Chapter 9

Seeing the young lady walking towards her car hurriedly, Scarlet chuckled but didn’t mind as she had gotten one thing right. At the same time, she felt that she was lucky that she found such a person.

Just as she had arrived at the car parking, she saw the butler walking towards her with a worried look.

“Miss, the master is so angry. Please let’s leave as soon as possible,” the butler said causing the happy mood Scarlet was in to be ruined and her expression turned cold. When she called back home, how could she not know that she would be making her father angry in return? However, she didn’t mind as she wanted to show them that she couldn’t be provoked and it wasn’t easy to bully her.

She nodded her head and followed the butler.

“Scarlet, you are back,” her aunt walked towards hurriedly as she started to look at her.

“Aunt, I am fine. I am not hurt anywhere. Why are you so worried as if I had gone to fight someone?” Scarlet asked with a chuckle but inwardly, she felt loved. In her past life, who could be waiting for her at the door or even check whether she was fine? She felt that she had been a fool to leave the person who cared so much for her for people who treated her like shit.

“How can I be worried? You went alone and we are in the city, what if you got lost or kidnapped?” Sophia asked as she slapped the latter on her shoulder softly making Scarlet hold her arm.

“Aunt, I am sorry. I would have waited for us to go together but I wanted to help with some work. At least, we got our rooms and also the clothes. Also, the driver took me to the mall, how could I get lost? When I realized that he wasn’t present, I just called dad to send someone to come for me so that I cannot be stranded outside. I was also worried that if people knew that I was from the Jenkins family and didn’t know around, they would mock me,” Scarlet said as she lowered her head.

They had been talking as they walked. By the time Scarlet completed her words, they had already reached the living room.

“Sister, how can you say that I left you?” Ann asked softly while biting her lower lip pretending to be wrong.

Seeing her actions, Scarlet sneered inwardly but she had an innocent look on her face.

“When did I say that you left me? I just called home and said that the driver wasn’t where I left him. Since you had been in the mall, I guessed that the driver had taken you and your friends. I am sorry, I really didn’t know that I shouldn’t have called home to get someone to come for me. I just didn’t know the location of our house. If I knew, I wouldn’t have minded you using the driver that dad had sent to take me to the mall,” Scarlet said looking at Ann tears in her eyes threatening to come out.

Hearing her words and seeing the tears in her eyes, Ann was stunned as she had thought that she was the one who knew how to act. However, standing in front of her was someone who acted even better than her.

Scarlet’s words made Mr Jenkins glare at Ann as he understood what she had been trying to do. Feeling her father’s cold glare, Ann felt unwilling and glared at Scarlet feeling that the girl was just causing trouble for her and she might be punished.

“Sister, I really didn’t mean it. I just have a sudden panic attack and my friends rushed me to the hospital. We took the car that was nearby and didn’t have the time to look for the car that took me to the mall. I just thought that the driver will wait for you. I didn’t know that he had left you. I am really sorry,” Ann said tears flowing down as she thought that since it seemed that she couldn’t win against Scarlet, she will use that one triumph card that.

As expected, her father’s and mother’s expression changed.

“Are you alright? Why didn’t you call us?” Mr Jenkins asked immediately while Ann flash Scarlet a grin.

Seeing what was happening in front of her, Scarlet really didn’t mind.

“Your sister knows how to call back home when everything isn’t right but you on the other hand thinks that everything will always work well for you! What if something happened to you?” Mrs Jenkins said making Scarlet speechless as she understood the hidden meaning in those words.

“Sister are you okay? Are suffering from any heart disease? It is severe?” Scarlet asked making the family’s froze as they had not expected her to ask such a question so suddenly.

“Why are you looking at me like that? I am just curious and at the same time worried about you. You shouldn’t be going outside or playing if you are really sick. What will happen if you suddenly have a severe heart attack in amidst of playing and those around you fail to notice in time? Or have the attack but the hospital is miles away from where you are? Sister, you really shouldn’t play with your health,” Scarlet said making Mr and Mrs Jenkins panic as they thought that Scarlet was speaking the truth.

Mr Jenkins who initially had been mad at Scarlet after hearing his wife’s words forgot about everything that had been said.

“However sister, I am really curious. How comes you even arrived before me? I often heard that when someone has a heart attack, it is always hard for the person to recover and be discharged so soon. It hasn’t been an hour since I left the house and it hasn’t been more than thirty minutes since you left me. How comes you were taken to the hospital, got treated your heart attack and discharged in only thirty minutes?” Scarlet asked making Ann who had been holding where the heart as positioned to froze.

She glared at Scarlet even forgetting to hide everything. Her parents were stunned when they saw the expression. Mrs Jenkins and John all turned their heads at Scarlet thinking that the girl was more scheming than they thought. With just a few words, she had overturned the situation and even reveal the truth about what had happened at the mall.

"Is what Scarlet has said true? Are you lying about being sick?" Mr Jenkins asked angrily as he stared at Ann coldly wanting to hear from her.
