Chapter 8

Scarlet hung up the call and returned the phone to the owner, who was already staring at her and some of the buyers in the shop.

“Why did you lie? Also, used my phone when you could have used your new one?” the seller asked as she hated people who lied.

“I never lied. You can go to the glary shop, ask them whether I wasn’t there and whether my sister wasn’t there to find trouble for me. I had to request them to send the shopping bags home,” Scarlet said softly and calmly.

“She is right. I was also there and saw what had happened. She just came back from the village, and her sister thought that she didn’t know anything. They were mocking her,” someone in the crowd said, stunning everyone, even Scarlet. She had not thought that there was someone who saw what had happened there. However, it was to her advantage as everyone won’t think that she was just finding trouble.

The person who was selling stared at the young lady who spoke and sighed. She recognized the lady who spoke as she was her good customer, and she came from an affluent family.

“You are lying, right? How can she be from the village? The way she is dressed and the way she speaks,” someone else asked as she found it believable.

“What do you know? Do you think that I am her friend, and I am just helping her? I can tell you that I really don’t know her. The outfit, actually, everything, she changed after buying them at Glary, you know. That’s how she made her sister mad, who realized that she couldn’t fool the latter into buying ugly outfits cause this lady has taste,” the young lady retorted, making the woman who had asked remain silent.

“Those clothes also smell new,” a middle-aged woman who was closest to Scarlet said, and the other woman on her left nodded, making everyone look at Scarlet with pitying eyes.

“Young lady. Don’t worry. It seems that your father cares for you. Everything will be okay. If you don’t have any friends in the city since you just arrived, you can befriend her,” the purveyor said, making Scarlet glance at the young lady she was being told about.

She was stunned as she never thought that she could meet the latter here. She remembered her from her past life; she was the young lady from the Cole family.

Ann had tried befriending her since she was young, but the latter always said that Ann was a white lotus, and she couldn’t afford to be her friend. The lady had even once warned her that she should be careful with Ann, but at that time she had thought that this young lady was just pretending and jealous cause she wasn’t Ann’s friend.

She had always thought that the lady was the one who wanted to befriend Ann, and Ann refused till she overheard the mother and daughter duo talking when she was home arrested. She had regretted not listening to the latter’s words earlier.

Now seeing her here, she was so happy as she knew that she was one of the few people who had always wanted to help her, but cause of her stupidity, she always thought that they were just jealous of them.

“Hae. My name is Scarlet,” Scarlet introduced herself as she walked in front of the young lady.

The young lady frowned, then looked at the person who had thrown this mess at her. She never liked Ann since she was a kid; she didn’t know whether to befriend Ann’s new sister or ignore her the same way she always ignored Ann.

She felt relieved that this girl didn’t get along with Ann, so she couldn’t say that she was befriending her cause she had been sent by Ann. Also, no one knew that she was in the Glary shop as she had been in the VVIP part, so those who were at the entrance and shopping didn’t see her. She couldn’t say that Scarlet had followed her here, as she had found Scarlet here.

“My name is Angela,” the young lady introduced herself as she shook Scarlet’s hand, thinking that she could try being her friend. If she saw that the latter befriended her cause of her identity, then she would walk away. However, she seemed to forget that neither of them had mentioned their surnames, so how could she accuse someone who came from the village of knowing her identity and befriending her?

Scarlet smiled as she had gotten herself her first friend on her first day. Still, she pretended she didn’t know the latter’s identity as she knew that Angela liked to be low-key.

“Let's go. Old lady, just send whatever I had asked you yesterday on the call home, and they will pay you. Let me first go with this new friend of mine whom you have given me,” Angela shouted, making the buyers present chuckle, thinking that the girl was interesting.

Scarlet nodded at Angel, who then looked at her and followed her away.

“Do you think that your family’s driver will arrive soon?” Angela asked as she glanced at Scarlet as they walked.

“Yeah,” Scarlet said with a smirk as she understood her father very well. He would send someone immediately as he was afraid that Scarlet would humiliate and embarrass them.

Angela stared at Scarlet when she heard her answer, as she felt that the young lady wasn’t stupid at all.

“You could have gone home, but you called cause you wanted Ann to be in trouble,” Angela said when she realized something. Scarlet glanced at her before averting her gaze as they continued walking. She didn’t reply to that.

Angela understood that silence meant that she was right. She felt annoyed when she thought that when she was ready to have a friend, the other party did not seem to be simple and was manipulative.

As if knowing what Angela was thinking, Scarlet said, “Stop overthinking and relax. I can’t count on you. I am just showing that to show Ann that I am not easy to bully. If I don’t do this, who knows what Ann will do next time? Even if I am not in danger this time, can we be sure that I won’t be the next time she plays such a game?”

Angela was stunned as she had never thought that way. She didn’t know how to reply.

“I am my father’s legitimate daughter from the first wife. Why should I let the daughter of a mistress step on me?” Scarlet added as she knew that even if her family had tried to hide the fact that Anna and her brother weren’t bastards, those big families that still existed when her mother was still arrive knew the truth, and she was so sure that Angela knew the truth. If not, she wouldn’t hate Ann that much.

Just as Angela was about to reply, she saw a car getting into the premises.

“You will go to the school that Ann goes to, right? We will see each other there. Bye,” she said before walking towards the car that had stopped a few metres away from them.
