Chapter 6 Marriage Certificate
Kaelia.
It all happened in a flash. It was too fast for even my brain to process it properly.
One minute, I had been standing on the altar, rejecting the prince, my mate, and claiming to be the Luna of his father, the alpha. In the second minute, I was holding the certificate of my marriage with alpha Gabriel in my hand.
First of all, I hadn't expected him to accept me but he shocked me even more by taking me to the bureau for the registration of our marriage.
I kept staring at it, our names penned down atop our signatures.
I, Kaelia Joshua, am now married to not Steven, my original mate, but to his father, the alpha.
It was a funny situation. I'm married to my ex's father.
I kept staring at the certificate, and though I felt the stare of alpha Gabriel on me, I said nothing. What am I supposed to say?
The deed was done already, I had apologized and shockingly, he wasn't even pissed. Instead, he looked... Amused.
Even if there hadn't been any other way, I still would reject Steven. He should even consider himself lucky that I hadn't acted the way I had felt.
The car stopped in front of the pack house and my eyes tore away from the certificate I was holding to the large building in front of me.
The same pack house I lived with Steven for three years not knowing he and my sweet fake stepsister were having an affair. The same house I had lived taking care of the alpha until he collapsed in front of me and I got accused of killing him by the same loving husband of mine. The same house that caused my death. I didn't even get the chance to know the cause of the death of alpha Gabriel before I got arrested and killed immediately.
I got down from the car, my eyes were still stuck to the building. My emotions did a flip, the anger I had felt a few minutes ago morphed into some kind of strength. Determination.
This time, it'll be different.
My life, my destiny, it's all in my hands now. It's either I make it, or I break it. And I'll make sure it's not just built, it'll be built perfectly. No more loopholes, no more room for mistakes.
If feelings had been one of the reasons for my last death, then I guess that part of me will have to be thrown deep into an abyss.
As for the people whom I loved dearly. The people I placed above myself that still ended up hurting me, I'll make sure they regret it.
I'm never one to hold grudges but Steven, Victoria and my parents have changed that perspective of mine. They would see Kaelia but it's not the one they've known. It's not the one they've nurtured, it's not the same sweet and permissive sister Victoria had grown to know.
She would stare at me but not know who she was staring at. I'll make sure they're never able to recognize this new me.
And getting married to the most powerful man in the pack, the alpha himself, will give me more than enough privilege to get my revenge.
Chris wheeled alpha Gabriel past me, I immediately tapped him to let me take over. He moved back, taking the certificate from me while I wheeled my husband into the building all while he was busy with his phone.
Steven was on the grand couch when we got in, he wasn't alone, Joyce was seated beside him. She was the head housekeeper and Steven's nurse. She was a woman in her mind sixties.
I ignored both of them but Joyce stood up the minute her gaze fell on me, pointing at me with her brows creased in fury. "You! How could you do something so inhumane to Steven?" I still ignored her until she let out the next words. "He showed you nothing but love and care, and the only way you could pay him back is by getting married to his father?"
I stopped walking, turning to her with an unreadable expression.
"She's nothing but a cheap slut!" Steven spoke, giving me a lethal glare that did nothing in scaring me. "I've always known that she's one cunning wench! She's been secretly seducing father before now to win him over. Private nurse my ass, it all makes sense now! You're not only cheap, you're also desperate!"
Alpha Gabriel parted his lips to speak but I held his shoulder, rubbing it gently and he went quiet.
I turned to Steven and Joyce properly. "Where were you the night of the bachelor's party?"
It was a simple question, but Steven's expression gave me every response I needed to know. The very response I was too blinded by love to have noticed.
He couldn't reply, his lips just kept parting and shutting.
Joyce stepped in. "That's none of your business! You don't have the right to ask him that. He's the Prince of the Blue Blood Pack and he can be wherever he wishes to be."
I shrugged. "I can also marry whoever I wish to marry. That makes us even, don't you think?" I asked with a grin.
Steven's nose flared in anger as he pointed at me. "You're one shameless, whore!"
"That's a lot coming from you." I tutted.
I didn't want to let him know that I already knew about his secret affair with my little sister.
Joyce yelled in anger, pointing at me repeatedly but I wasn't moved. "You're being too noisy, no amount of scream will undo the fact that I'm married to your father now."
Steven turned red in anger, his gaze shifted from me to his father, alpha Gabriel.
"I can't stay in the same house with her! She's a betrayer!"
"You can do yourself the favor of picking your things and moving out."
He halted in shock, his eyes were wide. "Did you just hear what she said father? She's asking the Prince to leave his father's house! Did you just hear her?"
"I did." Alpha Gabriel nodded. "And I think it's wise to listen to your step mother."
Steven froze, a wide and pleasant grin appeared on my lips.
