for long,” she said with a glimmer of a smile on her lips. “Isn’t that right Gavin?”

He was about to say something, but I spoke first.

“Who are you and why do you feel the need to hide behind a mask?”

This only made her laugh.

“I’m not the one hiding behind a mask,” she said, raising her brows. “I’m open about who I am. Can I say the same about you, Erin?”

What was she talking about?

“If she’s the leader of the Slayers, that would mean she knows that you are part of the Moonshadow organization,” Emily said from within me.

“If you have beef with me, then leave Gavin and his family out of this. You lured me in and now you have me. So, stop with the games.”

“Not everything is about you, Erin,” she said coolly.

“Then, what is this about?”

“It’s about justice. I want justice for my family; I want to get what they never could. Gavin is incredibly powerful, and they’ve been after his family’s magic for a long time. Gavin is the only one they couldn’t get and now I’m going to get it,” she answered with a shrug.

“If that’s why you are doing this, then why are you playing all these games with him? Why are you having sex and blackmailing him into doing your dirty bidding?” I asked, fury rising through me.

I was growing red with anger, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I lost control of my wolf.

“Because I knew it would get to you,” she chuckled. “It’s like killing two birds with one stone.”

Gavin stepped away from her, staring at her intently as he stood by my side.

“So, you are the leader of the Slayers?” He asked, keeping his eyes locked on hers. “You were doing all this because it’s what your family wanted? You’re a vampire?”

“Does that really surprise you, Gavin darling?” She asked, folding her arms across her chest.

“Tell me who you are,” Gavin growled. “Unmask yourself.”

“Oh, but that ruins all the fun. I enjoy watching you two squirm.”

I couldn’t stand it anymore; I wasn’t going to stand by and watch her torment him any longer. I needed to know who this monster was once and for all.

Without saying anything, I kicked off the ground and did a front flip toward her. Gavin appeared startled by that move, but it was one of my signature moves for a sneak attack because nobody ever expects it.

However, this blackmailer had done her research and jumped away from me, dodging my attack. She laughed as I continued to attempt to grab her mask. Eventually, she stopped fighting and she fell to the ground.

She peered up at me with a glimmer of humor in her icy eyes, just as I grabbed her mask and yanked it off her face.

“You never change,” she sneered.

I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to see.

I stumbled backward in absolute horror.

“Surprised?” She teased.

I was surprised.

Because standing in front of us was my best friend, Jessie.
