Chapter 10 10
The mind of the man in black clothes was in chaos. The man with the dirty face standing before him was actually the heir to all these lands. He was one of the three greatest powers in the Fai Kingdom. The Moonstone Magician Union had accumulated resources and trained disciples for generations, but had never managed to surpass the Fei Clan. If an important person in the Union hadn't been harmed, they would never have dared to enter the Fei Clan's lands.
'Is this how my life will end? At the hands of someone useless!!!' he said to himself. While kneeling, he could feel the cold swords at his neck. Nicolas started walking slowly towards him; even though his expression was calm, his gaze was stern. The man in black clothes was involuntarily tense.
In the past, even if the guards were protecting Nicolas, they never respected him, but after what they saw today, they realized that Nicolas was hiding a lot and was much stronger than he appeared. These two guards were protecting Nicolas with all their hearts for the first time.
'What is your name?' Nicolas said in a stern tone. 'Darin, Young Master,' he said with fear. He didn't even dare to move. 'What is her name?' Nicolas said, pointing at Lea with his gaze. 'Her name is Lea, she is a slave,' he said in one breath.
'Are you entering the Fei Clan lands to chase a slave!? Do you underestimate the Fei Clan!?' Nicolas said harshly. 'No... No, Young Master, never. That woman wounded our master,' Darin replied anxiously.
Nicolas went quiet, 'Tell me the details.' 'When our young master saw her, he was impressed by her beauty and bought her, but when he returned to his residence and they locked themselves in the room, this slave cut off the young master's penis and fled.' Darin summarized it briefly in one breath.
Nicolas flinched for a moment; every man would flinch. Slavery was common, and it was quite normal for slaves to meet all their masters' wishes, but Lea not only refused to do this, she had even cut off the sexual organ of the man who bought her.
'Who is your master?' Nicolas said to Darin. 'Young master, my master's name is Knight Aziz Anton Bles. He is the grandson of the 49th elder of the Moonstone Magician Union, and at the same time, he is the 130th strongest person in the young generation in the Knight section of the Moonstone Magician Union.'
Darin explained to the smallest detail. Nicolas's brows had raised. The Moonstone Magician Union was a union that valued magicians, but it also trained knights to maintain the balance of power on the continent. The number of knights it trained was over ten thousand, and being 130th in the young generation meant having an important position in the union.
'No wonder you followed her to the Fei Clan lands, but you had no luck,' Nicolas smiled. Darin's eyes widened instantly, and he raised his hand to speak and stepped forward, but the guard had already plunged his sword into his neck and separated his head from his body.
His blood splattered on Nicolas. The guard tensed up because of this unexpected effect. He had killed in front of Nicolas's eyes but had forgotten that he was a young person. If he saw such a scene, he was very likely to experience trauma.
When the guard quickly turned his gaze to Nicolas, he saw the look in Nicolas's eyes. 'This look...' he said. As a Great Aziz, he had of course seen many battlefields. Even the best soldiers could lose their minds at the sight of a bloodbath, but Nicolas hadn't even twitched. His gaze was as calm as a still lake, as if there were no human dying in front of him.
Nicolas raised his hand and wiped a few drops of blood that had splashed onto his face. While the guard thought he would be scolded, Nicolas calmly ordered. 'Search their bodies and burn them with their clothes. Bring me what you find on them,' he said.
Nicolas didn't have a grudge against the Moonstone Magician Union; he was even their ally in his past life. They had fought on the same side against the Holy Church and the Fai Kingdom. The lands of the Moonstone Magician Union were infertile; it earned its living from the sea and the mountain region.
Its lands were close to the Holy Empire, and many civilians lived there. Due to difficult living conditions, the people were desperate, and the Holy Church distributed food to the hungry and poor people in the Moonstone Magician Union, so its influence was extremely great.
The Moonstone Magician Union felt the breath of the Holy Church on its neck like the breath of the Angel of Death, every day and every second. Ultimately, when the great war broke out, it took place on the opposite side, but in the 10th year of the war, as a result of a popular uprising, the Moonstone Magician Union was destroyed, and moreover, the one who supported that uprising was none other than the clan leader of the Fei Clan at that time.
Of course, the Fei Clan had long since become a puppet of the Fai Kingdom at that time and was fighting on behalf of the Holy Church. Of course, together with the twin Generals and their aunts, Mia had left the Fei Clan with many talented experts. Nicolas had heard that they went to the Elf lands, but he didn't have enough information.
Still, that didn't mean they could enter the Fei Clan lands easily and try to kill someone on their land, right outside the city. It didn't matter at all that the grandson of the 49th Elder of the Moonstone Magician Union was the 130th most talented young knight.
Nicolas knew he made the right decision, and he also understood that these people acted without the union knowing, so killing and burning was the best thing, and maybe there could even be a use for the information he received in the future.
When Nicolas came to Lea's side, Albert had fixed his gaze on a tree in the distance with a pale face. He used to be afraid of Nicolas, but after what he saw, he was even more afraid of him. After saying he would gouge his eyes out, even if the god of the holy church came out and told him to look at Lea, he would curse and chase him away.
Nicolas appreciated Albert's obedient attitude. 'Albert. Go to the pharmacy, get four pinches of Seruf Herb and two pinches of Barin root, and come to the clan,' he said. Albert stood up quickly and while still looking at the tree, 'As you command...' he said, then ran to the city visible in the distance.
Nicolas looked behind him smiling and took off the robe he was wearing and bent down to cover Lea's body. Meanwhile, the guards had finished searching the ten corpses and piled up what they found to the side; they had also collected their quality swords and spears.
Finally, a few throwing knives were lying on the ground. Throwing knives were attack weapons commonly used in the lands of the Moonstone Magician Union. That's why almost everyone had such simple weapons. On the other hand, there were some small money pouches, which were what Nicolas was most lacking in currently: silver and gold.
Each kingdom had its own currency, but their sizes weren't different. All over the continent, from dwarves to humans, everyone used coins with the name of a different kingdom or Empire printed on them. After the guards stripped the bodies, one guard retreated and raised his hand towards the bodies they had stacked on top of each other.
After the other guard threw the last corpse onto the pile, he quickly retreated. Nicolas's guards were people of the rank of Great Aziz and could perform simple spells. It was simple to create fires that would burn the corpses, but basically, they could only burn the dead.
Even someone at the Aziz level would feel at most as warm as on a summer day from a fire spell used by a knight at the Great Aziz level. After the two guards came side by side, the guard who had raised his hand muttered a few words, and a large wave of fire from his palm was suddenly thrown at the corpses and surrounded all their bodies at once.
The smell of burnt meat was immediately carried to Nicolas's nose with the wind. It took less than 1 minute for the corpses to turn completely into ash, and the guards returned to Nicolas's side; one of them showed Nicolas the pile he was carrying.
'Young master, would you like to examine it now or in the clan?' said the guard. After Nicolas carefully spread his robe over Lea, he stood up slowly and looked at the pile in the guard's lap. He started digging with his hand; first, he took the parchment papers, examined them one by one, and handed all the parchments he read to the other guard.
The other guard silently took the parchments; no one knew what Nicolas was trying to do. Finally, Nicolas started checking the pouches. The sizes of the pouches were about a handful. Nicolas checked the pouches rapidly.
A total of 11 Gold, 56 silver, and a few bronze emerged from the ten pouches. Of course, the largest amount came out in the pouch belonging to the person named Darin. Exactly 8 Gold and 3 silver.
After Nicolas took 6 gold and 20 silver from the pile of gold in his hand, he handed the others to the guard next to him. 'These and the others are yours, the parchments are useless, so destroy them properly,' he said.
Seeing that Nicolas gave them a pile of gold, both of their mouths were open. They were knights of the Great Aziz rank. As Nicolas's personal guards, their positions were higher than their peers. But the monthly salary they received was only 1 Gold.
This was even because of their current position. 1 Gold might sound like a small amount, but in the Fei Clan City, a good house could be bought for 10 gold. If it was in the city center, it could easily be bought for 100 Gold.
1 Gold was the monthly salary of these knights, of course, they also had personal lands, but their families made their living from these lands, yet after all their expenses were deducted from the land, it was at most 1 Gold per month.
The 5 Gold and 36 silver Nicolas gave was equivalent to their two and a half months' salary. For the first time since the day they became Nicolas's guards, they felt lucky. They had seen Nicolas's countless actions, and it was their duty to protect him as his personal guards, and at the same time, the Fei Clan required personal guards to take an oath of loyalty, meaning these two guards knew things that even Hanry didn't know.
Every day they felt how unlucky they were and had put distance between themselves and Nicolas. The reason was simple: they would protect him but would not be intimate, so he wouldn't be able to rob his two guards when his money ran out.
Today, however, they realized how generous Nicolas could actually be. Nicolas, on the other hand, didn't mind the surprised looks of his two guards; after stepping back, his brows furrowed and he said, looking at both of them.
'Also, when you return to the Clan, you will both eat 10 lashes. If there had been an assassin in Lea's place, I would be dead right now!' Nicolas said harshly. The two guards trembled instantly.
In the heat of the moment, they had completely forgotten this; someone of their level would certainly have noticed Lea approaching if they hadn't relaxed and lowered their guard. They had clearly made a mistake and had to pay the penalty.
Still, for the first time, there was no discomfort in their hearts; they bowed their heads obediently and said, 'We seek your forgiveness, Young Master. We were wrong and we deserved our penalty.'
After Nicolas nodded, he bent down, picked up Lea, and started walking towards the city.
