Chapter 2
In the darkness, Flora remained silent.
She raised her high-heeled foot and kicked me hard in the stomach.
The pain hit like a wave, and I curled up on the ground, my stomach churning violently.
“Spending my man’s money and still trying to seduce him?!” she screamed, her voice filled with jealousy and fury.
She stood towering over me, ordering the two security guards:
“Hit her, don’t hold back!”
The two security guards, clearly on her side, didn’t hesitate to start beating me, throwing punches and kicks.
I gritted my teeth, enduring the pain without a sound.
My bones felt as if they were about to break, and my internal organs felt twisted and torn.
Flora continued to scream:
“You think you’re someone special? You’re just a parasite!”
“I told you, I’m his sister! Don’t believe me? Call Cole! I’ll talk to him!” I tried to explain, but she didn’t care.
It wasn’t until I started to feel dizzy and the world began to spin that she raised her hand, signaling for them to stop.
She played with her gun, pointing it at my head.
Leaning down, she smiled and said to me:
“Today, either you pay for the broken vase and an additional $50,000, or you’re not leaving. This is the price you pay for seducing my man and spending his money. Even if this blows up, I’m not afraid. Cole will handle it for me.”
I curled up on the floor, barely able to breathe, my whole body trembling, but I weakly retorted:
“I didn’t spend his money. If you don’t believe me, go ask him.”
Her face darkened, and she kicked me again.
The two security guards immediately understood and resumed their assault.
At that moment, I realized that nothing I said would matter. If this continued, I might really die here.
After spitting out a mouthful of blood, I used the last of my strength to feel for my phone.
“Stop… I’ll… pay.”
Seeing me submit, she seemed to be satisfied, signaling for the guards to stop.
She crouched down and patted my swollen cheek:
“See? Wasn’t this easier? If you’d just done this from the start, it would’ve been simpler. You should’ve cooperated. The total is $100,000, not a cent less.”
I lay on the cold floor, gasping for air, feeling as though my lungs were on fire.
I ignored her and directly called my Underboss.
She quickly answered:
"Nora, bring $200,000 to Cole’s restaurant. I need money urgently."
Nora was silent for a moment, immediately sensing something was wrong:
"Sherry? What’s going on? Your voice sounds..."
"Don’t ask, just come quickly." I cut her off and hung up.
When Flora Wilson heard “$200,000,” her eyes immediately lit up, a greedy look appearing on her face.
She probably thought I was scared from the beating and was offering more money to beg for mercy.
She could no longer hide her smug expression.
"At least you're smart."
