Chapter 141
Gavin’s POV
The Killers and the Slayers were ransacking the Alpha conference!
They were all working for one person and that would be Jessie; someone they all thought was dead long ago.
Jessie was the one person he never suspected could be a blackmailer like this, or even associated with the Slayers.
He knew back in high school that she had a small crush on him, but he never knew that it grew into an obsession. Which made no sense because she must have known her very family despised his family.
The former leader of the Slayers, Jesse’s father, found Gavin’s family to be powerful and fierce with a great amount of power. They spent the better part of a decade trying to drink their blood for their abilities. But they always put a stop to them.
That is until they took Gavin as a hostage. Then, his parents had no other choice but to give the Slayers their abilities in exchange for Gavin’s life.
The Slayers made a promise that they would come back for Gavin’s blood once he was of age and obtained his abilities. But once word got out about the leader’s death, they thought they were finally safe.
They never knew that the leader had a child that would soon take over; he certainly didn’t expect that child to be Jessie.
How she managed something like that, Gavin would never know. But all he knew was that she was the most powerful being on the planet. She has the abilities of a vampire and wolf; she also has connections with everyone around the world and proves to be incredibly dangerous.
Gavin’s family was being blackmailed because of this woman.
This was just a ploy to get his blood; just as her family and her organization wanted.
Gavin shifted into his wolf; he knew he needed to put an end to this madness. The convention was still being raided and destroyed by the Killers and Slayers; not to mention Jessie had disappeared.
Gavin spotted Erin from across the room, and it looked like she was speaking to Henry. I furrowed my brows together as I watched their exchange.
She was looking anything but happy. Just as she was about to lunge at Henry, more wolves burst through the doors, windows, and ceiling, dropping into the convention. They were all dressed in dark suits like agents and the look on Erin’s face told Gavin exactly who these wolves were.
The Moonshadow organization.
There were way more of them than there were of the Killers.
Gavin watched as Henry shifted into his wolf while Erin was distracted, and he went toward the crowd of Killers to blend himself in.
Why was he helping the Killers?
Gavin growled and ran in the direction of Henry. It seemed he was using his manipulation on some wolves, trying to get them to do his bidding and it seemed to be working.
“Why are you helping them?” Gavin demanded to know, baring his teeth once he finally caught up to him.
“Because I am their leader,” Henry said in return which sent a chill down Gavin’s spine.
That must be what he told Erin; that he’s been betraying her this entire time. Gavin could only feel fury at that moment, and he bowed his head low to get into his attack stance. A low growl emerged from his throat.
“How could you do that to her? She loved you!” Gavin growled to him.
“She never loved me,” Henry said in return. “It’s always been you she’s been in love with. She never let me mark her because she was always wanting it to be you. I wanted you out of the picture! I wanted you gone.”
“Are you the reason her father decided to break us up?” Gavin dared to ask.
He didn’t need Henry to answer to know that it was true; it was Henry pulling the strings this entire time.
That was why Erin was looking at him with so much fear and resentment, with sadness. Because he had revealed all this to her as well.
“You bastard!!” Gavin growled as he lunged toward Henry.
The two fought with almost equal strength, but Gavin was much quicker. He was soon joined by some of the Moonshadow organization, and they were able to defeat Henry and cuff him with special handcuffs that block abilities and wolf strength.
The leader of the Killer organization was now captured and now he needed to deal with his blackmailer.
The only problem was he had no idea where she was.
Come to think of it… Erin was gone too.
…
Erin’s POV
Jessie had grabbed my hair roughly just as the Moonshadow organization had arrived. While everyone was busy fighting, Jessie was dragging me out of the room and up the stairs toward the rooftop.
“Jessie, let go!” I hissed as we made it to the rooftop.
She released hold of my hair and stood before me, looking more furious than ever. I killed her father; so, I understood that she was angry with me. But I don’t think she always hated me. She might have been jealous of my relationship with Gavin, but at one point, Jessie was my best friend.
I knew that girl was still in there somewhere.
“I spent a long time waiting to get to this moment,” Jessie hissed through her teeth. “Now I’m finally going to get revenge for what you did to my father!”
“I didn’t know he was your father, Jessie. But you have to understand, he wasn’t a good guy. He was hurting a lot of people and he needed to be stopped,” I tried to explain.
“He was still my father. It’s my duty to avenge his death. I wanted you out of the way since you took Gavin from me!”
“I never took Gavin. He was never interested in you,” I said in return, furrowing my brows at her.
“I saw him first and you knew I thought he was cute,” Jessie cried.
For a moment, she sounded like her old teenage self.
“But he’s not your mate,” I said firmly, trying to get through to her. “He’s my mate Jessie and he will always be my mate.”
“You threw him away like he was garbage,” Jessie growled.
“I did that for him. Because I thought it was what was best for him. I did it for his future because of how much I loved him. You were the only other person in this world that knew that. You knew how much he meant to me and how devastated I was when we had to break up.”
“He deserved so much better than you. You were always nothing but a tease! Then, you killed my father, and I knew I needed to get you out of the way,” she said in return.
“He deserved better than me?” I scoffed. “Your family has been after his family for years. They kidnapped him and did unspeakable things to him when he was only a child. Yet, you are saying he deserved better than me? That you’re better than me?”
“I never wanted to hurt him. I wanted to protect him. But I knew the only way I could get him to do whatever I wanted was to blackmail him by threatening the lives of his family. I knew he wouldn’t be able to resist protecting them. Henry was supposed to use his abilities to get Gavin to reject you once and for all, but Gavin proved to be far too powerful, and Henry’s abilities didn’t work on him.”
Hearing this story broke my heart; so much planning and detail went into this; so much that was completely missed.
I took a steady breath, feeling a small ache in my stomach region. I thought I was going to get sick again.
What was with this stomach bug?
“It’s not a stomach bug,” Emily finally spoke after so long of being silent. “Erin…” she started to say slowly. “We are pregnant.”
