Chapter 19
Erin’s POV
“Thank you for retrieving the ring for me,” I say, peering up at Henry who smiled down at me with a kind look in his eyes.
“I would do anything for you, Erin. When will you learn that?”
A blush crept across my face; I had been so deceitful to him and so fixated on my own life, that I had almost forgotten that Henry was my partner. He was my best friend and the one I trusted the most in this life. I should have never lied to him; I should have been straightforward with him from the beginning.
“I promise, I won’t keep anything more from you,” I promise him. “I know it wasn’t fair that I kept such a secret. I’m sorry, Henry.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” he said softly. “I understand.”
I kissed him gently on the lips when I heard Kelsey from behind me.
“Erin, will you be returning to work?” She asked, raising her brows.
Henry laughed and kissed me again.
“I’ll see you at home later,” he assured me.
“I’ll walk you outside,” I say quickly, glancing over my shoulder at Kelsey with a sheepish smile. “I won’t be long.”
She gave me a deepened frown.
“Erin—”
Soon, her eyes found Henry’s, and her entire body stilled. His eyes were dark as he looked intently into Kelsey’s eyes.
“You’ll let Erin walk me outside. She won’t be long and you’ll forget about this conversation,” he spoke his command out loud in a low tone so only I could hear him.
He didn’t have to speak his commands out loud; as long as he thought them, the message would get across in his eyes to those he used his powers on. However, he wanted me to know what he was doing.
He released his hold on Kelsey’s mind and she blinked a few times, confused. She didn’t say anything as she turned away and went back to work as if we weren’t there.
I was always so impressed with Henry’s power.
I laughed as he took a hold of my hand, and we went outside together.
Henry and I stood by his car before he got inside. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him gently on the lips.
“Oh, before I forget, would you like your ring back?” He asked, holding it in his hand.
I snatched it from his palm, putting it on my finger.
“Of course,” I say to him, kissing him once more.
His kiss was sweet and gentle; not to mention familiar. I enjoyed the familiar feeling of his mouth against mine.
“Oh, I forgot. I have something for you. I didn’t want to make a scene inside because I know you want to be invisible,” he laughed as he opened his car door and pulled out the most beautiful bouquet of flowers I had ever seen. They were all different colors; a lot of green, blue, pink, purple, yellow, and red in one gorgeously wrapped bundle.
My smile only widened as I took the flowers in my hand and peered up at him with misty eyes.
“I love them,” I breathed.
Soon, a gust of wind blew through us, taking some of the flower petals and setting them free. I glanced around as the gorgeous colors swirled around us, making us both laugh.
The temperature outside began to grow. I stared up at the intense rays of the sun, confused as to why it was getting so hot all of a sudden. Just as I broke the embrace with Henry, I watched as his beautiful blonde hair spontaneously combusted.
“Oh, goddess! What’s happening!” I yelled, taking a quick step away from him.
I saw the panic in Henry’s eyes as he realized his hair was on fire.
“Put it out! Put out the fire! Make it rain!” He yelled back, panic consuming him.
I stared up at the sky, watching as the white clouds turned dark while I filled them with water. Soon, the clouds burst, and rain poured down, washing through Henry’s hair and putting out the fire instantly.
…
Gavin’s POV
Seeing Erin embracing Henry, wearing that wedding ring, did something to the inside of Gavin. He had never felt this intent jealousy before. He was growling with fury as he watched Henry pull out a beautiful bouget of flowers for her.
Just as she held the flowers, with a wide grin on her face, and a look of love in her eyes, a gust of wind took off a few petals, allowing them to swirl around the seemingly perfect couple. The two stood in the shower of petals, laughing; the picture was eye-catching and romantic.
Gavin was burning with jealousy.
He felt the temperature around him rising just as the jealousy continued to simmer and burn within him. Soon, he watched as Henry’s hair combusted. The pure panic in his eyes was enough to make Gavin smile. It wasn’t his intention to set Henry on fire, but he wasn’t displeased by the unfortunate event.
Henry was yelling at Erin put the fire out; out of nowhere, it began raining.
Once the fire was out, Henry brushed his fingers through his singed hair.
“Looks like I’ll have to get new hair,” he said with a light laugh.
“It’s okay, Honey. You’ll always be handsome in my eyes,” Erin said, standing on her toes to kiss him.
“I hope you mean that, Erin,” he breathed, kissing her back.
Gavin’s eyebrows almost knitted together as he stared at the scene unfolding before him.
“Are you going to let that bastard take our mate?” Roman growled from within him. “Go over there and do something.”
He had previously made a deal with Henry that if Erin accepted his ring back then he would leave her alone going forward. But that was a deal he was no longer intending to keep. Erin was his and he wasn’t going to stop fighting for her.
She belonged with him, and he belonged with her. She was all he had thought about in over a decade, and he wasn’t going to give up on her that easily. Especially now that he knew her marriage wasn’t contracted.
That explains why she hasn’t been marked by him.
However, it made him wonder why she hasn’t been marked.
Gavin exited his car, slamming the door shut as he approached the happy couple. They had yet to notice him as they continued their loving embrace. Erin was running her fingers through his singed hair, and he was laughing sheepishly. Though they were looking around the sky, confused as to how that happened in the first place.
It was strange that it began raining on such a sunny day; Gavin watched as Erin stared intently at the clouds, darkening them until they drained of the water that was held captive.
She somehow made the sky rain.
Did she have special abilities too?
These were questions he intended to ask her.
He found himself clearing his throat loudly, turning their attention to him. Erin gasped, holding her breath as Henry looked around at Gavin’s annoyed face.
“Hello again, Alpha Gavin.”
