Chapter 16

Gavin’s POV

The previous night.

Gavin had returned to his home only to find the Television playing loudly from his workers in the living room. He paused when he saw Susanna’s face. She was holding up her hand and his heart fell into his stomach when he saw the giant-encrusted diamond ring occupying her finger.

That was the same diamond ring he had brought Erin after they graduated high school. The same ring he was going to propose to her with. He kept that ring in his nightstand drawer, never to be opened.

How the hell did it get on Susanna’s hand?”

This broadcast was happening live; she was announcing an engagement that was never discussed.

“Bring me, Susanna, right away,” he seethed, turning his back to the TV and going to his office.

Susanna arrived an hour later; she had a sheepish look in her eyes as she entered his office. She kept her hand behind her back, probably trying to hide the ring from him.

“Hello, my love,” she said with a plastered smile on her lips. “I wasn’t expecting a call. I thought you were busy this evening.”

“What were you thinking?” He asked, glaring at her. “Announcing an engagement without my approval? I never agreed to this.”

“Your pack is getting restless that you have yet to propose to me. The Alpha Convention is only 3 months away. That isn’t enough time for a wedding unless we start planning now.”

“That isn’t your decision to make,” he said through his teeth.

“Someone had to make the decision.”

“Where did you find that ring?”

“In your nightstand,” she said casually, holding it up for him to see, making him even angrier. “I assumed it was for me anyways, so I took the initiative.”

He held his hand up to her, his palm facing the ceiling.

“Hand it over.”

Her eyes grew large as she stared around his very serious face.

“But, Gavin—”

“It is ‘Alpha’ to you, Susanna. Hand over the ring.”

A flash of hurt went through her eyes as she stared around his face for a short while. She eventually pulled the ring off her trembling finger and placed it in the palm of his hand. He snatched it, throwing it in the top drawer of his desk, right beside Erin’s other ring.

“You are dismissed,” he said, looking away from her and back at his computer.

She stood frozen.

“What does that mean?” She asked, her voice hoarse.

“It means we are over, and I don’t wish to see you anymore.”

“Because I jumpstarted our engagement? An engagement that should have already happened?” Tears were filling her eyes at that point.

“That and because I know you’ve had me followed,” he said, glancing back at her paling face. “I don’t appreciate being spied on.”

“And I don’t appreciate being lied to,” she said quickly, her voice cracking. “Do you have any idea how it made me feel being called another woman’s name? You told me she was a nobody and yet you go and see her every day.”

“Are you forgetting whom you are speaking to?” Gavin asked; he kept his tone calm, and yet a threat oozed from his words, giving her a chill down her spine. “I won’t tell you again… leave.”

She was quiet for a short while longer before she wiped the stray tears in her eyes and turned away.

He almost thought she said, “You’ll regret this,” as she left, but he must have been mistaken. Nobody was that stupid to leave him with a threat.

Erin’s POV

“I’m sorry, I think you might have the—”

“Don’t act stupid,” Susanna murmured, folding her arms across her incredibly large chest. “I know you are sleeping with my fiancé, and I want to know what a simple she-wolf did to capture his attention.”

“You are mistaken, Miss Susanna. I haven’t slept with him. I’m a married woman…”

“You are a bad liar,” she scoffed. “I don’t appreciate being made a fool of.” She began rising from her chair, her eyes casting deadly rays in my direction. “I know he’s been coming here every day to see you. He’s fascinated by you and it’s destroyed my relationship with him. I’m the one he was supposed to marry and yet I find him being infatuated with someone who can’t even afford proper shoes.”

I stood to my feet as well, no longer feeling comfortable with being near her.

“You say you’re married but does your so-called husband know you are a whore?”

“Miss Susanna… I ask that you—”

“You are quite literally a nobody and somehow, you’ve captured his attention enough to have an affair. You are a poor and simple waitress, whereas I’m an heiress and a famous fashion designer. I have way more to offer the Alpha than you do.” She flipped her hair behind her shoulder as she said that.

I knew from my first encounter that I had a bad feeling about this woman; I thought it was because she was with Gavin, but now I’m realizing that I could see through. I didn’t like her, and this only confirmed it.

In her eyes, I could see that her wolf was itching to escape from her. She was breathing heavily, and her face was reddened with fury.

She was about to go mad.

“It’s all your fault that he left me!” She yelled, tears burning in her eyes.

My heart fell into my stomach at her words.

Was that true? Did Gavin leave her?

She grabbed a coffee that Kelsey had previously poured for her and lifted it off the table. Her hands were trembling; I had never seen a noblewoman act like this in public before. If she was prone to things like this, it was no wonder Gavin had left her.

“You are nothing but a common slut,” she hissed, as she tossed the liquid from the cup in my direction.

I stared at the liquid, and it missed me by only 5 centimeters.

“…..?!”

Susanna was shocked as she stared at the ground. She was only inches from me, so it should have been easy to throw the liquid at me.

Her scene had gathered the attention of not only the customers but my coworkers as well.

“Please, leave my workplace and don’t return here,” I say to her calmly and seemingly unbothered.

Susanna narrowed her eyes at me.

“What the hell was that?!” She asked, loudly. “Is that all you have to say after what you did?”

“I did nothing wrong,” I tell her. “Please, don’t bother me anymore.”

I turned to walk away, hoping that Susanna would take the hint and leave.

Third Person POV

Susanna had never felt more humiliated than she had at that moment. That wasn’t part of the plan; she wanted to make a fool out of that bitch Erin, but it backfired.

She was so angry all she could see at that moment was red.

She turned away just as Erin had and she opened the door of the restaurant, screaming at her bodyguards.

“Go in there and smash the restaurant,” she ordered. “Make that bitch regret how she spoke to me.”

As soon as those words left her mouth, the road under her feet turned to ice and she fell on her face.

"What the hell? How could the road freeze on a sunny day? What the hell is going on?"

Susanna felt strange.

Her bodyguards also fell to the ground and struggled to get on their feet.

Suddenly, the memory of her coffee formed in her mind. She was only inches from Erin, there was no reason that the liquids would miss her completely.

Her entire body froze as she glanced at the restaurant doors and saw Erin standing at the window, watching her with an intently look in her icy eyes.

It was a warning.

Susanna's body shuddered as she thought of the legendary Moonshadow and Killer organizations. The Moonshadow was a secret organization that used their powers for good and the Killers were those with powers that used their powers to torment those without any abilities.

It was unclear which organization Erin belonged to, but it was clear that regardless, Erin was more dangerous than she thought.

No matter which organization Erin was a member of, she could not afford to mess with them. Even if she was an aristocrat.

She remained on the ground as she took out her cell phone intending to call Gavin. But then she heard a gentle voice.

"Miss Susanna, may I help you?"
