Chapter 10

Ann panicked as she saw how angry her father was. Indeed, she had used that excuse as she knew how her parents cared for her. She also thought about the reason they had brought Scarlet back, so she wasn’t worried that nothing would go her way. However, she seemed to underestimate Scarlet, not learning from her mistakes.

“What nonsense are you talking about? How can she have failed such an illness? Do you think that one would wish to be sick and not even go for parties or even events with her friends, because of a faked illness?” Mrs Jenkins asked her husband coldly when she saw Ann panicking.

She understood that Ann had been plotting against Scarlet, but that didn’t mean that her heart condition was forged.

“Dad, weren’t you there when she was undergoing the testing and even when the doctors told us her situation?” John asked his father, who looked at his wife, then at his son.

Afterwards, he looked at Scarlet, who was staring at what was happening. She had long seen that her father had stopped looking at Ann and hid the coldness in her eyes. All her eyes showed was curiosity and pity.

Mr. Jenkins really wanted to lecture and condemn Scarlet, but looking at the expression on her face as she stared at Ann, he couldn’t bring himself to do so, especially when he recalled that he had forced the latter to come back with a hidden agenda.

“Scarlet, forget about happened today. Also, don’t agitate yourself. She has a heart condition and can’t be agitated,” he said, making Scarlet sneer inwardly.

“If she has a heart condition and can’t be agitated, then tell her to stay away from me. Scheming against me won’t work. If she dares plot against me or come near be with those stupid plans of hers, then don’t blame me when she is rushed to the hospital,” Scarlet said coldly before walking upstairs, even leaving her aunt there.

Everyone was stunned by her words as they weren’t expecting her to say such things. They had thought that she would keep up the innocent look, but who knew? At this moment, Mr Jenkins realized that something must have happened at the mall for Scarlet to show such an attitude towards Ann when she had not done that previously.

He stared at Ann, who immediately lowered her head. She had thought that everything had ended when her father had told Scarlet those words, but who knew that the stupid bastard would throw the attention back to her? Just thinking of it made Ann’s eyes full of hatred and reluctance. She thought that even if she had lost today, she would make sure she got back at Scarlet.

“Wow. If you think that Scarlet would agitate your dear daughter, then why bring her back?” Sophia asked coldly, making everyone look at her as they had even forgotten her presence.

“What do you mean? That I shouldn’t have brought her back?” Mr Jenkins asked coldly. “Could you even afford her university fees?”

“Oh, please spare me. Don’t think that I don’t know what is going on. You can fool anyone else but not me. Also, please, as Scarlet said, if you are afraid of your daughter being agitated, then tell her to stay away from Scarlet,” Sophia said, emphasizing what she had said previously.

“Who do you think you think you are to talk to me like that?” Mr Jenkins asked coldly as he looked at Sophia as if he could kill her in the next minute.

“Even if you shot daggers at me, you can’t do anything to me. Also, please refrain from talking as if you are my boss. That year you threw us out, I wasn’t prepared and didn’t want to make things hard cause Scarlet was still young and she loved you so much as her father. But things are different now. As you saw, she isn’t close to you; in fact, she hates you. So don’t think that you can push me around as you did previously. This house is under Scarlet’s and my name. I have reached the age to get everything she left for me,” Sophia said, making Mr and Mrs Jenkins' expression change immediately.

“Oh, don’t think of getting them from my hands before signing the papers. I already have,” she added, and their expressions changed.

“Well, we never wanted to come back. Since you are the one who insisted on bringing us back, you should behave. Agitate Scarlet, and you are all out. This isn’t your house for you to act all mighty and high,” Sophia said coldly before walking away, not caring about the expressions on their faces.

“Oh, I forgot. Have you ever thought why the will that was read was different from the one who were expected?” she asked as she turned around slowly to look at her former brother-in-law.

Mr Jenkins shook when he heard her question. He immediately knew that there was something the woman knew and she wasn’t telling him. Also, from what he had investigated, the properties that were read on that will were not all the properties the woman had. Now, hearing Sophia ask him that, he knew that he had been a fool; his wife might have already discovered something and taken measures.

“Don’t think of doing anyone to either Scarlet or me. Then your affair and the fact that those two seated there are your children…” Sophia said, then stopped, but gave them a cold smile which chilled them. They didn’t have to wait for her to finish her words as they knew what she was saying.
