Chapter 3

Kael didn’t respond immediately. He fell silent for a long while, brows knotted tight, before finally letting out a low, impatient huff.

"She’s pulled this trick before, deliberately making people worry, only to slink back in the end. Maybe this time she’s off on some whim, gone gallivanting somewhere. Don’t let her usual act fool you. She’s far more cunning than you think."

His voice was cold, the tail end laced with an unquestionable Alpha aura that weighed down the air in the hall.

The warriors exchanged glances, then fell silent. No one dared to mention my name again.

My heart grew more frantic. If they avoided speaking of me, how would they ever find the truth?

Days passed. Traces of all missing pack members were confirmed one by one, yet no clues led to me.

At last, persuaded by Thane, he returned to the Alpha’s quarters.

The moment he pushed open the door, his expression suddenly brightened. He muttered my name softly. The room was empty — no reply. He drew in a slow breath, intending to catch my lingering scent. But all that greeted him was silent emptiness.

Kael’s pupils contracted sharply.

The house had lost the Luna’s scent.

As an Alpha, he acutely felt the void left by the emptied territory, a tug of unease and primal instinct.

He scoffed. "Another pointless trick. If you truly want to disappear, don’t bother coming back."

He didn’t even wait a moment, turning to leave.

I lunged at him eagerly, desperate to tell him the truth, but he walked straight through me, his gaze cold. In that instant, I froze in place. So it was, my existence was more loathsome to him than dust.

Just as he was about to step over the threshold, his eyes suddenly landed on something atop the cabinet by the entrance. It was a memory stone, glowing faintly in the quiet.

I drifted in front of him.

Please, look at it... It’s the only trace that could hold my voice.
