Chapter 5 Meet my girlfriend

What the hell? This motherfucker!

My breath hitched as my eyes widened. I didn’t want to bite his lips. So I twisted my palm into a fist and punched him hard against the chest.

He remained still, and I only ended up inflicting pain on myself. Of course, what else was I expecting before thinking of hitting a gym rat?

The door was thrown ajar.

“Weston?” A pause, then she cleared her throat. “Is this what you do during work hours?”

Weston pulled his lips away and leaned up, his thumb slowly grazing my lips before he turned. “Mommy.”

Mommy? A twenty-seve-year-old man called his mom mommy?

Chewing my lips, I moved my gaze to the woman; she looked familiar.

She was attired in a plain white gown, matched with her red shoes. Oh yeah, it was obvious where Weston got his looks from.

Then, recognition hit me. The hairs behind my neck rose and I shuddered, pursing my lips. Lord of mercy.

Her dark hair swept over her shoulders as she turned, fixating her gaze on me.

I wasn’t sure she recognized me, since her mouth was pulled downwards in a pout. I couldn’t blame her. No mother would love to see her child making out in an office.

“Jenna, meet my mom, Mrs. Reed.” Weston gestured. “Mommy, meet Jenna, my assistant. And uh… girlfriend.”

What? Tremors spread through my body and I snapped my head towards Weston as a frown flitted across my face.

Our gazes locked for just a moment. He blinked at me, curving his mouth upward into a killer smile as he threw his arm over my shoulder.

“Oh dear.” Mrs. Reed’s face changed that instant and she lifted her hand to cover her heart. Weston shifted when his mother wandered over to me and pulled me into a hug. “It’s a pleasure meeting you again.”

I forced a smile. “Same here, Mrs. Reed.”

“Have you met?” He scrunched his forehead, one brow raised.

“In the elevator, I spilled coffee on her shirt,” she murmured, relief lacing her voice. She pulled away and stared at the shirt I had on. “I see you’ve changed now. I couldn’t stop wondering if the stain came off.”

He wanted drama, right? I could show him how it was done. Besides, acting was my passion.

I shifted to Weston and clasped his hand, ignoring the jolt that shot through me. “Weston pleaded that I wear his shirt.”

He stared down at me, his lips twitching. This dick was fighting a laugh.

“I’m trying to be the best boyfriend ever.” He shrugged and let out a throaty laugh. I squeezed his palm and he let out a low groan, hitting me with his shoulder.

Two things: we were either eating up the act or Mrs. Reed was just feigning ignorance.

“She’s really pretty, son. When did you plan on bringing her home?”

“Mommy, it was supposed to be a surprise, but now it’s ruined.” He pulled away from my grip. I pressed my hand on my mouth, swallowing the laugh that formed when he said mommy.

“Well you could still surprise us,” she said. “Jenna dear, I’ll pretend we’d never met. Why don’t you join us for dinner this weekend? Everyone would love to see the damsel Weston got himself, and hear the beautiful story of how you met.”

I swallowed, scratching the back of my neck. “I—”

“Jenna has a really tight schedule this week.” Oh, thank God. “Her sister has this event—”

Sister? Seriously? I interrupted him. “Mrs. Reed, I’d love to join you for dinner. I’m sure my schedule can wait. Right, Weston?”

“Right.” He pressed his lips together and nodded.

“Okay then. I’d leave you two to continue with whatever you were doing.” A mischievous smile flashed across her lips. “I just rounded off a meeting so I decided to check up on you.”

I rubbed my hands together and walked her to the door. “Bye Mrs. Reed.”

She smiled at me and waved. I slammed the door shut and turned, allowing the anger in me to surface.

“What was that?” I clumped towards Weston.

He retreated to his chair and sat, resting both hands on the desk. “What?”

I tried as much as possible not to be rude, since there was a little probability of me getting fired. “Why did you kiss me without my permission and why did you say I was your girlfriend?”

“I took permission. I said I needed your help and you nodded.”

“I. Did. Not. Nod.” I panted, glaring at him. “Didn’t you say you were seeing someone earlier?”

“I was staring at you which meant I was seeing you.” He licked his lower lips, then leaned back on the chair. “Why are you acting up? You played the part well and looked good doing it.”

“You obviously needed my help.” I propped my hand to my waist.

“Thanks for helping me, Jenna.” He did a little bow before opening his laptop. “You should get ready for dinner this weekend.”

“It’s not happening. And oh, I don’t have a sister like you mentioned. I’m an only child. I’d advise you to hire someone you know very well to play your fake girlfriend.”

“That’s rather forward of you. I haven’t even asked you yet.” He glanced at me.

I rolled my eyes. “We both know you were going to ask.”

“Fair enough. So Jenna without a y, would you be my fake girlfriend for three months?” He had a pleasing look.

My body tensed up and I swallowed, suddenly remembering Dave, my last boyfriend or rather situation-ship.

After he publicly denied and humiliated me countless times, I’d sworn not to be with a man without a label. And obviously fake dating was classified under that.

“I’d pay you,” he added when I remained silent. “And I’d delete the text and never mention it to anyone. Plus, I’d do whatever you want. But only if you agree to fake date me.”

Oh God, his offer was tempting. He raked his fingers through his hair and stood. “So do we have a deal?”
