Chapter Two
KAIDA'S P.O.V.
I gasped for air as my eyes flew open and saw myself in a freezing lake. Confused, I looked around, and my hand reached to find the dagger and sword that pierced my heart but felt knowing and saw no scars.
Where the hell am I?
The woods seemed unfamiliar, but it was too real for me to believe I was dead, I am meant to be dead, aren't I? I pulled myself out of the freezing water as I took a closer look at the surrounding while drying myself up, and I heard a crack.
I turned around in search of the cause of the sound but saw nothing. The hair on my back rose, and I knew someone was watching me. My limbs felt weird, but something wasn't right about my… I shifted into my wolf as something launched for me and without thinking I moved out of the way I kicked the person with my hind leg and that's when I realized it's a wolf.
A huge one and I had just knocked it out, oh goodness! I shifted back to my human form and reached for the wounded wolf, but my hands were suddenly captured by weird looking shackles and my knees dropped to the ground as the silver burned my skin.
“Let me go!” I growled deeper and louder than I ever can as five different wolves came into view, and they transformed into their human form and that's when the realization hit me.
I was trespassing
“I… I didn't know I was trespassing, I….”
“You killed him!” One of the warriors growled and anger set within my heart as I remembered those words from my father.
“It. Was. An. Accident!” I growled, and the shackles broke off faster than it got a hold of me.
What the hell
“Get her!” I bolted at a speed that seemed unfamiliar, and I nearly fell off the cliff, but I was pulled back and wrapped around a rope before I could blink an eye.
“I said it was a mistake!” I growled, but the ropes didn't come off and that's when I noticed it was soaked in wolfsbane and I might die again if I struggle with it.
“The Alpha will decide your fate!” He growled at me angrily, and I tried to cut the ropes off, but it was of no use.
Crap!
I needed to get out of here. My body was pushed on to a barrel, and I was dragged into the gates I knew nothing about. The people looked at me as I was being dragged, some with pity in their eyes others with disgust for me intruding.
The crack of a door opening made my heart beat increase rapidly, and the tension in the room hit me harder than a rock. I struggled to breathe and the poison of the wolfsbane gently mixed with my blood. I might as well die before I meet with this… I felt my body loosened and my eyes flew open.
Another set of shackled meet my legs and hands stronger than the former, and I was lifted and forced to walk
“I told you this was all a…"
“Quiet!” She shushed me up, and I glared at him while feeling the urge to kill him.
What the hell was wrong with me?
I shook my head and the strong scent of pine cone and forest soil hit me, my wolf hopped around in my head and the scent grew stronger with each step being taken
The door flew open, and my eyes landed on sapphire blue ones that could create light in a dark and I felt awestruck
“Alpha Thoran" The guards mumbled while giving a bow and it hit me
Alpha Thoran? No, it couldn't be.
“Mate” A little voice whispered in my head and I shook my head in denial, but he stared right into my soul with those eyes that I couldn't take mine off
“This woman was found trespassing, and she killed a warrior who tried to capture her, what should we do?” A small shift in his eyes made me snap out of it.
“Take her to…"
“I, Kaida Nyx reject you, Alpha Thoran Noctis as my mate and future Alpha” Gasps filled the air and the room became so silent that all I could hear was the chain on my shackles
“Did you just challenge me?” His voice sent a chill down my spine that made me want to shiver, but I pushed that feeling aside.
I couldn't let this man take the best of me, I couldn't let him be my mate not after everything he has done to his people, I refuse to be mated to a monster like him
“I do not challenge you, I don't want you or your pack, I want to leave!” The tension in the room was thick enough to blend through fogs unrecognized as I stared into his eyes while everything else became a blur.
“You will not leave” His voice once again bounced on the corners of the room, and it sounded like an echo
“You have no say in that” I broke the shackles off him and the guards tried to hold me down but he growled so loudly that they backed off, and I removed the rest of the shackles
“No one walks away from me!” He growled.
“There's always a first time for everything!” I growled back at him and turned around.
Servants looked at me as they completely shook in fear, what did these people do to deserve such ruthlessness from a heartless man?
I pushed the door open, but I was suddenly pulled and slammed against the wall before I met with those eyes that seemed like the ocean
“No one walks away from me…" He spoke again and this time I rolled my eyes “... Alive." He growled and a knowing smile crossed my face.
“You'll be happy to know I'm not afraid of dying” I pushed him with my legs, and he stumbled back a bit and I shifted as he made a move on me
