Chapter 2 Consequences

Jayden Park Point of View.

I got up, put on a pair of jeans and a black blouse because I had to look responsible to the head of the university, grabbed my wallet and car keys, and left the house in the direction of the small sandwich shop. As soon as I walked in, an attendant who was absent-mindedly cleaning the counter greeted me without even looking at me.

"Welcome to BigSub! What will you be ordering today?" she asked mechanically.

"How about something that doesn't have a single strand of that hair of yours?" I retorted sarcastically.

She stared at me and when she realized it was me, I rolled my eyes.

"Stupid!" she muttered to herself as she picked up some trays.

"What did you call me, sausage water?" I quipped back.

An older man came out of the kitchen, the nameplate on his chest read 'manager'. He glared at the younger woman and I smiled teasingly.

"Is there a problem here, sir?" He inquired innocently.

She lowered her head and closed her eyes, expecting the worst, but I was feeling kind today and just shrugged.

"No, none!" I declared. "I'll have a full meatball sandwich and a large soda."

"Yes, sir! That's twenty-nine fifty. What form of payment?" she asked mechanically.

I finished paying, noticing that she rolled her eyes every time she was forced to touch me to get the money or give me change. She hated me and that only amused me more and more. She's a scholarship student at the university and since her first year, she's always been the darling of all the teachers, she's always been the nerd who got the best grades and thought she was too good to talk to any of us. Even when the teachers gave her group assignments, she always did hers on her own and never gave the answers to anyone else. Once I failed because she wouldn't let me paste hers and since then I've happily made her life a living hell. I finished paying for my snack and went over to the table where Finn was with three hotties from the dance class.

"Hey guys!" I greeted them.

"Look who's here!" Finn exclaimed.

"Hey girls!" I waved at them.

"Hi Jayden!" one of them, who was the hottest, a busty blonde called Blair, greeted me coyly.

"Hi JayJay!" she said slyly, resting her hand on my thigh.

"You disappeared from the party last night. You didn't even pay any attention to me," she complained.

"Sorry kitten, that won't happen again," I assured her.

"So can I count on having your undivided attention at tonight's party?" she asked, sliding her hand up my thigh.

"Of course, kitten! I wouldn't miss it for the world," I promised, laughing.

Rachel approached, and I turned my gaze to her as she served me my snack as quickly as possible so that I could get out of there, but as soon as she turned her back, she was gone.

"Hey! Sausage water?" I called after her.

She took a breath before turning to face me as if she was going to shoot me.

"I ordered it without mustard," I pointed out.

"You ordered full!" she retorted.

She walked over to me and picked up the note on the table, showing it to me.

"See? Full," she stated.

"So you wrote it down wrong because I ordered it without mustard. Bring another one!" I demanded, pushing the tray towards her.

"Hurry up, I'm hungry!" I added impatiently.

She took the tray, took a deep breath, and came back a few minutes later with a different snack.

"Can you get me a strawberry sundae please?" Blair ordered, and the girl agreed.

"Of course! I'll be right back with your sundae," Rachel assured her as she left.

Finn shook his head at me. "You love giving this girl hell, don't you?"

"Nobody told her to be such a snob," I defended myself.

"Right? She doesn't talk to anyone, she never goes to parties," Blair chimed in.

"Actually, she goes to the parties that the music students go to, even though she doesn't talk to anyone. I've seen her there a few times," Gray informed us.

"So she must be going to tonight's party because everyone from the music class is going," Blair deduced.

Rachel returned with Blair's sundae, and the blonde took a good look at it. She gave me a playful look and then turned her gaze to Rachel, who was collecting Finn's tray, which she had already finished. She was no longer in her uniform and seemed to be going to college as she was wearing a dark blue polo shirt from the debating club.

"Actually, my sundae was chocolate with extra syrup," Blair stated matter-of-factly.

Rachel took a deep breath, and I started to laugh at the audacity of the blonde next to me.

"You asked for strawberry," Rachel reminded her tersely.

"I asked for chocolate. Are you deaf? Or is your horrible hair covering your ears?" Blair retorted.

"Or are you so stupid that you don't know the difference between strawberry and chocolate?" Rachel shot back.

We all laughed as the redhead and the blonde stared at each other.

"Are you calling me stupid, sausage water?" Rachel challenged.

"Yes, what part didn't you understand? Do you want me to spell it out?" Blair taunted.

Blair gave a wicked smile and got up from the table to come face to face with Rachel, who didn't back down.

"You'll regret saying that, you insignificant girl," Rachel threatened.

She picked up the bowl of sundae and tipped it over Rachel's navy blue blouse, who immediately pushed Blair, who didn't fall, but when she saw that the manager was watching, she threw herself on the floor and screamed.

"You crazy bitch, you're assaulting me!" Blair accused.

The manager came stomping in and immediately started shouting at Rachel, who looked desperate.

"Rachel, this behavior is unacceptable! You're fired!" he declared.

"Enough, Rachel! You didn't even work properly, you were always at college," he asserted.

"I did more shifts than any waitress here!" the redhead argued in vain.

"Don't argue with me! Clear out your locker and get out of here!" he demanded.

I could see her eyes welling up, and in all the years I'd teased her, I'd never seen her cry.

"I hope you're all satisfied," she sighed as she left, and Blair sat down beside me, feeling victorious. Despite hating that girl, her being fired bothered me a bit. But soon that feeling vanished when shortly after, she returned from the kitchen with her backpack on and a container full of chocolate sauce.

"Extra sauce you wanted? Here you go!" Rachel yelled.

She turned the container of chocolate sauce over Blair's head, who started screaming and crying, causing a scene.

"My hair!" Blair screamed.

Just when I thought I had gotten away, she sprayed the rest of the sauce onto my shirt, making me quickly stand up and try to grab a napkin to clean my clothes.

"What the hell? Are you crazy?" I asked, startled.

"This is for the last four years, JERK!" Rachel asserted, victorious.

She flipped me off and stomped away.
